Chapter 80 Help Her Find Samuel
Aurelia arrived at her destination, where Timothy had been waiting for a long time. As soon as she drove up, she saw Timothy waving at her.
"Aurelia, isn't it a bit risky for just the two of us?"
Timothy felt it necessary to bring a few helpers along. It was somewhat dangerous for them to barge into someone else's home without anything in hand. After all, the repair shop was full of men who could easily handle them.
"I brought two people."
Aurelia called Felix and had them come over.
When Timothy saw the two burly young men following, he felt much more confident.
"Let's go!"
The four of them headed towards the repair shop.
As Aurelia walked, she observed the car repair shop. It was not small in scale and occupied a large yard.
Several problematic cars were parked in the yard, and a few mechanics were working, the sounds of repairs filling the air. Soon, someone noticed their arrival; a young man named Bob of about twenty approached.
"Do you need car repairs?"
Bob looked around but didn't see any cars needing repairs, looking puzzled.
Timothy was quick to respond, following Bob's lead.
"My brakes are malfunctioning. Could you please help us fix them?"
Bob opened all the doors. "Drive the car in, and once these cars are fixed, a worker will take a look at yours."
"Can Jimmy Cox help me with the repairs? My car has always been serviced by him, and he's the only one I trust."
Timothy casually lied, referring to the master mechanic who used to repair cars for Aurelia's mother, Helen.
Bob hesitated. "Do you know my uncle?"
"Yes, I've been his loyal customer. I don't feel comfortable leaving this old car anywhere else for repairs. It's acting up again, and I need Jimmy's help."
Bob sneered, turned away, and went back to work, seeming reluctant to engage further.
"You're lying. My uncle hasn't repaired cars for many years. Who are you, and what do you want with him?"
Timothy cleared his throat. "We are indeed old acquaintances of Jimmy's, just here to ask for a favor. If it's convenient, please let us know."
After Timothy's words, the two bodyguards stepped forward with a domineering air, indicating that they needed to be informed today, whether it was convenient or not, and they wouldn't leave until they saw Jimmy in person.
Bob rubbed his neck in resignation.
"I'm really curious. People keep coming to see my uncle, claiming to be old friends. You should know that he's been dead for days, right?"
Aurelia's heart turned cold in an instant.
"Jimmy is dead?"
"Yes, a woman came last month, saying she wanted to introduce him to another job, trying to get him to leave this place. My uncle disagreed. Three days later, he had a car accident and died on the spot."
Aurelia was genuinely shocked. She couldn't believe this was another coincidence. The person who killed her mother, Helen, had now used the same method to kill the only person who knew the truth.
The trail ended here.
"Do you remember what the woman looked like?"
Bob fell into thought and took a while to respond.
"I didn't get a clear look. She came at night, wore a mask and sunglasses, high heels, and long curly hair."
Aurelia had a person in mind and showed a photo on her phone to the young man.
"Is this the person?"
Bob shook his head. "I can't be sure. I didn't see her clearly that night, but the hairstyle is somewhat similar."
As they left the repair shop, Aurelia felt as if her soul had been sucked out. The only lead she had painstakingly uncovered over the years had vanished just like that. She was once again a step too late.
The culprit had already acted a month ago, destroying the evidence.
"Timothy, do you think there's still a chance to uncover the truth in this matter?"
Aurelia leaned against the car, overwhelmed with disappointment, her voice lacking strength.
"Aurelia, don't lose heart. Whenever someone deliberately does something, there will always be a flaw. As long as we don't give up, we will eventually solve this case."
Aurelia sniffled. "I'll double your reward if you find out the truth."
Timothy smiled brightly. "With those words from you, I must solve this case for you. By the way, the villa you asked me to keep an eye on was recently sold by Chelsea."
Aurelia stood up straight suddenly, her whole body tensing. The house was her mother's legacy, and she hadn't figured out how to reclaim it, only to find out that Chelsea had sold it off first.
That house held all her childhood memories.
"Who did she sell it to?"
Timothy tapped his temple, trying to remember. "The new owner is named Linda Moore."
"Do you know who this Linda is?"
"Linda, fourteen years old, is the heiress of the Moore Group."
Aurelia's mind quickly pieced things together. The Moore Group's heiress would be Oscar's sister. At just fourteen, she probably didn't buy the house herself.
She felt the need to ask Oscar about this matter and reclaim the house.
"Chelsea's urgency to sell the house must be related to resolving the crisis at the Thompson Group, where Norman, your father, is facing economic difficulties."
Aurelia corrected. "You can just call him Norman. We have cut off all contact, and we no longer have a father-daughter relationship."
Continuing from where he was interrupted, Timothy added, "Norman recently sold off a lot of things, not just the house but also the family's collections and jewelry. All these items were bought by the same person, which indeed resolved his company's financial difficulties."
Aurelia felt heartbroken. Norman didn't have any jewelry; he sold off Helen's treasures.
"Do you know who the buyer is?"
"I haven't found out yet. I'll let you know once we do."
That afternoon, Aurelia returned home and, just half an hour before the stock market closed, bought ten thousand shares of the Thompson Group.
She contacted the financial manager she had previously dealt with for the trust and arranged to cash out the remaining investments.
She was about to do something big.
Meanwhile, Nathaniel, who was on a business trip in Coral Bay, had just signed a factory contract. There wasn't much going on here, and he didn't need to be here personally. His main purpose had already been explained to Aurelia at home: to help her find Samuel.
He had had enough of days where Aurelia in his arms slept and called out another man's name.
Sitting in the car, Nathaniel casually flipped through the contract he had just signed.
"Mr. Heilbronn, there's something unusual happening in the stock market!"
Zack seemed to have discovered something extraordinary and handed his phone to Nathaniel.
"The Thompson Group's nearly bankrupt stock surged to its daily limit in the last half hour before closing. I checked; there were large purchases, and countless retail investors followed suit unthinkingly. This struggling stock turned its losses into gains, lifting similar stocks' prices as well. Industrial stocks all turned green in the final half hour, with the Thompson Group leading the way."
Nathaniel was quite surprised. "Who would buy the shares of a company on the brink of bankruptcy? Is he out of his mind?"
Zack cleared his throat; Mr. Heilbronn always spoke so directly.
"Perhaps someone sees its long-term potential and is preparing for a long-term investment."
"This company can't develop at all. Are the people buying these large quantities of the Thompson Group's shares betting on its massive debts or products of the short shelf life?"
Zack, who was usually good at debating, was at a loss for words. He thought, ‘The Thompson Group specializes in manufacturing car parts. Isn’t it outrageous for Mr. Heilbronn to say their products had a shelf life of only three months? After all, it was a publicly traded company, and the boss was his father-in-law; he didn't mince words.’
As they debated heatedly, Zack's phone rang in front of Nathaniel. Nathaniel glanced at the screen. "Call from the galaxy's most enchanting wife." The words flashed across the screen, causing an unexpected ripple of amusement to cross Nathaniel's usually impassive face.
