Chapter 327 Don't Call Me Bro
Ashley was too furious to find her words, but her friends started whispering.
"I don't think Mr. Heilbronn looks at Ms. Semona the same way he looks at Chelsea. Despite what Ashley says, it seems to me that he likes Ms. Semona."
"I feel the same. Eyes can't lie. Didn't you notice how accommodating Mr. Heilbronn was to Ms. Semona just now?"
"But Ms. Semona has a child. What man would want to take on the responsibility of raising another man's kid?"
"Don't doubt it. Look at how willing Mr. Heilbronn is. He even bought clothes for Ms. Semona's son and let him choose them himself. Honestly, my dad has never bought me a single piece of clothing."
One of them sighed and then said to Ashley, "I think your brother wants to be a stepdad to that kid. Don't you think your brother is kind of..."
She wanted to say "simp," but felt it was inappropriate to use such a term to describe the man who was the idol of many women.
Ashley was completely infuriated. "Don't talk nonsense. Nathaniel likes Chelsea, not that woman."
Her shout was loud enough for everyone around to hear.
Nathaniel, who had just walked over, was so focused on looking at Aurelia that he didn't even notice Ashley was there. No wonder Oscar said his sister was causing trouble; just hearing that made him angry.
Nathaniel's expression darkened. "Ashley, who you befriend is your business, but don't involve me. You've always been disrespectful to your sister-in-law, and you haven't changed a bit over the years. Don't come asking me for money next month. I think I've been giving you too much allowance, and it's spoiled you."
Ashley pouted instantly upon hearing her allowance was gone. She relied on Nathaniel for money; what Reed gave her wasn't even enough to buy a bag.
"Are you seriously going to treat me like this over someone else, bro? I'm telling Mom you're being mean to me!" Ashley complained.
Nathaniel frowned.
He was tired of hearing this from Ashley. She had been saying it since she was a child, tattling even into her twenties. Beatrice had been trying to set him up with women for years, disregarding his wishes and giving his private number to her friends' daughters, which had caused him considerable trouble.
Mentioning Beatrice, Nathaniel's irritation surged. "Go ahead and tell her. Also, let her know I'm changing my number. If there's an emergency, she can reach me through Zack."
Ashley was stunned, pondering what Nathaniel meant by that. His words were full of annoyance. How could he treat his mother and sister like this, yet speak so differently to Aurelia?
The comparison made Ashley want to explode in public.
Nathaniel paused and then said, "Don't say such careless things. My private life is off-limits for comments. That includes you, Sis, and Mom. And for the record, Aurelia is not an outsider. I'll clear things up with the family later."
He wanted to say, "Aurelia is the mother of my children."
Everyone was an adult with their own life. He had his own little family and was trying his best to make up for his mistakes to the people he loved and their two children. He wanted to rebuild this family. But his own family kept doing things that were hard to tolerate.
Other parents worried about their children's happiness and hoped for a harmonious family. Looking back, his own mother had never done anything to support his small family; instead, she often caused trouble.
Aurelia had never complained before. If it were someone else, there would have been countless conflicts between her and her mother-in-law by now.
Ashley forced out a couple of tears. "Bro, are you seriously going to spoil this woman? She had a child with another man. Why should the Heilbronn family raise someone else's child? Are you that desperate for a woman? Mom has introduced so many to you. Just pick one! Grandpa wants a great-grandchild, but he doesn't want to raise someone else's kid!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Aurelia splashed a glass of wine on her. She wouldn't tolerate such thoughtless remarks, especially when they insulted her child.
"Ashley, watch your mouth. If you dare say anything bad about my child again, there will be consequences. You can't just say whatever you want and expect everyone to put up with it!" Aurelia said.
Ashley was stunned for a moment, then raised her hand to retaliate. She still held a grudge from the last time Aurelia splashed her at the restaurant. And now Aurelia did it again.
Before she could swing her hand, Nathaniel tightly restrained her.
Ashley glared at Nathaniel, her biological brother, who was watching her get bullied and siding with Aurelia.
Tears streamed down Ashley's face, mingling with red wine, creating a bitter taste in her mouth.
Nathaniel was really angry this time, his face dark and intimidating. He was naturally cold, and his cold expression made him even more frightening.
Nathaniel looked at Ashley as if she were an idiot. He couldn't understand why his sister acted so thoughtlessly. She had received a top-notch education since childhood, with no expense spared, far more than most people.
"If you can't speak properly, then keep your mouth shut. Stay away from the people around me. Don't contact me unless it's absolutely necessary, and don't show up in front of me. Go home and learn some manners before you go out again. Stop embarrassing the Heilbronn family every time you open your mouth!" Nathaniel spoke.
Ashley cried. "Let go of me. You're not my brother anymore. I never want to call you 'brother' again."
"Fine, then don't." Nathaniel let go of her hand and shielded Aurelia behind him, afraid his crazy sister would act up again.
After a moment of stunned silence, Nathaniel turned to Aurelia and asked, "Do you want to go somewhere quieter?"
At this moment, Oscar, who had been watching the drama, jumped in. "Aurelia, let's go upstairs for a cup of tea. It's a bit noisy here. And there are some people who are just too irritating."
Aurelia, wearing high heels, was tired from standing for so long. "Let's go."
Just as they were about to leave, someone shouted from behind, "Does anyone know first aid? Someone has collapsed. Call 911!"
The atmosphere in the hall was disrupted, and everyone stopped talking and looked towards the commotion. Several people had already sprung into action, rushing to help.
Aurelia's heart skipped a beat. An incident at her company's annual party meant they had to save the person first and take responsibility.
She led the way into the crowd, with Nathaniel following closely behind.
Someone had already called 911, and the hall was in chaos. Someone in the front shouted, "She has no pulse!"
