Chapter 189 Protecting Her

The sound of knocking brought Aurelia back to her senses, and she went to open the door.

Outside, Nathaniel stood in a neat suit, with Zack and a few movers behind him.

Zack said, "Aurelia, they're here to help you move."

He led the way inside, followed by the rest.

Zack directed a few people to pack up the house, while Nathaniel took her downstairs and into the car.

Aurelia had never been to the new villa Reed bought for her. As the car drove back, she looked around.

Just as Reed said, the area had a lot of greenery, the air was pleasant, and it was suitable for her to live during pregnancy.

The villa was much larger than the Bloom Villa. The nanny and the nutritionist had already tidied up the house. As soon as they arrived, they stood in two rows to greet them,

"Mr. Heilbronn, Mrs. Heilbronn."

Aurelia was startled by such a grand scene. When she and Nathaniel lived in the Bloom Villa, they only had Betty to cook and clean for them. Nathaniel didn't like having too many people around and found it inconvenient to have outsiders in the house.

She looked up at him, and said, "We don't need so many people, do we?"

Nathaniel raised an eyebrow and said, "Grandfather handpicked them. We're a family of four now, of course, we need them. Let's go upstairs and take a look."

Aurelia was amused by his words.

Hand in hand, they went upstairs. Aurelia noticed that every corner of the villa had protective strips and voice-activated lights.

Next to the master bedroom were two finely decorated baby rooms, complete with cribs, bottles, and small toys, more thoughtfully prepared than she had imagined.

The entire villa was decorated in her favorite style, warm and simple, finally bidding farewell to the bleak Bloom Villa.

Nathaniel handed over the house deed, smiling,"May I share a bed with you?"

Aurelia was taken aback. His recent changes were so significant that she often felt like she was dreaming, as it didn't feel real at all.

She took the house deed from his hand and solemnly told him, "Nathaniel, this is our last chance. If you don't do well, I'll take the baby and leave, never to return."

Nathaniel said hurriedly, "Aurelia, I will do my best!"

Aurelia didn't know if this counted as his promise. She had been disappointed by him too many times. This time, she accepted his goodwill with a gambling mindset.

Voices came from downstairs. Beatrice brought Ashley to celebrate their move into the new house.

Their conversation ended there, and Nathaniel helped her downstairs.

"Mom, you're here?"

Aurelia greeted politely.

Beatrice managed a tight-lipped smile, her eyes shifting back and forth between the two of them. "You two need to work things out and stop jumping to divorce papers at the drop of a hat. Now that there are babies on the way, it's time to grow up and set a good example for them"

It was rare for Beatrice to speak like this. Aurelia knew she was still upset, especially after seeing the stock transfer documents Nathaniel had given her at the hospital. Beatrice had clearly formed an opinion.

She nodded without saying anything else.

But Ashley brought up the topic again.

"Aurelia, you're really something. You got pregnant right after Grandpa made his will. But you really hit the jackpot, having two kids for the Heilbronnn family almost took away more than half of Grandpa's fortune."

Aurelia didn't know what she was talking about and was about to speak when Nathaniel spoke first, "Stop talking nonsense. If you're here to congratulate, do it properly. If you can't, then leave!"

Nathaniel's words left Beatrice feeling a bit embarrassed. Though he was addressing Ashley, his disregard for her, as his mother, was hard to ignore.

"Ashley, put the things down," Nathaniel said sharply.

Beatrice, clearly upset, took a seat in the center of the sofa, her face set in a stern expression.

Ashley shot a disdainful glance at Aurelia and muttered under her breath, "It's not like being pregnant is that big of a deal. Chelsea's having my brother's baby too. Who knows who'll end up with a son?"

Nathaniel's anger flared up. He walked over, grabbed Ashley by the back of her shirt, and warned, "Either shut up or get out."

This time he used the word "get out."

Beatrice was furious, scolding, "Speak to your sister more politely. Ashley has been bullied by you since she was little. You don't act like a brother at all."

Ashley threw the things in her hand onto the coffee table, almost tossing them out. The box she threw open contained two pairs of gold bracelets and two longevity locks, gifts from Beatrice for the babies.

With Beatrice backing her up today, she was even less afraid. She directly ignored Nathaniel, took off her slippers, and put her bare feet on the edge of the coffee table, looking like a spoiled princess waiting to be served.

In the kitchen, lunch was prepared according to Aurelia's taste, with a balanced mix of meat and vegetables filling the table.

The unpleasant conversation ended, and the four of them went to the dining room.

Before anyone else could sit down, Ashley had already started eating. When she bit into the fish, she chewed a few times and then spat it out.

"Bro, where did you find this chef? This fish tastes awful, just sour and nothing else."

Nathaniel frowned and said, "If you don't want to eat, go watch TV. Don't ruin our appetites."

The fish was specially made in a sweet and sour flavor as per his instructions. Aurelia had changed her taste and liked sour food now.

Just as Nathaniel was about to serve Aurelia a piece, Ashley had dumped half a bottle of chili powder into the dishes, and soon enough, everything but the two vegetable dishes was drowned in spice. The kitchen's careful balance of flavors was ruined, all turned into fiery concoctions by her hands.

Aurelia, still recovering from a cold, couldn't handle spicy food at all. Besides, her doctor had specifically advised her to stick to a bland diet during her pregnancy. She'd barely had anything spicy since then.

The atmosphere at the table grew tense. Ashley didn't seem to think her actions were a problem. She enjoyed the spicy twist she'd given to the food, as if the chef's efforts weren't worth her consideration.

Nathaniel, struggling to keep his cool, finally snapped. As he stared at the table of overly spicy dishes, he couldn't take it anymore. With a sharp clatter, he threw his fork down onto the table.

He said harshly, "Don't come here anymore. If you want to eat something, go to a restaurant. This is not a place for you to pick and choose."

Ashley's hand, which was picking up food, stopped, and her eyes immediately filled with tears. Nathaniel usually scolded her as a brother, but no matter how harsh, he had never warned her so coldly and sternly.

She was so scared that she withdrew her hand, feeling extremely wronged.

Her friends often said that once a brother had a wife, there was no place for the sister in the family. She never believed it.

Before, when she bullied Aurelia in front of him, he never said a word. In this house, she was always the little princess. Even after scolding her, Nathaniel would still give her pocket money to appease her and never really lost his temper with her.

Beatrice also felt that Ashley had gone too far, but she still scolded Nathaniel, "Nathaniel, talk to Ashley properly. She can understand. Yelling like this is scary."

Then she turned to Ashley and said, "Ashley, apologize to your brother."

Aurelia sat next to Nathaniel, feeling like an outsider.

Seeing Nathaniel protect her, she was touched inside.
