Chapter 119 The Downstairs Neighbor Called Again
She pushed Nathaniel away, and his rationality returned to his mind.
"Go back with me tomorrow," he emphasized once again.
At this moment, Aurelia was like a cat that had been petted, obedient, and docile.
"Okay," she replied softly and gently.
In the next moment, Nathaniel kissed her again.
"Nathaniel."
Nathaniel bit her lip as a punishment for her poor memory. He had emphasized many times that she should call him 'Honey,' but she still couldn't remember.
"Aurelia, call me honey!"
"You, get up. I didn't bring a condom." Aurelia came up with a perfect excuse. After all, there were few convenience stores near the villa, and it would be inconvenient to go out to buy one.
True to her words, Nathaniel immediately rolled over and lay back where he had just been sleeping, breathing heavily.
Aurelia achieved her goal, but she couldn't help feeling a wave of disappointment. He still didn't want a baby. Even though the desire was burning inside him, he would stop the sexual activity out of concern for her getting pregnant.
"Nathaniel, about Chelsea..."
As she mentioned Chelsea, Nathaniel's expression soured noticeably, and he suddenly sat up on the bed.
"I'm going to take a shower."
The sound of water in the bathroom started, and Aurelia stared at the post she had made on her Facebook account. She silently repeated in her mind, "Sweetie, once I completely get rid of that woman, we will be a happy family of four. No one will be able to take away the love from you."
She had already managed to get Chelsea expelled from the Heilbronn Group. Nathaniel's attitude towards her had changed; he was no longer as indulgent as before. She was determined to gradually expose all the things Chelsea had done that had crossed his line.
She had not missed anything of the overwhelming news these past few days about the chief designer of the Heilbronn Group plagiarizing Lolly's work. The intense discussions online had shown that the public's values were upright, and someone like Chelseashould not have a good ending.
Chelsea had been expelled from the Heilbronn Group and pressured by netizens to leave the design industry. She had brought this upon herself.
Having achieved the desired outcome, Aurelia immediately contacted the Swan company to stop pursuing the matter. She didn't want the Heilbronn Group to be implicated, even though this incident would inevitably affect the company.
"Aurelia, what are you thinking?" Nathaniel emerged from the bathroom wrapped in a towel, seeing Aurelia lost in thought while staring at her phone.
Aurelia's thoughts were brought back to the present. "Nothing, I was just thinking, you wouldn't really make me go back to work at the Heilbronn Group, would you?"
Nathaniel paused in drying his hair. "Seriously?"
After a moment, he added, "If you don't want to go, then don't. You can focus on your jewelry exhibition. I can support you. But attend the press conference and the celebration banquet in the evening, and show yourself."
Aurelia was a bit surprised by his accommodating tone and asked skeptically, "Are you really letting me decide?"
The next moment, his expression darkened. "Do you still want to go?"
Aurelia shook her head. "No, I don't."
Nathaniel hung the towel on a rack, then sat on the bed, half leaning against the headboard, one arm around her, twirling a strand of her hair between his fingers.
"Aurelia, Chelsea must be facing some difficulties. Based on what I know about her, she wouldn't do something to ruin her future. Being a jewelry designer has been her dream since childhood. Unfortunately, the Heilbronn Group can no longer accommodate her."
Aurelia listened with a hint of distraction. Even at this point, he still believed Chelsea had valid reasons for her actions. He might not know that Chelsea's distress stemmed from not being able to marry him and be the only woman by his side.
"What kind of difficulties do you think she's facing?" Aurelia broached the heavy topic, causing Nathaniel to look slightly troubled.
"Aurelia, Chelsea is in a difficult situation right now, and I can't do much to help. As for why she did what she did, I still need to figure that out."
Aurelia figured that he would still lend a hand to Chelsea, his dream lover. A perfectionist like him wouldn't allow his dream lover to be dragged through the mud.
To make him fully aware of Chelsea's misdeeds, she would need to trample on his dignity, making him see that Chelsea was truly a ruthless person with no boundaries.
The conversation paused there, and both of them fell into a momentary silence, lost in their thoughts.
The next morning, Nathaniel got up early to walk with his grandfather.
Aurelia continued sleeping, only to be awakened by a phone call.
"Hello, this is your neighbor downstairs. I'm really sorry to bother you again. Could you please sell the house or kick that woman upstairs out? It was one thing when she had men over in the middle of the night, but these past few days have been way too much. Weird people have been coming over, splashing paint and smashing trash, nearly breaking down the door. The air in the hallway is unbearable. Please talk to her and spare the rest of us in the building."
The neighbor downstairs in the Jade Community had called several times, and Aurelia was familiar with the slightly accented female voice. She hadn't expected the netizens' hatred towards Chelsea to escalate to this level, with people showing up to throw trash and disrupt the peace of the entire building.
Aurelia fell silent for a moment.
"I'm sorry, ma'am. I have no connection to that property anymore. Please contact (5x5) 123-xxx7 in the future. He is the owner of the property and the one who rented it out. I can't make decisions on his behalf."
"Alright."
This time, Aurelia directly gave out Nathaniel's phone number, leaving the neighbor downstairs feeling somewhat helpless.
From now on, any troubles caused by Chelsea would be reported directly to him. Whether it was men showing up at the door or paint being splashed around, she wanted him to truly understand what kind of person he had been involved with all these years.
Chelsea professed her love for Nathaniel strongly. Aurelia was curious ifwould still remain unconditionally trusting of Chelsea despite her actions behind his back, like harboring other men in his house.
Aurelia smiled bitterly. At some point, she had also become adept at scheming, something she had never stooped to before.
She believed that love between two people had nothing to do with such intrigue. Loving someone was just that, loving them. Just as when she first laid eyes on him, she knew in an instant that he was the love of her life.
Loving someone didn't need a reason, nor did it require manipulative tactics. Love was like sand slipping through your fingers; holding on tightly only made it slip away faster.
People are emotional beings.
A person like Nathaniel wouldn't let others manipulate his every emotion.
Aurelia changed to freshen up. When she came downstairs, Nathaniel and his grandfather had returned from their walk. Both of them wore grim expressions, indicating that something had happened.
As Aurelia descended the stairs slowly, she observed the living room where they sat.
Reed held a cane and had a stern expression.
The household staff moved about the living room, but no one dared to speak, creating an icy atmosphere.
When Reed saw Aurelia, his previously stern face finally softened.
"Aurelia, come here. I have something to discuss with you two."
Aurelia obediently walked over and glanced at Nathaniel, who remained silent with a stern expression.
"Grandpa, have some water first."
Aurelia poured a glass of warm water and handed it to Reed, trying to ease the tension.
Unexpectedly, Reed picked up the glass and threw it at Nathaniel's face. Nathaniel didn't dodge, taking the full brunt of the water.
His forehead was cut, and blood trickled down his face, but he didn't blink an eye, his determination unwavering.
