Chapter 287 Valentine's Day Epilogue

Aurelia had been married to Nathaniel for over six months now. They lived together, but honestly, they were just a notch above strangers.

Every day, Aurelia watched him move around the house, wanting to chat but feeling like they had nothing in common. He was always busy, coming home late from work and often taking calls during dinner.

Even after all this time, they still slept in separate rooms.

One evening, after a bath, Aurelia was lying on her big bed, bored and scrolling through her phone, when she realized it was Valentine's Day.

Facebook was flooded with pictures of flowers, rings, movie tickets, and all sorts of romantic stuff.

Aurelia couldn't help but think of Nathaniel. She really liked him and always hoped for more interaction. But his aloof and unapproachable demeanor made him seem a bit intimidating.

Seeing everyone else flaunt their love on this special day made her feel a bit down.

Aurelia tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep. She was trying to comfort herself, thinking he might fall in love with her eventually, when she heard a car engine downstairs.

She knew he was back. She perked up her ears, listening carefully to the sounds downstairs.

He came in and said something to Betty, and within two minutes, Betty was knocking on her door.

"Mrs. Heilbronn, are you awake? Mr. Heilbronn has something for you," Betty said.

Aurelia hadn't expected much from this holiday. Given their distant interactions, it was just another day for them.

Plus, he didn't seem like the type to give gifts on holidays.

Hearing Betty, Aurelia was pleasantly surprised. She quickly got out of bed and opened the door. Betty was holding a delicate gift box.

"Mrs. Heilbronn, this is from Mr. Heilbronn," Betty said.

Aurelia eagerly took the box and opened it to find a beautiful diamond bracelet inside.

Just as she was about to take out the bracelet, Nathaniel came upstairs and looked over at her from the doorway.

Aurelia, stunned, asked, "Is it expensive?"

Nathaniel replied coldly, "It's our own product, so it didn't cost anything."

Betty looked around and said, "Mr. Heilbronn, you came at the right time. I haven't had a chance to wash my hands after work. Could you help Mrs. Heilbronn put it on?"

Nathaniel seemed to be in a pretty good mood today. He took the bracelet and fastened it on Aurelia's wrist, even holding her hand and giving it a little shake, like he was admiring it.

"Mr. Heilbronn, Mrs. Heilbronn, the soup is ready. Would you like to come downstairs and have a bowl now?" Betty chimed in, always perceptive.

Reed had sent over a nourishing soup, which Betty had been simmering for two hours. Reed had told her to make sure the couple drank it but not to spill the beans about what it was.

Nathaniel, having had a bit to drink at dinner, was feeling a bit fuzzy-headed.

"Betty, what kind of soup is it?" he asked.

Betty, determined to complete Reed's task, lied with a straight face, "Just regular borscht."

Nathaniel raised an eyebrow slightly and said, "Sounds good, serve me a bowl."

Betty hurried downstairs to serve the soup. By the time she brought out two bowls, the couple was already seated in the dining room.

"Mr. Heilbronn, Mrs. Heilbronn, I'd like to take the night off. I have some matters to deal with and I'll be back tomorrow afternoon," Betty said.

Nathaniel, uninterested in household matters, silently drank his soup. Aurelia smiled and said, "If you have something to handle, go ahead. If you run into any problems, just let us know."

Betty thanked them profusely. She didn't actually have any issues; she just wanted to give the couple some alone time. After drinking the soup with the aphrodisiac, how could a passionate adult might restrain themselves?

"I'm just going home to look after the kids. I'll pack my things now. If you can't find anything, you can call me," Betty said as she took off her apron and quickly left the villa with her pre-packed bag.

With Betty gone, the entire villa was left with just the two of them.

Aurelia drank her soup, her mind wandering. Getting a gift today was a pleasant surprise.

She was thinking of a topic to start a conversation when Nathaniel had already finished his bowl of soup.

Seeing him put down his chopsticks, Aurelia asked, "Do you want more? I can get you another bowl."

"No, I'm good."

He put the bowl and chopsticks in the kitchen and went straight upstairs.

Watching his back, Aurelia suddenly felt the soup in her bowl lose its flavor. She silently cursed herself for being a coward. Why hadn't she said anything earlier? Now, he was gone.

She finished the remaining soup, then went to the kitchen to clean up. She was so lost in thought while washing the dishes that she didn't hear the footsteps behind her.

Nathaniel walked in holding a teacup.

