Chapter 341 It's Me Who's Reaching for Her

Beatrice thought about the check and felt a bit ashamed. Initially, when she heard Aurelia say that her children's annual tuition was more than that amount, she thought Aurelia was bragging.

It turned out to be true.

She actually tried to dismiss Aurelia with three million dollars, which was really embarrassing.

Nathaniel paused and then continued,

"When I divorced her, I was at fault and left with nothing. All the assets under my name were given to Aurelia. Listen carefully, I gave them to her, she didn't ask for them! Now, between her and me, I'm the one reaching up. Don't do anything absurd again; it's embarrassing for everyone."

Beatrice tightly gripped the check in her hand, crumpling it. "Is she the only one for you in this life?"

As soon as she finished speaking, Nathaniel almost seamlessly replied, "Yes, she's the only one."

Ashley, sitting nearby, said, "Bro, how could you leave with nothing? If all wealthy men in the world were like you, Aurelia would become the world's richest person after a few more marriages."

Ashley finished speaking and received a glare from Beatrice. Beatrice knew that her son was already suppressing his displeasure by sitting down and talking openly with her at this moment.

No one could change the decision he had made.

But the thought of her son becoming a stepfather and raising someone else's children was something she could never accept.

"Do you really want to raise Aurelia's children? Don't you mind that she had intimate relationships with other men?" Beatrice asked.

Nathaniel carefully considered his mother's question, imagining the scenario she described. Jealousy was real, and his desire to be with Aurelia was also real. As long as Aurelia was willing to be with him, he was willing to do anything.

"Mom, have you ever thought that the children might be mine?" he asked.

Nathaniel's words left Beatrice completely shocked. She now tried to recall what the two children looked like but couldn't remember. She hadn't seen them clearly under the streetlights; she was there to confront Aurelia and hadn't thought in that direction.

But how could it be? That car accident didn't cause her to miscarry? Beatrice was stunned for a long time, unable to think clearly. She still found it hard to believe. "Are those two children really yours? Have you done a paternity test?"

Nathaniel was extremely disgusted by Beatrice's question. He had never doubted Aurelia, nor would he doubt his own children. He was ecstatic to have these two treasures.

His own mother, as the children's grandmother, wasn't happy to know the children were safe in this world. Instead, her first reaction was to doubt if they were his.

"Mom, if you don't want the two children to hate you, don't show up in front of Aurelia again. She doesn't hold it against you because you're an elder, but she's also a mother. If you scare the children again, she won't let it go. And I certainly won't allow you or anyone else to harm my wife and children," Nathaniel warned.

Hearing Nathaniel say that, Beatrice tried hard convince herself that the two children were indeed her grandchildren. She immediately changed her expression and smiled. "What are you talking about? Of course, I care about my own grandchildren. How could I do anything to harm them?"

Nathaniel chuckled softly. "I hope you truly believe that. Your actions today have already scared the children."

Beatrice took a deep breath, intimidated by her son's aura. "Got it. Today's incident won't happen again."

Only after hearing Beatrice's assurance did Nathaniel start the car and drive home. On the other side, Ashley was too shocked by what she had heard to speak.

The next day, Aurelia was preparing to go to the office. Just as she was about to leave, Joe called, "Aurelia, I've almost finished handling things here. I'm planning to head back this afternoon. Do Dorothy and Jacob want to come with me?"

Aurelia glanced at the two kids playing happily in the living room. "Hold on, bro. Let me ask them."

Aurelia wanted the two kids to go back with their uncle. After what happened yesterday, she felt it wasn't safe to stay here. She always took matters concerning the children very seriously and didn't dare to gamble on human nature, even though Nathaniel had repeatedly assured her.

After asking, the two kids shook their heads frequently, especially Dorothy, who was unwilling to go back at all. "Mommy, I want to stay with you. I want to see you every day."

Aurelia respected the children's wishes. "Bro, they want to leave with me in a few days."

"Alright then. Call me if anything comes up. I'll be heading back this afternoon. Cathy misses you," Joe replied.

"Okay, don't worry." After hanging up, Aurelia still felt uneasy looking at the children. She stood in the hallway for a long time before dialing Ulysses. "Ulysses, do you know anyone reliable who can install cameras?"

On the other end of the line, Ulysses was sketching clothing designs. Oscar had suddenly decided to design some unique uniforms for their hotel staff. The current ones were mass-produced in a factory, and he despised the design.

Ulysses put down his pencil and stood up. "Aurelia, did something happen? Where do you want to install cameras?"

"Nothing much. I'm planning to go to the office, but I'm a bit uneasy with the kids and the nanny at home. I want to install a camera outside the front door so we can see who's at the door."

Ulysses thought for a moment and agreed. "I'll bring someone over to help you install it in a bit."

Aurelia changed back into her slippers. She couldn't feel at ease going to the office until the camera was installed.

After about an hour, Ulysses arrived in his car, with Oscar, who had dark circles under his eyes and was half-asleep, in the passenger seat.

Oscar had stayed up late last night and was still sleeping when Ulysses woke him up to find the contact for the camera installer. He had recently had cameras installed in his store, and Ulysses knew the workers were reliable.

When Oscar heard it was for installing cameras at Aurelia's place, he insisted on coming along.

The camera installer was also in the car, and they unloaded a lot of tools after parking.

Aurelia explained her needs, and the worker assured her it was no problem and started working.

While the installation was underway, Dorothy ran out from the house. "Mommy, can we get a kitten? Princess Elsa has one, and it's so cute."

Oscar's eyes were immediately glued to Dorothy. He had heard about the two kids from Ulysses but had never seen them. Ulysses had made it clear that the children's background was not to be discussed, especially with the Heilbronn family.

He had kept this secret for a long time, and every time he saw Nathaniel, he couldn't help but want to tell him, "You have a son and a daughter."
