Chapter 34 Watching His Back
The Lake Villa was Aurelia's mother's premarital residence and does not belong to Norman. They lived there until her mother's death, and it held all the memories of her. Aurelia naturally wanted to reclaim it.
She was surprised to find it now under Chelsea's name.
Aurelia managed to contain her anger.
"I promise to divorce. I'll divorce when the house is mine."
Norman was on the verge of losing his temper.
He exclaimed, "You're not willing to help, are you? Are you trying to kill your sister? You'd be happy if she died, wouldn't you?"
"It has nothing to do with me. Chelsea brought it on herself. No one forced her."
"He's just a man. Why are you so petty? There are plenty of men in the world. I can find you a husband the day you divorce."
"Marriage should be taken seriously. Why don't you tell Chelsea the same thing? Why does she insist on entangling herself with a married man?"
"What do you mean by saying that? Are you saying your sister is a mistress destroying your family?"
"Yes. Chelsea's mother destroyed my mother's family, and now she's here to destroy mine. What do I do wrong? Why do you all bully me? If you despise me so much, why didn't you kill me back then?"
He slapped her.
Aurelia's mind went blank.
Hearing the commotion outside, Nathaniel walked out and witnessed the scene.
He angrily asked, "What are you doing?"
He walked over and embraced Aurelia.
Norman felt a bit embarrassed.
"I'm just teaching her a lesson. Nathaniel, don't worry. She's healthy. She won't feel any pain."
Aurelia's mouth oozed with blood, but what was worse was that she started to have tinnitus. Their voices sounded like they were pounding on her eardrums. She couldn't hear what they were saying.
Nathaniel put his arm around Aurelia's shoulder and turned her to face him.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
Aurelia nodded. She felt a burning pain in her face. She was sure her face was red.
"This is your document."
"I'll take you to see a doctor."
Nathaniel held her and walked towards the elevator. As they passed by Norman, he stopped and warned.
"As for that batch of loans, you'll have to handle it yourself. The Heilbronn Group is not a charity and won't lend you such a large sum of money."
Norman was afraid and thought, 'What does he say? He promised me before. Why does he change his mind?'
"Nathaniel, listen to me..."
Nathaniel ignored him. He walked forward with Aurelia in his arms. When they were close to the elevator, Maria rushed out of the door and shouted, "Doctor, doctor, come and see my daughter... Please save her..."
The anxious voice echoed through the hallway.
Nathaniel let go of Aurelia and ran back immediately.
Aurelia held her face. Watching him run back, she felt a chill all over her.
She seemed to be forever watching him run towards Chelsea's back.
She thought, 'Even if he can stand by my side once, I choose not to save this marriage even for the sake of the two babies in my belly.'
Aurelia leaned against the wall to rest.
"Aurelia, I see you in such a mess at the hospital again." Marcus's gentle face appeared before her eyes.
"Uncle Marcus, what a coincidence! I meet you again." Aurelia felt a deep sense of powerlessness as she spoke.
"Come, I'll take you to see the doctor."
She followed Marcus into the elevator. Once again, in the consultation room, the doctor turned out to be Dalton.
Dalton examined Aurelia’s face and couldn't help but shake his head. "Miss, do you get into fights every day? I remember you were here last time, too."
"Doctor Geelt, help me."
Aurelia didn't want to explain. She thought, 'He misunderstood me. It's okay. I don't want others to know about those strange things.'
Dalton brought an ice pack and put it on her face, causing Aurelia to cry out in pain.
"Ouch."
Marcus, who was always gentle, stood up.
"Can you be gentler?"
Dalton didn't dare to take any further action.
"Do you want to give it a try?"
Dalton was just joking.
He didn't expect Marcus to actually walk over and take the ice pack from his hand.
"Aurelia, tell me if it hurts."
Marcus gently pressed the ice pack against Aurelia's face. Aurelia was nervous and forgot about the pain.
While Dalton was writing a prescription, he kept glancing at Marcus, who was still single. He sensed that Marcus was in love.
"Alright, you go get the medicine."
Marcus handed the ice pack to Aurelia.
He said gently, "You apply it to your face first, and I'll go get the medicine."
Aurelia turned her head.
"Doctor Geelt, I still have some ringing in my ears. Do I need other medication?"
Marcus was angry.
"Who hit you?"
Observing Marcus's countenance suffused with anger, Aurelia was a little scared. In her impression, Marcus was always gentle. She couldn't imagine what he would be like when he was angry.
"It’s Norman. It's our private grudge," She said in a flat tone.
"Did you fight back?"
Aurelia shook her head. She looked like a bullied child.
Dalton felt that the man called Norman had better not go out these days. Dalton thought, 'Marcus is ruthless, although he looks gentle.'
"I'll test you first to decide if you need any other medication."
Aurelia was examined. Fortunately, it was not serious. Her eardrum was vibrating but not injured, and she would recover in a day or two.
"Aurelia, where are you going? I can give you a ride."
Aurelia didn't want to go home. She would be alone there, too. The villa was filled with Nathaniel’s traces, and she would be very sad to see them.
"Uncle Marcus, I don't want to go home. Can you help me find a hotel?"
Marcus drove slowly out of the hospital with her. Aurelia looked out the window quietly and turned off her phone.
On the other side, someone in the ward was restless.
"Nathaniel, if you're worried about Aurelia, go and see her. I'll be fine. Why did my dad hit Aurelia?"
Chelsea pretended to blame Norman.
Nathaniel looked at the IV bottle by her bedside.
"Chelsea, if you are tired, take a short nap. I'll go out for a while."
"Don't worry, Nathaniel. I'm fine. You see Aurelia first. I'll feel guilty if something happens to her."
As soon as Nathaniel left, Chelsea pulled out the needle in her hand.
Maria reprimanded. "You manage to call him back. But now, you let him leave again. Do you really want him to go find that bitch?"
Chelsea took a deep breath. "Mom, I'm not really sick. He's been by my side all the time. He'll find it out. And I've been lying in bed. I feel uncomfortable. I don't want to get an injection. If he leaves now, he'll worry about me, too."
Maria touched her hair.
She said with a heartache, "Chelsea, I’m sorry."
She turned to Norman and asked, "Have you reached an agreement with that bitch?"
"Yes. Aurelia has a condition. She wants the Lake Villa."
Maria was very anxious.
"I know that bitch is not kind. She's greedy. How dare she ask you for the villa. That house belongs to Chelsea. If you give her that house, we'll get a divorce."
Norman was very annoyed.
"Alright, shut up. I'll think of a solution."
His phone rang. It was his assistant Reetle Dineel.
"Reetle, what's wrong?"
"Mr. Thompson, something is wrong. The Heilbronn Group suddenly withdrew the funds they gave us some time ago. Now many people are coming to the company for money. They say they want to dismantle the company. You'd better come back and handle it."
Norman looked at his palm, feeling annoyed.
Norman couldn't believe that all this was because he hit Aurelia. He thought, 'Nathaniel only loves his daughter, Chelsea. Why would Nathaniel target me for Aurelia?'
'He's as heartless as others have said.'
Norman’s small company was about to go through a crisis. If Nathaniel withdrew the funds at this time, his company would go bankrupt.
"Chelsea, call Nathaniel. My company is in crisis."
"Dad, don't worry. I'll call him right away."
Chelsea called Nathaniel. The word 'honey' on the screen kept jumping, just like her heart.
