Chapter 96 Mrs. Heilbronn Should Have Acted Earlier
With this decision in mind, Aurelia felt relaxed.
She spent the whole day outside without feeling tired.
Before returning home in the evening, she ordered a meal and red wine from Oscar's restaurant. Passing by a street-side shop, she went in and bought scented candles.
Her biggest regret of the day was not being able to drink, only being able to watch him drink.
Upon arriving home, Aurelia first decorated the bedroom and living room, setting the atmosphere.
Betty didn't know what Aurelia was up to, seeing her meticulously decorating the house. But Betty also started bustling around. She guessed that the couple's relationship was heating up again, and she couldn't wait to sneak back to her bedroom to report to Reed.
"Mrs. Heilbronn, what's the occasion today?"
Aurelia paused. "Betty, what if we had two more little ones in the house?"
Betty's face lit up with a smile. “That would be lively. You have been married for three years. It's time to consider having a baby. The Bloom Villa is too lonely; usually, only I, an old woman, am here alone. While you're young, you should put in more effort and have a few more children.”
Aurelia arranged the candles, and the restaurant called to ask when to deliver the meal.
She told the person on the phone to wait a while. She needed to make sure when Nathaniel would be home.
Yesterday, Nathaniel said he would be back today. Therefore, she stubbornly believed he would come back today, making up for the missed candlelit dinner.
With the house all set up, Nathaniel called.
After a few seconds of calm, Aurelia pressed the answer button.
"Aurelia." Nathaniel's voice sounded slightly weary on the phone. The single word made Aurelia's heart tighten. A woman's sixth sense told her he wouldn't be coming back.
"Is Chelsea okay?" Aurelia inquired.
There was silence on the other end of the line for a few seconds.
"Aurelia, could you help me bring a set of clean clothes over?" Nathaniel said.
Aurelia heard the answer in her heart, and a sinking feeling enveloped her.
"Okay."
After hanging up, she called the restaurant to have the meal delivered. She calmly went upstairs to pack Nathaniel's clothes, from underwear and socks to shirts and trousers, neatly arranging three sets.
She felt he might be pestered by Chelsea for a while, making him unable to return for the time being.
After packing these things, Betty called from downstairs, "Mrs. Heilbronn, the meal is here. Do you need to call Mr. Heilbronn to ask when he'll be home?"
Aurelia carefully carried the suitcase downstairs. The suitcase wasn't heavy, but given her pregnancy, she dared not exert too much force. This caution slowed her progress, causing her to descend the steps more slowly than usual.
Seeing this, Betty hurriedly ran up and took the suitcase from her hands.
"Mrs. Heilbronn, what are you doing?"
Betty thought she was about to leave home again, as she had seen Aurelia's expression change after the phone call.
Aurelia took a deep breath. "Betty, let's have this meal together. There's no need to wait for him."
Betty looked at the exquisite meal on the table, then at Aurelia with a puzzled expression, thinking that Aurelia had rarely set such a romantic atmosphere. With Nathaniel not coming home, she definitely would feel upset. The good mood was ruined, and the candlelit dinner would be wasted. If it were another woman, there would have been an argument.
"Mrs. Heilbronn, should I call and ask?"
Aurelia was unusually calm now. "Betty, don't call."
Betty carried the suitcase downstairs with a heavy heart, worried that Aurelia might leave home again. The last time she saw her carrying a suitcase downstairs was during Aurelia and Nathaniel’s biggest fight. They even signed divorce papers at that time.
"Mrs. Heilbronn, you're not leaving again, are you?"
Aurelia touched the ring on her ring finger, firmly telling her, "No. This is Nathaniel's suitcase. I'll take it to him in a while."
Whether it was the ring that gave her confidence or not, she believed that no matter what Chelsea did, Chelsea couldn't keep Nathaniel's heart. She was convinced that his heart belonged at home.
As for the entanglement between him and Chelsea, she had no interest in knowing.
In the past, Aurelia felt desolate as she thought she had no place in his heart.
As long as he loved her, she wouldn't let go.
Betty breathed a sigh of relief at her words.
The scented candle was lit, and the flame flickered on the table.
"Betty, sit down and eat," Aurelia said.
Having lived together for so long, Aurelia had never treated Betty as a servant. However, Betty always maintained her boundaries and never crossed the line due to the master's kindness.
"Mrs. Heilbronn, I can't really get used to this kind of meal. I'd rather sit and chat with you."
Betty vaguely felt that Aurelia was different from before, carrying many things in her heart and letting go of many things.
"Betty, let's chat while we eat. It's boring eating alone," Aurelia said.
After a few refusals, Betty finally took a fork and sat down.
Betty said, "Mrs. Heilbronn, Mr. Heilbronn actually loves you with his heart."
Aurelia smirked. "Maybe."
"When you left last time, he was really upset. He didn't eat much for several days, couldn't sleep, and came downstairs looking for sleeping pills. He may not say it, but he really loves you."
Betty recounted Nathaniel's insomnia and some other things, hoping that this couple could be well.
Aurelia didn't know about Nathaniel's insomnia; she only remembered how quickly he fell asleep when he held her; even while she was still talking to him, he would get into dreamland easily.
"Betty, you've been working at the Heilbronn family for many years, right?" Aurelia asked.
"Over ten years, I started working at the Heilbronn Villa when my child was in high school. At that time, Mr. Heilbronn was still in school. He's always been tight-lipped since he was young, doesn't like to express himself, and loves to speak in opposites. If he says something unpleasant, never believe it; it's definitely the opposite," Betty replied.
Talking about Nathaniel, Betty couldn't stop.
Aurelia recalled that she had never heard anything pleasant from Nathaniel.
When she bought new clothes, he said they weren't nice, too tight at the waist, and the fabric was too thin.
When she put on makeup, he said it wasn't good, too tacky, too glamorous.
When she brought back jewelry from outside, he said it was cheap.
The only thing he praised was that piece of lingerie.
If Betty's statements were true, and he always spoke in opposites, then he was truly a proud person.
Aurelia ate her meal quickly, and after dinner, she went to the main bedroom's dressing room to pick out the latest seasonal dress Nathaniel had sent over. Then, she chose a Chanel runway bag from the wall where she kept her bags, did delicate full makeup, and came downstairs looking radiant.
As she pulled the suitcase out, she saw Zack parked the car outside the villa, waiting.
Zack was momentarily stunned when he saw Aurelia. Although he knew she was beautiful, he was struck by the realization that, in his eyes, her beauty was unparalleled.
Aurelia's white chiffon dress floated gracefully. Every move she made was as beautiful as Venus in mythology.
She looked even better than the popular celebrity endorsing the Heilbronn Group's jewelry.
He took the suitcase from Aurelia's hands. "Mrs. Heilbronn, are you going over?"
Aurelia was momentarily taken aback, but she understood Zack's meaning. Once she handed Zack the suitcase, her task was considered complete.
After a moment, she replied, "I'm going."
Zack placed the suitcase in the car and opened the passenger door.
He thought to himself, 'Mrs. Heilbronn should have acted earlier. If it were him, he would have torn that bitch Chelsea to pieces.
