Chapter 144 He Regretted Very Much
After the call, Chelsea was satisfied and started eating the food in the meal box with a fork.
Nathaniel looked a bit melancholic. Realizing Aurelia's anger, he regretted making the call. He felt guilty toward Aurelia and didn't want to upset her over a few pieces of Lemon tart.
Seeing Chelsea eating happily, he fell silent. Chelsea finished her meal, feeling great, and threw the fork aside before entwining her hands around Nathaniel's arm.
"Nathaniel, are you nervous about me or your son?" Chelsea said as she placed his hand on her abdomen.
Nathaniel felt an inexplicable resistance upon hearing her mention "your son," which made him uncomfortable. "Chelsea," he said, pulling his hand back abruptly, his expression turning cold.
Chelsea coquettishly said, "Just touch it. It is our baby. Aren't you curious about what he will look like?"
"Chelsea, I actually don't like children that much." Nathaniel wanted to say that he had never planned on having children. Fearing Chelsea's reaction, he held back his words and expressed more tactfully, "I'm not really looking forward to that baby in your belly. He shouldn't have come into this world."
If possible, Nathaniel hoped Chelsea would get rid of that little thing. It was only because of her health that he couldn't bring himself to be so cruel and deprive her of the chance to be a mother.
After hearing his words, Chelsea felt frustrated. She comforted herself, thinking that whether he liked children or not wasn't important. What mattered was that she could use this pregnancy to drive Aurelia away from him.
"Nathaniel, will you marry me?" Chelsea looked at him expectantly, touching her belly. "I don't want the baby to be born as a bastard. I would rather die with him."
Upon hearing her extreme words again, Nathaniel felt extremely troubled. Even though he had already signed the divorce agreement with Aurelia, he didn't want to tell Chelsea at that moment.
Nathaniel's emotions were complex.
He imagined living with Chelsea in the future, where she would often use extreme words like death to threaten him. Adding a troublesome kid into the mix made him feel suffocated just thinking about it.
On the other hand, Aurelia, despite their arguments, gave him enough freedom and personal space. She never interfered with his life, friendships, or work, but provided him with solace.
He found himself regretting signing the divorce agreement.
"Chelsea, your heart condition makes having a baby risky. Why don't we reconsider it?" Nathaniel said.
Chelsea teared up at his words. "Nathaniel, what do you mean?"
Nathaniel felt a headache coming on.
"Take a rest. I have to go." Nathaniel wanted to smoke to calm down. He felt that his request for a divorce yesterday was too impulsive. At this point, he couldn't bring himself to beg Aurelia and tell her he regretted it. It was too embarrassing for him to do so.
Chelsea noticed his off mood but didn't dare to stop him. She watched him leave.
After Nathaniel left, Chelsea tidied up and changed into a long dress. She applied light makeup and checked her bag, feeling relieved to see the items she had obtained from a private doctor inside.
Living nearby were friends specially invited by Nathaniel. Chelsea wasn't worried about running into former colleagues who might gossip about her. She hadn't forgotten her main purpose for coming here; the pregnancy was just a minor surprise.
The yacht was on its return journey and would dock in the afternoon. She still had things to do, and time was running out.
Chelsea knocked on Ashley's door. "Ashley, come out for a drink."
Ashley was already dressed up, and while she had texted Caleb, she had yet to receive a response, feeling a bit disappointed.
"Let's go." The two went to the bar, where Ashley ordered a cocktail and Chelsea ordered juice but then changed it to lemon water.
Looking around and seeing no one, Chelsea discreetly took out a small packet of powder from her bag. It was an abortion drug she obtained from an underground private doctor. She believed that made Aurelia has an abortion was the only way she could feel at ease.
To Chelsea, Aurelia's pregnancy was like a ticking timebomb. If Aurelia decided to tell Nathaniel about the pregnancy, the situation might change.
Chelsea lacked confidence that Nathaniel would ultimately choose her over Aurelia, so she had to be ruthless.
Ashley was alarmed to see Chelsea pouring the white powder into her drink, which quickly dissolved.
"Chelsea, are you crazy? You're pregnant now. You can't take medicine indiscriminately. If you're feeling unwell, we can go ashore and see a doctor.."
Chelsea's eyes showed fierceness. "Ashley, whether the baby in my belly can become a Heilbronn depends on this glass of water."
Ashley was puzzled. "What are you talking about? Of course, my brother's child will be a Heilbronn."
At that moment, Aurelia, who had just finished breakfast, walked out of the restaurant. She hadn't noticed the intense gazes from afar.
Chelsea asked, "Ashley, you'll help me, right?"
Ashley also saw Aurelia approaching and straightened her back. "Of course, as good friends, we have each other's backs. Trust me. I won't stand with an outsider."
Chelsea ordered another glass of lemon water and held it with her left hand. "Ashley, let's go over there."
Aurelia, still full of anger from breakfast, looked at the remaining Lemon tart on her plate for a while before leaving the restaurant, only to run into the last person she wanted to see.
"Aurelia, what a coincidence. Let's have a drink and chat." Ashley's words were provocative.
Aurelia gave her a cold glance. "Sorry, there's nothing to talk about between us."
Ashley's spoiled temperament was about to flare up, but Chelsea stopped her. "Aurelia, it's rare that we all have time and get together. Why not have a drink together?"
Aurelia knew these two were up to no good. She had already been warned to watch out for Chelsea. Without her bodyguards and facing two against one, she felt a bit uneasy.
She was having baby, which made her vulnerable. Before, she had nothing to fear, but now she feared any harm coming to the baby in her belly, something she would never forgive herself for.
"You two have your drinks. Get out of my way." Aurelia continued walking forward.
Ashley and Chelsea blocked her path.
Chelsea changed her usual demeanor, adopting a reconciliatory tone. "Aurelia, no hurry. I'm here today to apologize to you. This baby is a bit disobedient, but since it's here, don't mind it. We sisters shouldn't be like this. We are supposed to be family. We should help each other when facing difficulties.
Aurelia gave a cold laugh. "My family is long gone." Chelsea wasn't considered family, more like an enemy.
Chelsea forced a smile and placed the glass of lemon water from her right hand near Aurelia.
"Aurelia, come on. What happened between our parents was water under a bridge. We share the same blood, which is a solid fact. We were born as sisters and should face difficulties together. I've always regarded you as family," Chelsea said.
With a clink of the glasses, Chelsea sipped her water. "Aurelia, give me some face. Believe it or not, when I call you sister, I mean it. There are only a few truly close family members in one's life."
