Chapter 482 Nathaniel Defends Aurelia
Before Aurelia could finish speaking, Joe stood up from the couch, buttoning the bottom button of his suit jacket.
"Pack your stuff. You're coming home with me."
He had left work early today only to pick up Aurelia. If he had been even a minute later, Nathaniel would have shown up. Better to leave now while they still had the chance.
Joe had no desire to see Nathaniel's annoying face.
Aurelia shut down her computer and started gathering her things. Joe had already grabbed her coat and bag. He didn't say a word, but his posture made it clear he was in a hurry.
Aurelia quickened her pace, following him out the door.
"Next month is Grandma's birthday. Help Auntie with the preparations. It's just the two of you women at home, so it's best if you handle it. Be meticulous. If you run into any issues, let me know."
Aurelia nodded. "Auntie handed over the catering arrangements to me a couple of days ago. I'm looking into the menu."
"The budget is generous, so feel free to make it luxurious. Order any ingredients you need in advance. I'll give you the guest list tomorrow so you can estimate the quantities. And..."
Joe hesitated before continuing, "Grandma's birthday dinner is also an opportunity to meet some promising young men. If you find someone suitable, let Grandma know. She'll make the arrangements. In Imperick, there's no family that the Semona Family can't match."
Aurelia wanted to say something in defense of Nathaniel, but Joe's phone rang. It was a work call from one of his employees.
She decided to stay silent and find a better time to discuss it with Joe.
Meanwhile, Nathaniel sneezed several times in his office.
He had spent the day paying to remove negative trending topics about him. Every time the other side posted something, he paid to take it down. It was a game of who had more money, and eventually, the other side gave up.
Nathaniel sat in his office chair, looking grim. Zack came in to report on work, speaking quickly and waiting for Nathaniel's instructions.
Nathaniel ignored Zack's work report and asked, "How's the lawyer doing? Have we filed the lawsuit? When will the case be heard? When will they apologize? Are we seeking damages?"
Zack was taken aback by the barrage of questions. He wasn't a lawyer.
"Mr. Heilbronn, let me call the lawyer and find out."
Zack called the lawyer and relayed Nathaniel's questions. The lawyer answered each one.
"Mr. Heilbronn, we've identified everyone who insulted Mrs. Aurelia Heilbronn online. We've also found the person who sent the rat. The lawsuit is ready. The court is closed for the day, but we'll file it tomorrow. The hearing should be scheduled within two weeks."
Nathaniel was dissatisfied with the two-week wait.
"Isn't that too long?"
"Mr. Heilbronn, there are many cases. We have to wait our turn."
Nathaniel reluctantly accepted this and hung up. He then posted a statement on his official account, warning the other side and asserting his position.
"Karma Jewelry's Ms. Semona is my girlfriend. Any media or individuals who keep linking her with the artist Phoenix for profit will face legal action from the Heilbronn Group's legal team.
We've identified everyone who posted inappropriate comments about my girlfriend online. The lawsuit will be filed tomorrow. Get ready to receive official documents. It won't be resolved easily. Be prepared."
He tagged everyone who had insulted Aurelia, not missing a single one.
Nathaniel's post scared a lot of people, who quickly deleted their comments. They didn't know that Nathaniel had already saved screenshots as evidence. They had heard of Nathaniel's reputation and knew he was not someone to mess with.
The most vocal online bullies never expected Nathaniel to get involved. Seeing his determination to pursue legal action, they were terrified.
Nathaniel's post quickly gained traction. By taking action against those who harassed Aurelia, he also publicly confirmed their relationship.
His account had previously only posted a few official updates about the Heilbronn Group. This was the first personal post, and it shocked many followers.
"Is this really Mr. Heilbronn, not a bot?"
"Mr. Heilbronn himself posted this. He must be really angry. Mr. Heilbronn, please clean up the internet. The cost of online harassment is too low. Make those bullies pay!"
The netizens were right. The two small media companies that had spread false news were shut down within a day. Nathaniel didn't give them any chance to recover. If they crossed his line, they were out of the industry and possibly out of the city.
After finishing his tasks, Nathaniel realized it was the end of the workday. He called Aurelia.
"Aurelia, what do you want for dinner? Should we cook at home or go to The Velvet Palate?"
Aurelia glanced at Joe, who was driving with a blank expression, and replied softly, "I'm in Joe's car. He picked me up today."
Nathaniel understood. Joe had come early to intercept her, afraid Nathaniel would take her away.
"Alright, I'll pick you up tomorrow morning."
Aurelia agreed. Nathaniel wanted to say more, but he heard Joe's voice on the phone.
"I'll take you tomorrow morning. No need to go out on your own."
Nathaniel paused. "Okay, talk to you tonight."
He wanted to be the knight in shining armor, but Joe wasn't having it. Nathaniel asked Zack, "Does your wife have any brothers or sisters?"
Zack answered honestly, "Yes, she has an older brother and a younger sister. She's the middle child."
"How do you get along with them?"
Zack thought for a moment. He didn't do much. His wife's family treated him well, especially on the day they got their marriage license. His mother-in-law cooked a big meal, with most of the dishes being his favorites.
After dinner, he overheard his mother-in-law talking to his wife in the kitchen.
"Mom, aren't you being a bit too obvious? The table was full of Zack's favorite dishes. We just got our marriage license today. What are you trying to do?"
"I have to treat him well. If I'm good to him, he'll be good to you. Your happiness depends on him. How can I not be good to him?"
