Chapter 501 Don't Kiss
The faucet turned on, and hot water cascaded down, filling the bathroom with steam that made Aurelia's face flush.
Aurelia turned her back on him, but the situation made it hard not to overthink. The restraint between adults could crumble with just a word or a sound.
Nathaniel's large hand gently brushed her back, working the body wash into a lather on her skin.
He reached over and turned off the water.
"Aurelia, turn around. You haven't washed the front yet."
Aurelia's scalp tightened as she inhaled sharply, "I-I can do it myself."
Nathaniel chuckled softly, holding the bottle of body wash. "It's free. Are you sure you don't want it?"
Aurelia didn't dare turn her head, afraid of seeing something she shouldn't, or stirring up thoughts she shouldn't have, "No, just give me the body wash."
Nathaniel squeezed some into his hand and rubbed it on himself before handing her the bottle.
They each focused on their own.
Aurelia finished washing her upper body and bent down to wash her legs. She accidentally bumped into Nathaniel, and both of them froze.
Aurelia quickly straightened up and took a step forward, embarrassed by the thought of their previous position.
A deep voice came from behind her, "Aurelia, why are you so tense?"
Aurelia hurried to clarify, "I'm not tense, who's tense?"
Nathaniel took the body wash from her hand, squeezing some into his palm. "Let me do it," he said.
He knelt down, carefully lathering her legs inside and out.
Aurelia felt like a puppet, her heart pounding wildly. When he finally finished, she let out a shallow breath of relief.
Nathaniel turned the water back on, and they locked eyes through the water's veil.
Desire burned in their gazes.
Nathaniel hooked his arm around her waist, pulling her close, "Aurelia, I..."
He regretted it. He thought he could hold back, but the moment she bent over, his rationality snapped.
Aurelia's right eyelid twitched; she had seen his awkward expression.
They were familiar with each other. She pressed against his chest, breathing lightly, "Let me help you."
Nathaniel didn't say whether he needed her help or not. He cupped the back of her head and kissed her brow, nose, lips, and continued downward, lifting her onto the bathroom counter.
Aurelia knew what he was about to do, her breath quickening with nerves, "Don't kiss, it's dirty..."
Her words came out sultry, making her own scalp tingle. She gripped his shoulders, her nails digging into his skin.
Nathaniel ignored her protests and focused on his actions.
Time seemed to blur. Aurelia tilted her head back, looking at herself in the mirror, overwhelmed by shame and excitement.
This kind of interaction had happened before, but never like this, making her watch herself lose control in the mirror.
He seemed to enjoy it, "Aurelia, it's not dirty..."
Afterward, Aurelia was still trembling and had not fully recovered.
He pulled her into his arms, kissing her head to soothe her, "Aurelia, how was it?"
He acted like a devoted servant, kissing every inch of her, attending to all her needs.
Aurelia was too embarrassed to speak. How could she tell him it was great and thrilling?
She couldn't say that.
Once she calmed down, Nathaniel wrapped her in a towel and carried her back to the bedroom, the pajamas they had brought into the bathroom still untouched.
He tucked her into bed before returning to the bathroom.
Aurelia covered her flushed cheeks, took a deep breath, and changed into her pajamas.
The sound of water continued in the bathroom. Nathaniel was taking another shower.
Nathaniel took his time. When he finally returned, he brought a chill with him, slipping into bed and hugging her like a warm pillow.
Aurelia shivered, but soon the bed began to warm up.
Nathaniel leaned in to kiss her lips, but Aurelia turned her face away.
Nathaniel couldn't help but laugh. "Are you mad at me or yourself?"
Aurelia had just calmed down, and he brought it up again. "Stop talking, go to sleep."
Nathaniel, undeterred by her rejection, turned her face back and kissed her lips before letting it go. He held her tight, "Alright, no more teasing. Get some sleep, we have important things to do tomorrow."
Aurelia snuggled into his arms, "If it weren't for you wasting time, I'd be asleep by now."
She was exhausted. She hadn't slept a wink last night, received shocking news early this morning, and flew for hours. She was ready to fall asleep the moment she hit the bed.
Nathaniel was equally tired but felt a rush of excitement being back at the Bloom Villa.
"Go to sleep, I'll watch over you."
As he finished speaking, Aurelia had already closed her eyes, her breathing steady against his chest, tickling him.
The next morning, they had breakfast at home. Betty had made a variety of delicate pastries, all of Aurelia's old favorites, for them to take on the road.
They were heading back to escort Brenda's heart and couldn't afford any delays.
Aurelia opened the pastry box and took one for the road, leaving the rest at home with regret. "Betty, I'll eat them next time. It's not convenient to take them on the road."
Betty sighed, "Take a few more and eat them before you get on the plane."
"No, no, I ate too much this morning. I'll get airsick."
Betty glanced at Nathaniel, who was waiting by the door, "Next time, I'll write down the recipes for you. If you have any questions, call me, and I'll guide you through it."
Nathaniel smirked, "Betty, you've spoiled her. She won't eat anyone else's cooking now, she's so picky."
Aurelia pushed him out the door. "Stop talking about me, we need to go."
They had come back in a hurry and didn't bring Zack. Nathaniel drove himself. Joe's plane was waiting on the outskirts, and they needed to pick up the heart from the hospital first.
When they arrived at the hospital, Joe was already waiting with a portable cooler.
Nathaniel sighed deeply, taking Aurelia's hand as they walked over.
He reached for the cooler, but Joe hesitated for a few seconds before handing it over.
"Nathaniel, can I trust you?"
Nathaniel knew this would happen. The trust he had built was fragile, easily shattered by his unreliable uncle.
"Joe, I'm me, and others are others. You can't blame me for someone else's mistakes. With Aurelia..."
He paused, "With Aurelia, I'm absolutely loyal."
Joe finally handed over the cooler, giving him a meaningful look, "Her body was buried this morning. The deceased are gone, and the living must move on. I hope you and Aurelia can find a new beginning, without regrets or grudges. Don't disappoint me."
"I won't."
"Go on, I have other matters to attend to and can't see you off. This task is yours to complete."
"We won't fail."
Joe watched their car until it disappeared from sight.
