Chapter 415 Not Really
The two walked out of the office, greeted by dozens of eyes staring at them.
Aurelia felt it necessary to tell Aurora not to speak carelessly. She had to maintain her image as a cold and aloof career woman; it couldn't be ruined by this one incident.
They went downstairs and got into the car.
Since Nathaniel didn't bring Zack, he naturally took on the role of the driver. Aurelia sat in the passenger seat, holding her phone and texting Aurora.
Aurelia: [Don't talk about what happened today, or your salary will be docked!]
Aurelia's assistant wasn't very cunning and usually joked around with her. Aurelia completely treated her like a sister.
Sending such a warning message, Aurelia expected Aurora to reply with some crying emojis, swearing not to speak carelessly.
What she didn't expect was that Aurora was currently chatting happily in a private company group chat, completely ignoring her warning message.
Aurora: [Do you guys know what I just saw? Oh my god, I'm not pure anymore.]
Everyone knew she was close to the boss and often went in and out of the boss's office. They were already curious about what happened.
As soon as Aurora sent this message, the gossipers immediately perked up. The group, which had been dead silent for days, suddenly became lively.
[What did you see? Don't treat us like outsiders, spill the beans.]
Aurora didn't say anything, just kept them in suspense, piquing everyone's curiosity.
Aurora: [Well, I feel embarrassed to say it. Maybe I need a sweet, silky milk tea to calm down before I can share this shocking experience.]
As soon as she sent the message, someone immediately posted a screenshot of a milk tea delivery order.[Milk tea is on the way, please share!]
Aurora: [I saw Mr. Heilbronn... Well, never mind, I have to get back to work.]
Aurora deliberately kept them in suspense, and the group was filled with people frustrated by her pause. Was she going to say it or not? Speaking halfway was infuriating!
A bunch of people sent threatening emojis.
[Once upon a time, someone spoke halfway in the group. Guess what happened to them?]
[They got assassinated. Aurora, spill it, or you won't be going home after work today. We'll kidnap you to go on a blind date for us.]
Then came a bunch of pressing questions. These people had finished their work for the day and were just waiting to hear the gossip. Some even supported Caleb and were waiting for a result.
Under immense pressure, Aurora had to give in.
Aurora: [I think I saw Anna sitting on Mr. Heilbronn's lap, and Mr. Heilbronn's hand was around Anna's waist. That pose was so suggestive, oh my god! You guys better not spread this, or I'm dead if Anna finds out.]
[I totally ship them, they should get married already.]
[Is it possible that Karma Jewelry is going to merge with the Heilbronn Group? How much could we sell this gossip to the media for? Ladies, I smell a business opportunity.]
The group chat exploded, messages flying by like the comments in a live stream of an influencer with millions of followers, so fast that it was hard to see what the previous person had said before the next message popped up.
Aurora stared at her phone screen, stunned. She hadn't expected the situation to get so out of control. If she had known everyone would react so strongly, she wouldn't have said anything even if it killed her!
If Anna found out, the consequences would be severe.
Aurora nervously exited the chat and found an unread message. After reading it, she was dumbfounded.
She reopened the group chat, scrolled up to find her message, and tried to retract it, but it was too late.
She muttered to herself, "I'm doomed, I'm so doomed!"
On the other side, Aurelia didn't get a reply from Aurora. Nathaniel started talking to her, and she temporarily forgot about it.
Nathaniel asked, "Did Jacob receive the robots?"
Aurelia nodded. "He did. It took a while to unpack, but the eyes were still a bit damaged. You should ask Jacob about it later; the little guy has been upset for two days."
Nathaniel's eyelid twitched. He had personally overseen the packaging, specifically instructing them to handle it with care, wrapping it in multiple layers of bubble wrap, and marking it as fragile on the outside.
He knew how much those two robots meant to Jacob, possibly as much as he meant to his own father.
"Which robot was damaged?"
"The one your company developed."
Nathaniel sighed in relief. If it was the one his company developed, it would be easier to solve. He could just get another test model from the tech department. If it was the one Jacob had assembled himself, he wouldn't have been able to do anything.
After all, that one was one of a kind.
The car soon arrived at The Semona Family estate. Aurelia unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car.
"Wait here for a bit; I'll go get Dorothy and Jacob."
At that moment, the two kids were watching cartoons in the living room. Aurelia had told them in the morning that they would have dinner with Reed in the evening, and the two little ones had been waiting for their mommy to pick them up.
Jacob was the first to see Aurelia. "Mommy's back!"
The two kids dropped the remote and ran over, backpacks on their backs."We're heading out to see your great-grandpa now." Aurelia looked around and whispered, "Daddy's car is at the door. Let's hurry out, okay?"
Dorothy had been missing her dad. After the last goodbye with Imperick, she had returned to their home in Coral Bay. Sensitive as she was, she even suspected that her dad might disappear from their lives for a few more years.
If that were the case, she would be very sad.
Jacob, of course, missed his dad too, but as a boy, he wasn't as sensitive and didn't think as much as Dorothy did.
When Aurelia walked out of the villa holding each child's hand, Nathaniel was already out of the car, waiting at the door. If it weren't for the fact that it would be too abrupt, he would have rushed in to hug his kids.
He hadn't seen them for a few days, and it wasn't just Aurelia he missed; he had a little corner in his heart reserved for the kids too.
When the three of them came out, Nathaniel finally had the chance to hug his children.
He first picked up Dorothy and reached out to pull Jacob with his other hand.
Jacob didn't like this mushy way of meeting and took a step back, but he still couldn't escape it.
Nathaniel held a child in each arm, his heart full. "Did you miss Daddy?"
Dorothy played with her dad's rough chin and answered in a soft voice, "Yes!"
Jacob replied coolly, "Not really."
Nathaniel was amused by his son's "not really."
He analyzed it. "Not really" meant he did miss him, just not as intensely as his sister did.
Jacob's cool and distant demeanor was exactly like his own when he was young, even down to the way he spoke.
