Chapter 319 Looks Like Me

The video ended quickly.

Nathaniel turned it off and refreshed the messages. He felt a bit disappointed when nothing new appeared.

"Why is it over? Did you only record one?"

Zack replied, feeling wronged, "Mr. Heilbronn, I secretly recorded this. Please don't let Mrs. Heilbronn know, or she'll scold me."

Nathaniel raised an eyebrow and complained, "It's only a few seconds long, you only took photos of my son's profile, you didn't capture a single front-facing shot."

Zack thought to himself, 'I shouldn't have recorded it. I risked getting scolded by Mrs. Heilbronn to show you your kid, and now I'm getting scolded by you. What's the point?'

"Mr. Heilbronn, don't worry. Your son isn't losing. We'll see him more often. Once Mrs. Heilbronn calms down, your family will be reunited."

Nathaniel's frown eased a bit. That was something he wanted to hear.

He opened the short video again and watched it repeatedly. In the video, Jacoba was tinkering with a very tall robot in the living room, looking focused.

Zack had only captured the child's side profile. Nathaniel paused the video and observed closely, a smile spreading across his face.

"Do you think my son's ears look like mine?"

Zack, sitting in the front row, couldn't help but want to roll his eyes. He didn't believe that such a blurry video could show whose ears the child resembled. Aren't everyone's ears the same?

Zack thought this but didn't dare to say it out loud, 'Mr. Heilbronn, of course, your son looks like you!'

Nathaniel didn't catch the perfunctory tone in Zack's voice, "His hair looks like mine, and his eyebrows, neck, and hands too."

Zack secretly rolled his eyes. The hair was the same color, so that wasn't wrong. But the eyebrows weren't even visible in the video. And how did the neck come into this? Aren't everyone's necks the same?

"Mr. Heilbronn, the child looks just like you, especially the five fingers on his right hand. They're exactly the same."

Nathaniel glanced up, feeling that Zack was mocking him today. He sneered, thinking Zack was definitely envious of him

"You've been with your wife for years, right? Why haven't you had a child?" Nathaniel asked.

Zack straightened up and said, "Mr. Heilbronn, we're planning to get our marriage license this Wednesday. I'm asking for a day off in advance. After we get married, we'll start trying for a baby."

Nathaniel was in a good mood. Today, he would agree to anything Zack asked, even a raise.

"No problem. Make sure you finish your work ahead of time. When you return, go to the finance office to collect your wedding gift money."

Zack said with a slight smile,"Mr. Heilbronn, does our company have this benefit?"

Nathaniel, still staring at the video of his son, said, "It's a new addition. You're lucky to be the first to get it."

Nathaniel couldn't take his eyes off the screen. He remembered Aurelia calling their son Jacob and thought, what a good name!

But compared to that, he thought Dorothy's name sounded even better, like a name for a very elegant girl.

He swiped his thumb across Jacob's little face on the screen, suddenly missing Dorothy immensely. He had held Dorothy once at the Coral Bay jewelry exhibition, but back then, he didn't know then that Dorothy was his child. If he had known, he would have taken her home right away.

He regretted not holding his precious daughter more.

Thinking of Dorothy calling him "Daddy" while hanging around his neck, his heart softened, and he felt like he was in a honey pot.

When would he hear Dorothy call him "Daddy"?

Nathaniel opened the chat with Dorothy. The conversation was still on the message he had sent a few days ago, which Dorothy hadn't replied to.

He pressed the button to send a voice message to Dorothy: [Dorothy, do you want to come to Imperick?]

The car soon arrived at the Heilbronn Group building.

Nathaniel got out and took the executive elevator upstairs, constantly refreshing the chat with Dorothy, waiting for her message.

When he reached the top floor and saw the large empty space outside his office, Nathaniel paused. Instead of going to his office, he turned and sat on the sofa in the hall.

"Turn this area into a children's zone. Place a large slide and some ocean balls in that corner. Add a princess swing here and buy more robots to place on the top floor."

Nathaniel patted the sofa he was sitting on and said, "Move all the sofas and tables out!"

As Zack noted all this down, he thought to himself, ' Nathaniel used to like a clean and minimalist style and hated clutter.'

This area was initially decorated by the administrative girls to be quite cozy and artistic. But Mr. Heilbronn had taken one look and ordered everything to be removed, leaving just two single sofas. No fancy stuff, he had said.

And now he wanted to turn it into a children's play area?

Was Mr. Heilbronn planning to work and babysit at the same time?

Zack said, "No problem, Mr. Heilbronn."

Zack silently noted down all the instructions. He would have to remind the colleagues in charge of procurement to buy the highest quality items. Given how much Mr. Heilbronn doted on his kids, anything less would surely get them scolded.

Meanwhile, Aurelia was fretting over the room full of stuff.

Nathaniel only cared about sending gifts, not considering how hard it was to clean up all these toys.

Luckily, Jacob was a well-behaved child and listened to her. They had agreed to open just one toy a day. After opening a dinosaur toy, he didn't ask to open any other boxes.

But with all these things in the living room, the house looked extremely messy, like a warehouse.

Jacoba, on the other hand, couldn't be happier. He hadn't expected to receive so many gifts from one trip to Imperick. He was so fond of Imperick now that he even considered settling down there.

"Mommy, are these toys from that man again?"

Aurelia pondered for a while and answered, "Yes."

Jacoba turned his little head, looking serious, "Mommy, is he trying to pursue you?"

Aurelia was shocked. She hadn't expected Jacob to be so mature and think on that level.

"Jacob, do you know what pursuing means?"

"Yes. Livia from my class is courting me. She said she considers me her best friend and gave me her hair tie, saying she wants to marry me."

Aurelia was shocked and she thought to herself, 'Are kids this mature nowadays?'

Fortunately, children in kindergarten speak innocently. If they were in middle school, she'd have to worry about young love.

Aurelia smiled and said, "That man is a special friend of Mommy's in Imperick. We've had many unpleasant experiences, and he's apologizing to Mommy."

Jacoba suddenly became tense, thinking, 'could the man Mommy is talking about be my bad daddy?'

Can't win me back
