Chapter 79 Don't You Mind Samuel?

Nathaniel raised his lips as if he had no hope for her at all.

"Don't worry. If your grades are bad, you can just rest at home like before."

Aurelia thought, 'I'm not nervous at all. I don't want to stay in your company at all.'

"I have to go on a business trip tomorrow to Coral Bay, and I'll be back in about a week."

He was explaining his itinerary again.

Aurelia responded, feeling a bit uncomfortable with his current demeanor. She recalled his last business trip abroad, during which he seemed to have disappeared from the world for a week without even saying goodbye to her.
She made countless phone calls, almost resorting to calling the police. Finally, she found out from Zack that he had gone to Melicia. Because of this, Aurelia decided never to ask him about his business trips again.

Now, he was voluntarily explaining everything clearly, which made her feel a bit surreal as if she were dreaming.

Nathaniel snapped his fingers in front of her.

"Is that your reaction?"

"What's wrong?"

Nathaniel finished a bowl of minestrone soup in a few sips. "I'm going on a business trip for a week. Can you help me pack my luggage?"

"Sure."

When Aurelia heard that he was going on a business trip, she was actually happy inside. After all, she had been lying about being on her period for several days, and the lie was about to be exposed. With him gone for a while, it would give her time to think about how to bring up the topic of pregnancy with him.

She needed to come up with a foolproof plan in case he didn't want these two babies. What would she do then?

Thinking about this gave her a headache.

Nathaniel paused for a moment when he saw her looking somewhat happy. "Are you this happy that I'm going on a business trip?"

"No, I'm not happy."

Aurelia had a habit of blushing when she lied, and she couldn't even look directly into Nathaniel's eyes out of guilt.

Nathaniel was tempted to scold her, but considering her period, he let it go.

"You should start packing your things."

Aurelia got up and walked towards the stairs, with Nathaniel following behind.

She pulled out a suitcase and laid it on the floor, neatly folding and packing the clothes from the closet. Nathaniel leaned lazily against the doorway, watching her pack.

"I'll be going to Coral Bay this time, and I'll also look into Samuel's information for you."

Aurelia paused, holding a piece of clothing in her hand. She looked up at him in disbelief.

"Don't you mind Samuel?"

Nathaniel smirked disdainfully. "Someone I've only heard the name of is not enough to threaten me. Even if he were standing in front of me, I wouldn't believe you'd leave me for him."

His confidence was innate as if he were a king that others looked up to.

He was genuinely curious about the man who often appeared in his wife's dreams, even more so than she was. He wanted to uncover who that person really was.

Aurelia fell silent. "Thank you."

"Between husband and wife, there's no need for such words of thanks. You know what kind of gratitude I desire."

Aurelia blushed slightly, knowing he was about to say something flirtatious.

"Do you want to take that gray suit?"

She quickly changed the subject.

"Whatever."

Nathaniel smirked, his smile looking anything but serious.

The next day, Nathaniel left early in the morning for his flight.

After he left, Aurelia felt like even the air was free.
Using the company system, she took a day off from work, as it was her prenatal check-up day. She got ready quickly, had breakfast, and drove to the hospital where Amber worked.

Aurelia lay on the examination bed, listening to her baby's strong heartbeat and feeling excited. She couldn't wait to find out if the twins were boys or girls and if they would resemble their father or mother. She was looking forward to the day she would meet them.

"Aurelia, your baby is healthy."

Amber put away the instruments and looked over her test results one by one.

"You're a bit anemic, so I'll prescribe some iron supplements for you. Make sure to eat more beef, liver, vegetables, and fruits. Overall, everything looks good. Your weight is well-controlled; you're a compliant, expectant mother."

As an obstetrician, she had seen many pregnant women who overate, gaining twenty pounds in less than three months, leading to a host of problems later on. Except for a slight anemia, Aurelia's other indicators were all normal, which was exactly what she wanted to hear.

Aurelia sat across from her, listening carefully to her advice.

"Amber, do I need to do any prenatal education?"

Amber raised an eyebrow, putting down her pen.

"The best prenatal education is the father's companionship and care."

With a sigh of helplessness, she continued, "Regarding the divorce lawsuit you mentioned last time, I asked Lloyd Cooper. He's available this Friday if you want to meet with him. Let me know if the timing works for you, and I can help you schedule the appointment."

Lloyd was Amber's boyfriend, a lawyer specializing in divorce cases at Imperick, and Aurelia wouldn't have been able to make an appointment with him without Amber's help.

Aurelia hesitated. "Amber, I think I need more time to consider."

Amber smiled. "I won't persuade you. You need to figure out what you want on your own when it comes to marriage. Whatever decision you make, I'll support you. If you need anything, feel free to call me, and I'll help you schedule a meeting with Lloyd."

Aurelia was touched. She didn't have many friends at Imperick, and Amber was one of the closest. It was rare that Amber didn't urge her to leave Nathaniel or continue with him, but simply wished for her well-being.

"Amber, thank you."

Amber laughed. "Don't be so formal with me. We don't need those polite words between us."

Aurelia wasn't being polite; she genuinely thanked Amber from the bottom of her heart. In her darkest moments, having someone reach out to help her warmed her lonely world a bit.

After Helen and Penelope passed away, she became more withdrawn and rarely opened up to others. There weren't many people in this city who had shown her kindness, but she remembered them all.

Leaving the hospital, Aurelia received a call from Timothy.

"Aurelia, I've found some information recently. Before your mother had her accident, she had her car repaired at an auto repair shop."

Aurelia felt a chill run down her spine. As she suspected, Helen's car accident wasn't an accident at all but a deliberate murder.

As for whether the person who wanted her mother dead included Norman, she couldn't be sure. After all, Norman was a ruthless man who could abandon his own daughter and even his own mother. A former wife he didn't love would only be an obstacle to him bringing his lover and her daughter into his life.

Helen's car must have been tampered with at the repair shop, causing the brakes to fail to work afterward.

"Have you found that mechanic?"

"I found out that he left Imperick and went back to his hometown for three years, probably thinking that no one was looking for him, and then returned to Imperick. He now runs a repair shop in the suburbs and is the owner."

Aurelia couldn't believe that an uneducated and background-less mechanic could become a shop owner in Imperick. With the high cost of living in Imperick, his meager salary wouldn't even cover the rent for an auto repair shop unless someone was backing him or providing him with the capital to start the business.

"Send me the address of his shop."

"Aurelia, I'll go with you. Maybe we can find some other clues."

Timothy was an employee at a private detective agency, sharp-witted and resourceful. Aurelia had entrusted him with investigating Helen's car accident, and they had been working together for several years.

Since the incident was so long ago, it was difficult to find records or surveillance footage from the police. Timothy was the only one in the detective agency willing to take on the case, and Aurelia trusted him completely.

After hanging up, Aurelia received Timothy's address on Facebook. She looked around and spotted the black Volkswagen in an inconspicuous location, which gave her some peace of mind.

She called Felix and asked him to follow closely, then started the car and drove to the address Timothy had provided.
