Chapter 56 He Is a Gentleman
Aurelia chuckled and said, "Okay."
She calmly took out the black card, the first time she had used it since putting it in her bag.
The transaction went through.
Chelsea looked at the card in Aurelia's hand, her eyes filled with hidden animosity. She wished she could shatter both Aurelia and the card.
Chelsea had seen Nathaniel use that card not long ago, and now it was in Aurelia's hands.
Chelsea thought, ‘They had already signed the divorce agreement, so why would he give the card to her?’
Since Nathaniel's drunken night at the Jade Community, he had promised to give Chelsea an explanation, but she hadn't seen any action from him.
He even took Aurelia's side and spoke harshly to her because of a small mistake Chelsea had made.
Why was the divorce taking so long?
Chelsea became angrier.
She thought, ‘Could it be that he had really fallen for Aurelia?’
Amy once said to her that Aurelia might be pregnant. Chelsea's heart was in turmoil when she thought about it.
She thought, ‘Could it be true?’
Her unkind gaze swept over Aurelia's belly.
The saleswoman had already packed the dress and handed it to Chelsea with a beautiful bow.
"What are you thinking? Let's go," Ashley said, linking her arm with Chelsea, wanting to keep her away from Aurelia.
Chelsea had intended to humiliate Aurelia, but it only made her look down on her.
"Ashley, don't you think Aurelia's belly is bigger than usual?"
Ashley didn't pay much attention, had fewer thoughts than Chelsea, and only knew how to argue with people.
"She's just gained weight. Didn't you see how she stretched the dress around when she tried it on?"
"Aurelia's pregnant, isn't she?"
Ashley chuckled sarcastically, "She can't be pregnant. She's been married to my brother for three years. If she wants to get pregnant, she would have done so a long time ago."
Chelsea still felt uneasy, thinking she needed to find an opportunity to test Aurelia.
After they left the store, Aurelia and Ulysses stayed a while longer.
The saleswoman was more polite to the two of them than before, taking out the high-end styles one by one and placing them in front of Aurelia.
She felt that by pleasing these two customers, the store's performance for the month would be stable.
The high-end styles in the store were also very expensive. Aurelia shook her head and wanted to leave. She wanted Nathaniel to spend only a little money in case it caused trouble in the future.
Just as Aurelia hesitated, someone came into the store. All the staff put down their work and respectfully called out, "Mr. Heilbronn."
Aurelia's heart seemed to skip a beat. Through a row of models, she saw two straight legs wrapped in neatly pressed trousers.
The shoes were casual, not Nathaniel's. She breathed a sigh of relief.
"Aurelia, why don't you say to me when you come to buy a dress?" It was Marcus's voice.
Aurelia emerged from behind the models, feeling a twinge of unease. "Is this store run under your management?"
"Yes, it's the new brand of the Heilbronn Group. I’m the head of the department."
Aurelia felt a little ashamed. Marcus had helped her many times, but she didn't know what he did in the company.
She thought, ‘No wonder the prices of the goods here are so exorbitant. It turns out to be a property of the Heilbronn Group, which advocates high-end luxury that ordinary people can’t afford at all.’
Marcus looked at the name on the saleswoman's badge and softly instructed, "Lily, go and get that black dress."
This saleswoman was new and a little nervous as it was the first time she saw her direct leader. Usually, at most, the store manager would come. The head of the department seldom came. She was also shocked.
"Mr. Heilbronn, are you talking about the dress that is not usually allowed to be displayed?"
Marcus nodded and said, "Yes, bring it out."
Aurelia and Marcus exchanged pleasantries, and in a few minutes, the saleswoman walked out with a box in her arms as if she were holding a fragile porcelain.
"Try it on." Marcus signaled the saleswoman to give the dress to Aurelia.
Not wanting to refuse his kindness, Aurelia went back into the fitting room.
When she came out and stood in front of the mirror, she was stunned.
She usually wore mostly light-colored clothes, and this was the first time she had tried this style. The black dress contrasted with her skin. Coincidentally, she had her hair tied up when she went out today, which matched the outfit perfectly.
Marcus raised an eyebrow, his eyes never leaving her. "How is it? Does it fit?"
Aurelia answered shyly, "It fits."
The fabric of this dress was even better than the one just now, and it fit her well.
Ulysses stood aside and cheered, "Aurelia, you must buy this. It's too good to miss."
Aurelia was a little embarrassed. This dress probably cost several times more than the previous one, so she asked the saleswoman in a low voice, "How much is this dress?"
The saleswoman needed clarification about Aurelia's relationship with Marcus and needed to figure out how to answer. This dress was instructed to be put away when it arrived at the store, and it was not allowed to be shown to customers. Since it is not for sale, there was no price.
The saleswoman looked at Marcus for help.
Marcus smiled and said, "This dress is a custom-made item for my future wife."
Several salespeople in the store were shocked. They didn't expect this low-key lady to be their boss's wife.
Fortunately, their service just now was fine; otherwise, they would have been fired.
Obviously, they mistook Aurelia and Marcus for a couple.
"Mrs. Heilbronn, you and your friend can sit inside. I'll go and pour coffee."
The saleswoman immediately invited Aurelia into the lounge and took out snacks in the store to entertain her.
"Mrs. Heilbronn, you can inform me in advance when you come next time. I'll keep the styles you like."
Aurelia was not used to being complimented like this. Everyone was here to work, and she didn’t think she should seek special treatment.
"Don't bother. My friend and I still have things to do. We'll leave later."
The saleswoman smiled and looked back and forth between Aurelia and Marcus.
Marcus reminded the saleswoman again, "In the future, this lady doesn't need to pay for anything she takes from the store."
The saleswoman nodded repeatedly.
Aurelia felt a little uncomfortable under the gaze of more than a dozen people and wanted to leave.
Unexpectedly, Marcus spoke first, "I'm busy today. Call me next time, and I'll take you out to dinner."
Aurelia nodded, holding the bag in her hand, "You're busy. I'll definitely call you next time."
As they left the store, Ulysses stared blankly at Marcus' retreating figure.
"Marcu is a real gentleman."
Aurelia found his admiration interesting. "Don't think about it, Marcus doesn't like men."
Ulysses said again, "How do you know he doesn't like men? He doesn't have a girlfriend."
His question took aback Aurelia.
It could be intuition.
When she was alone with Marcus, she always felt that his gaze towards her was special. She was not a little girl and understood the meaning of a man's gaze.
Unfortunately, his actions have never shown any unreasonable behavior.
This made Aurelia feel that she was thinking too much. A rich and handsome man like Marcus must have many women chasing after him. Why would he have such thoughts about her?
She thought, 'Don't think about it. A man like him will never be short of suitors.'
