Chapter 407 The Goddess is Beside Me
Today, Karma Jewelry was bustling with excitement. No one was in the mood to work, and the entire company was immersed in the joy of winning the award.
With the announcement of the winners, everyone learned for the first time that their boss Anne had another name, Aurelia.
Soon, someone found old news linking Aurelia to Lolly, and everyone was shocked. The industry goddess they had been striving to emulate was right in front of them.
Everyone started talking excitedly, not afraid of the boss overhearing.
"Am I dreaming? Anna is Aurelia, and Aurelia is Lolly. Anna hid it so well!"
"Every day before I start sketching, I pray to my goddess Lolly. Now I find out my goddess is right here. Do you know how I feel right now? Pinch me."
"You two can pinch each other. I'm going to post on social media. Anna easily won this award. I want everyone to envy us."
The whole company was in an uproar, and everyone was thrilled.
To be honest, when Aurelia announced that she was changing the team's business strategy from custom designs to branding, everyone was willing to follow her but had little confidence.
Branding wasn't easy. If a few designers could just come together, create a few pieces, and sell a brand, the world would be full of brands.
Most startups that started from scratch failed before they achieved any results.
But now it was different. They knew that Karma Jewelry's Anne was the same Lolly who had disappeared from the design world a few years ago. This undoubtedly gave them confidence and courage. They might have doubted the low-key Anne, but they couldn't question the brilliant star Lolly.
Many had lamented Lolly's disappearance from the design world, like a pearl falling into obscurity. Now that she had reappeared, she brought joy to the industry once again.
With this award, they wouldn't lack exposure. Typically, the winner would receive a lot of interview requests.
In contrast, Aurelia remained calm, sitting in her office chair, sipping tea.
Aurora walked in with some documents, "Anna, why aren't you excited at all? Look at the chaos outside!"
Aurelia shrugged, not missing a beat in her work, "This is just the beginning. We have a lot more to do. You all need to learn to stay calm."
Aurora placed the documents on the table, "Anna, you are so amazing"
Aurelia looked up at her, and Aurora, now a fan, gazed at her with admiration.
"Anna, how can you be so low-key? A design genius like you should have eight bodyguards, four assistants, and insurance worth millions of dollars for your hands. These hands can create the most coveted jewelry!"
Aurelia was amused by Aurora's exaggerated words, "Alright, if everyone wants to celebrate, you can arrange it. But it has to be after work, and the location should be close to the office."
Aurora blinked and tentatively asked, "Budget?"
Aurelia smiled, "Unlimited."
"Yes!"
Aurora excitedly went out to announce, "Everyone, we're having dinner together tonight!"
Another round of cheers erupted.
Aurelia rubbed her eyes and picked up her phone to call Nathaniel, but it went straight to voicemail. He must still be on the plane.
At that moment, Joe's call came through.
"Aurelia, the bodyguards I found for you are downstairs at your company. They're keeping a low profile and won't interfere with your life, but I can't guarantee those guys will show up. Just letting you know, so if you see them, don't be scared. They're my people."
Aurelia didn't expect Joe to arrange it so quickly after casually mentioning it in the hospital. Aurora was right.
"Got it. How many did you find?"
"Four."
Not eight. Aurelia sighed in relief. "I'm having a company gathering tonight, so I won't be home for dinner. Don't wait for me."
"Call home and let them know. I have a social event tonight too, so I probably won't be back early."
"Got it."
After hanging up, Aurelia stood by the floor-to-ceiling window and looked downstairs. No one was there.
At noon, Nathaniel sent a message saying he had landed safely, and they hadn't contacted each other since.
In the evening, Aurora posted the event location in the group chat. It was a house party in a villa area near the company.
The villa had prepared ingredients for a barbecue, a karaoke room, card tables, pool tables, and various game cards.
These employees, who were usually serious at work, started to let loose in this setting.
Aurelia usually didn't joke around much, giving off a somewhat aloof vibe. Some employees who weren't very familiar with her didn't dare to speak to her.
But in this atmosphere, everyone opened up, disregarding the boss-employee dynamic, and started asking questions.
"Anna, when you released works under the pen name Lolly, your output was so low, only two pieces a year. With your work efficiency, you should be producing masterpieces constantly."
Aurelia smiled, "Back then, work was only a small part of my life. I had many other things to do, unlike now when I work long hours every day."
Everyone expressed regret, "With your brain and these hands, if you worked like you do now, you'd be making a fortune."
Someone chimed in, "Anna doesn't need money. Why tire herself out? But if it were me, with Anna's skills, I'd work non-stop, producing a piece a day. Then I could easily buy a big villa, a waterfront property, have ten maids, drive a Rolls-Royce, and eat imported foie gras every meal!"
Everyone laughed, "That's not how rich people live. Which rich person eats that every meal? They eat healthy, nutritious meals."
The person being teased snorted, unconvinced.
After dinner, someone pulled Aurelia to play cards.
When she first married into the Heilbronn family, she learned a bit from Beatrice to deal with the other ladies. But she had bad luck and always lost money. Those wealthy ladies played big, and Beatrice, feeling sorry for the money, stopped taking her. Aurelia was happy to be free.
Nathaniel, however, wanted her to socialize. He supported her participating in the ladies' activities, except for the more decadent ones, and even gave her a card to lose money while playing cards.
In his words, everyone needed a hobby. He supported activities like flower arranging, yoga, and dancing.
Back then, she was all about the man, revolving her life around him. Now, she just felt foolish.
If it were now, she'd max out the card he gave her. If she couldn't have him, she'd at least spend all his money.
