Chapter 483 Banned
Zack went home that day feeling deeply moved. That night, he held his wife close and poured out his heart.
"Babe, no matter how your family treats me, you're the love of my life, and I'll always be good to you."
Zack snapped back to reality, realizing Nathaniel was still waiting for his response.
"Mr. Heilbronn, keeping a good relationship with your wife's family is simple. The key is to treat Mrs. Heilbronn well and show it. Be attentive and let her family see how genuinely you care for her. Only then will they feel comfortable entrusting her to you."
Nathaniel's eyes lit up, as if he had an epiphany.
Treating her well was something he could do, but he usually kept a low profile. From now on, he would need to be more demonstrative, especially in front of Joe.
He now had a clear direction.
"Have you tracked down the ID that posted about Aurelia and Phoenix being a couple?"
The sudden change in topic caught Zack off guard. After a few seconds, he replied, "Yeah, the ID is linked to a hospital in Silver Ridge District."
Nathaniel stood up from his leather chair, grabbed his suit jacket from the coat rack, and draped it over his arm. "Let's head to the hospital now," he said.
Zack hurried ahead to call the elevator.
The car quickly arrived at the location indicated by the IP address. Nathaniel got out and walked toward the building.
With so many people coming and going from the hospital every day, finding the person responsible wouldn't be quick. It might require other methods. But today, he felt an inexplicable unease and had to come to the hospital, even if it turned out to be a wild goose chase.
Nathaniel walked steadily forward, with Zack following behind.
"Mr. Heilbronn, I'll start by asking the director for a list of inpatients and their family members' phone numbers to narrow down our search."
"Do what you need to."
Nathaniel continued walking. As he passed a small pavilion near the greenery, a familiar voice caught his attention. He turned to see a woman inside, visibly upset, and she looked very familiar.
"Isn't that..."
Zack, with his sharp eyes, immediately recognized her. "Mr. Heilbronn, that's Amy. She used to work in the Heilbronn Group's design department and often followed Chelsea around. She bullied Mrs. Heilbronn and was later fired by you."
Nathaniel recalled the face from a meeting he had with the design department.
At that moment, Amy was arguing with someone, her emotions running high, even bordering on panic.
Nathaniel recognized the person she was talking to—it was Joe's private assistant. His heart sank. Joe would never do anything to harm Aurelia; he would only investigate the matter.
He was a step behind Joe.
He stopped to listen to the conversation in the pavilion.
Amy's lips were dry and cracked, her face streaked with tears. "Please, let me go. I had no choice. My son needs surgery next week, and I haven't been able to gather the money. I had no choice but to take that woman's money. Please understand a mother's heart. I swear I'll delete the post and never do it again. If my son loses me, he won't survive."
Amy clung to the man's leg, slowly sliding to her knees.
Joe's assistant, who had been with Joe for many years, shared his demeanor. He showed no sympathy for Amy's kneeling and coldly questioned her.
"Mr. Semona recently lent you money without asking for repayment, and you turned around and took someone else's money to harm Ms. Aurelia Semona, causing her to be harassed by Phoenix's fans. Did you ever consider how she felt?"
Amy's voice was hoarse from crying. "I was desperate. I'm sorry to Aurelia, but I had no choice. I couldn't come up with $300,000 for my son's surgery. It's life-saving money. I'll apologize to her and beg for forgiveness. Please, help me."
Joe's assistant pulled his leg away, stepping back in disgust. "Get this straight. It's not Ms. Semona who won't let you go; it's you who won't let her go. What did she do to deserve so much abuse? She can't even go out alone now. Did you think about your conscience when you did those things?"
Amy was too choked up to respond.
Joe's assistant offered a solution. "First, delete the post and publicly apologize online. Second, repay the money Mr. Semona lent you. After that, stay away from Ms. Semona. If you see her, avoid her. If you do this, I might help plead your case."
Amy's voice trembled. "I have no money left. I gave all the money I raised to the hospital. I only have $700 on me. You're pushing me to my death..."
"You're not willing to meet either condition, are you? Then see you in court. Ms. Semona has already given you a chance by not handing this directly to her lawyer. If you don't want this chance, then prepare for jail. Remember, this is the path you chose."
Amy let out another wail. "Give me some time to figure something out!"
Nathaniel stood still, feeling a tap on his shoulder. He turned to see Phoenix, dressed casually like a college student.
If he didn't think Phoenix was so fragile, Nathaniel might have taken a swing at him.
"What are you doing here?"
Phoenix removed his mask and pulled his cap lower. "Whatever you're doing here, I'm doing the same."
Nathaniel gave him a once-over. At least Phoenix wasn't a bad person. He knew he had implicated Aurelia in this mess and had put some effort into tracking down the hospital.
"How did you find this place?"
Phoenix replied irritably, "Nathaniel, you need to control the women you attract. Don't let them cause trouble. It's disgusting."
Nathaniel's eyelid twitched. "I don't have any women. Besides Aurelia, other women are like a third gender to me."
Phoenix was annoyed. They were having a serious conversation, and Nathaniel had to bring up Aurelia again. Did she even agree to any of this?
"Let's not pretend. It was Lori, the one who desperately wants to marry you. She gave that woman $300,000 and instructed her to post the photos and information."
Phoenix added, "This mess isn't my fans' fault. It's your problem. Don't blame me later."
Nathaniel frowned. He had met Lori, an actress, at a party. They barely exchanged a few words, but Lori had latched onto him.
Nathaniel took out his phone and made a call. "Replace Lori in the current project. If you can't, I'll pull my investment. No negotiation."
After a brief exchange, Nathaniel added, "From now on, if Lori auditions for anything, reject her."
When he hung up, Phoenix gave him a thumbs-up. "Nathaniel, you're ruthless."
Nathaniel's face remained impassive, but he was seething inside. He wanted to lash out at Phoenix, but had no grounds. Today's mess was indirectly his fault.
That scheming Lori dared to harm Aurelia. She would pay the price.
