Chapter 157 Just Leave If You Want

After Nathaniel left, the ward turned into a family meeting room to them.

Chelsea watched Norman pacing back and forth, feeling a headache coming on.

"Dad, please come up with a plan. Your pacing is making me dizzy."

Norman kept moving, his mind racing. Once Nathaniel got serious, things would be tricky. How could they hide this secret from Nathaniel?

Maria tried to comfort Chelsea, "Chelsea, don't worry. Our main goal now is to get the marriage certificate. Even if Nathaniel finds out, for the sake of his son, he won't go too far. Once the child is born, your relationship will be unbreakable."

Maria's words struck a chord with Norman. He clapped his hands together. "Yes. Let's pressure him into getting married in the next few days, and that will settle it!"

Chelsea said, "Dad, Mom, what are you thinking? He's not even divorced yet. I can't marry him within a week. Even if he agrees to a divorce, the procedure will still take a month. It's too late."

Norman stopped pacing, hands clasped behind his back. "Let's get him to agree to register first. The procedure is nonsense. A wealthy man like Nathaniel can get married anytime he wants."

Chelsea felt a bit relieved. How did she not think of this before? The so-called rules were for folks; someone like Nathaniel, a prominent businessman, could bend the rule as he pleased.

"Dad, Aurelia is still his legal wife!" Chelsea added.

"Never mind that. I'll take care of it," Norman replied.

As they discussed, there was a knock on the door. Following Nathaniel's instructions, Betty brought a caretaker with her.

Norman opened the door and understood immediately that Nathaniel's people had arrived.

Betty carried a thermos with lunch inside. "Ms. Thompson, I'm the cook from the Heilbronn family. I'll be in charge of your meals from now on. For your health, you can't eat outside food anymore. Just tell me your prefference."

After addressing Chelsea, Betty glanced at the other two in the room and continued, "Mr. Heilbronn instructed that visitors should be limited in number. If you two have nothing to do, please leave. I'll take care of Ms. Thompson."

Norman straightened his neck. Betty was just a servant, yet she dared to ask them to leave. He chuckled. "Take care of my daughter. She's carrying the future heir of the Heilbronn Group. If anything happens to her, you won't be able to afford it with your life."

Betty froze. 'Nathaniel had only asked me to take care of Chelsea for a few days; he hadn't mentioned the pregnancy. It was truly shocking news. No wonder Aurelia had left with her luggage.  Nathaniel had a child with another woman. It's outrageous!'

Reed had asked her to keep an eye on this couple and report any developments. Reed was still in the hospital, so she didn't dare to mention this situation, as it would surely infuriate him.

After Norman's show of authority, he left the hospital with Maria.

In another room, Aurelia took advantage of Reed's nap time to buy some daily necessities. When she returned from the supermarket, she ran into Norman and Maria, who were angry.

All three of them were taken aback.

Aurelia quickly pretended not to know them and entered the building from the side. Maria blocked her path from behind, glaring fiercely. "What are you doing here? Chelsea doesn't want to see you!"

Maria thought Aurelia had come to the hospital to cause trouble for Chelsea. Why else would she be here?

Maria wouldn't stand for it!"If you dare come again, I'll tell Nathaniel you're trying to harm his son," she warned.

Aurelia, seeing Maria's nervous reaction, realized Chelsea was unwell and staying in the hospital. She snapped, "Maria, you and Chelsea are both habitual cheaters. Why are you so scared?"

Maria was instantly enraged by the word "cheaters."

"You little wretch, how dare you call me a cheater!"

Aurelia stepped back, keeping a safe distance. "Both you and your daughter are cheaters. Everyone knows that , including you"

Maria was hopping mad. "Let me tell you, your father and I were in a consensual relationship. He lied to me that he was single, and I only found out about you and your mother when I got pregnant with Chelsea. I'm not a cheater! Blame your useless mother for not being able to keep a man."

Aurelia remembered when Timothy was investigating her mother's car accident, she accidentally discovered some significant transactions in Norman's private account, buying gifts for an intern at the company. Maria probably had no idea about this.

"Norman bought three luxury handbags and a diamond necklace for you last month, right? You're quite skilled at keeping a man devoted to you at this age," Aurelia said.

Maria turned her gaze towards Norman, her eyes filled with anger.

Last month was their wedding anniversary, and she only received a bouquet delivered by courier without a card. That day, Norman said he had business at the company and didn't come home all night. There were no luxury bags or diamond necklaces; she didn't even receive a plastic bag.

Norman felt his dignity was at stake and immediately became anxious, questioning Aurelia, "Are you stalking me?"

He pulled the angry Maria and pushed her towards the door. He wasn't sure what leverage Aurelia had on him, and he didn't want things to escalate.

"Enough, stop talking. You go back first, and I'll talk to Aurelia for a while," Norman said.

Maria was still angry, tugging at Norman's clothes and shouting, "Don't change the subject. Explain this to me, or I won't let you go."

The entrance was narrow, and the two of them took up half the space with their struggles. Others coming in and out had to pass by leaning against the wall.

"Stop it!" Norman shouted. Maria was momentarily stunned, quieted down, and looked at him with red eyes.

Norman spoke, "Last month, the company was facing a crisis and almost went bankrupt. Of course, I had to give gifts to clients to maintain good relationships. You know how hard it is for me to run a company. I'm out there every day, sacrificing my pride to attract investments. Then I come home to face you, an ignorant lunatic. If you don't want to live with me, just leave!"

Maria was shocked. In her middle age, she had achieved nothing. Attaching herself to Norman, a small business owner, was the most successful thing Maria had done in her life. Now, hearing Norman speak like this, she feared that he really didn't want her anymore.

She was so scared that she fell silent. Despite the argument, she still had some rationality left.

She wiped away her tears and softened her tone. "I'll go home first. You come back early for dinner; don't stay outside for too long."

Can't win me back