"Do you know where the tea sets are?"

"Huh?"

Aurelia was startled by the sudden voice, causing her to pause and splash water on her face and chest. She quickly realized what he was asking.

"Maybe in the cabinet above."

She wiped her hands and went to open the cabinet.

The cabinet was a bit deep, and from her angle, she could only reach inside by standing on her tiptoes and blindly feeling around with one hand.

Nathaniel stared at her slender back in a daze. She was wearing a nightgown with a thin apron tied around her waist, which looked so delicate and slender.

He suddenly felt a bit hot and took a step forward to reach for the tea leaves in the cabinet.

Aurelia was focused on finding the tea leaves and didn't notice he was standing behind her until she felt a large, distinct hand inside the cabinet. Her heart skipped a beat, and she mustered the courage to hook her finger, only to have her entire hand grasped by his in the next second.

Aurelia's heart trembled. She turned around to find herself enveloped by his broad frame, even blocking half of the light from the overhead bulb.

He was so tall.

"Did you get it?"

Nathaniel looked at her intently, his eyes unreadable.

"Got it."

He said, but he didn't let go of her hand, still holding it.

Aurelia felt her hand wrapped in a warmth that wasn't her own, and a faint blush spread across her face.

Aurelia was a bit nervous. It was the first time she had been this close to him, even feeling his heartbeat. She was so nervous she could barely speak coherently.

"Do you still want tea?"

Nathaniel found her extremely attractive today. She perfectly matched his aesthetic preferences in every way. Especially her glistening, enchanting eyes, which seemed to hold a bewitching power that he couldn't look away from.

"No."

He answered, and the next second, he leaned down to kiss her.

Aurelia was taken aback, then closed her eyes moments later, experiencing his unpracticed yet assertive kiss, and awkwardly returned the gesture.

They kissed for a long time, both getting carried away.

They even forgot why they had come to the kitchen in the first place.

Nathaniel was breathing heavily. In his twenty-five years, he had never felt this way, with his entire body surging with an unquenchable fire.

"Aurelia, do you want to sleep with me?"

Aurelia, kissed until she was weak, leaned against the counter like a cooked shrimp, her skin flushed red. Hearing his question, she was naturally happy.

She believed that companionship was the longest confession of love. Living together, over time, they would inevitably develop feelings.

She lowered her head and agreed softly. With her consent, Nathaniel immediately lifted her up, kissing her as he carried her upstairs.

The showerhead turned on, and hot water cascaded down, washing over the clothes scattered on the floor.

Aurelia hadn't expected that the usually cold and aloof Nathaniel, who always seemed so restrained, would be so wild. She clung to the wall, feeling like she was about to fall apart.

That night, she even cried herself to sleep.

The next day, Aurelia was awakened by the midday sun, her whole body aching as if it were falling apart.

She rubbed her eyes, waking up to the sound of typing. Turning over, she unexpectedly locked eyes with Nathaniel.

He was wearing dark pajamas, leaning against the headboard with a laptop on his lap, seemingly working.

Aurelia moved slightly, realizing she was wrapped in his shirt, with nothing underneath. Her last memory of the previous night was crying and resisting, with him lying on top of her, gently coaxing her, saying it would be over soon and she could sleep.

After that, she had fallen asleep.

So, this shirt was obviously put on by him.

At this moment, she felt a bit awkward.

Aurelia quickly pulled the blanket up and turned her face away, not daring to meet his eyes.

Nathaniel closed his laptop and set it aside, then lay down next to her, wrapping an arm around her waist from behind. Experiencing intimacy for the first time, he realized he wasn't as indifferent to desire as he had thought. He had once been curious and watched a few adult films, but they hadn't made a significant impression on him.

After tasting a bit of sweetness, he found this to be quite addictive.

"Awake?"

Aurelia responded with a hoarse voice.

"Why aren't you at work?"

Nathaniel tightened his arm around her waist and lied, "There's nothing important this morning, so I didn't go. You were tired last night."

Aurelia immediately broke into a light sweat. Clearly, she was the one who was exhausted. If she hadn't resisted so much last night, who knows how long he would have kept going.

His hand started to move again, exploring the soft curve of her breast.

"Aurelia, let's have Betty move your things over later. From now on, sleep with me."

Aurelia removed his wandering hand, afraid he might start something again.

She turned her body towards him, snuggling into his embrace, and replied in a hoarse voice, "Okay."
