Chapter 148 It Was Cool Let Him Raise Someone Else's Child

Aurelia followed the agent back to sign the contract, feeling somewhat relieved as she held the elevator card in her hand.

She had truly taken the first step, leaving Nathaniel forever.

They could never go back.

Timothy's call came through; Aurelia hadn't heard from him in a while, so she eagerly answered, "Timothy, what do you have?"

Timothy cleared his throat. "Aurelia, the mysterious person investigating your mother's accident is named Joe, a businessman in the southern real estate industry."

Aurelia was taken aback. 'Joe? This name sounds familiar.' She quickly recalled him as the man who had a confrontation with Nathaniel on the yacht that day.

'Why would he be investigating my mother's accident?'

"Timothy, can you find out any connection between my mother and Joe?" Aurelia inquired.

Timothy hesitated. "Aurelia, please don't ask me to investigate him anymore. He's a tough character. If he finds out I'm looking into him, I might end up in the sea, feeding the fish."

Between making money and risking his life, Timothy chose the latter. He valued his life and didn't dare provoke Joe.

Disappointed, Aurelia said, "Well, I'll think about it."

'There must be some connection between Joe and her mother; otherwise, he wouldn't have come all the way from the south to investigate this cold case. It didn't make sense if there was no connection at all,' Aurelia thought.

Timothy advised, "Aurelia, I found out that he came to Imperick specifically for this matter and has been here for some time. I advise you not to act rashly. We really can't afford to provoke this man; his crueltyare no less than Nathaniel's."

Timothy was extremely fearful of Joe, and Aurelia didn't press him further. She just asked him to continue investigating her mother's car accident and told him not to worry about anything else for now.

Returning to Ulysses' residence, Aurelia noticed Amber's car parked downstairs.

She smelled the aroma of barbecue as she entered, her stomach growling after a day of running around.

It had been a long time since the three of them had gathered.

Amber held Aurelia's hand and looked at her closely. "Your belly has grown a bit. Nathaniel hasn't noticed anything, has he?"

Someone observant might have already noticed her pregnancy; Nathaniel was too careless.

Aurelia smiled. "Let's not mention him on this happy day."

Ulysses had prepared the barbecue ingredients, with fresh vegetables washed and arranged on plates.

"Stop chatting and come help," he called out.

Sitting in a circle, Ulysses opened a bottle of wine, poured two glasses, and poured a glass of water for Aurelia. "Let's consider today a celebration for Aurelia. She has escaped that disaster, and the days ahead will surely be smooth!"

Hearing Ulysses called Nathaniel a disaster, the three of them shared a smile and clinked glasses.

During the meal, Aurelia informed them about her plan to move out, "I am moving tomorrow. You both are welcome to visit my new place."

Ulysses was taken aback. "Where are you moving to? You're not going back to that dangerous place, are you?"

If she had lost her mind and wanted to return, he would have been the first to oppose her this time.

Aurelia laughed. "I've rented a place in the east of the city. I might be busy with work in the coming days, focusing on my career."

Ulysses sighed. "I told you. Get rid of the idea of being a homemaker. With your skills, you don't need a man. Let all the bad men go to hell. But if you want to focus on your career, go ahead; you don't have to move out from here!"

Amber chimed in, "Or you could come to my place. It would save you the trouble of coming back and forth for check-ups. I can take care of everything for you."

Aurelia was grateful for her two friends' genuine care.

"I won't disturb your lives anymore. After all, I have to go on my own in the future, so I'll start getting used to it early. Besides, I can't always depend on you both. I have to face things on my own. Don't worry, everything will be fine. I've come to terms with it."

The siblings felt relieved hearing her speak so positively. They were pleased with her optimistic outlook.

Aurelia shared her plans for the future, "Once I get the divorce papers, I'll leave Imperick and move to a beautiful city to focus on my designing and raise the children."

Amber paused. "Will the three of us still be able to get together in the future?"

Ulysses, however, had a different attitude. "I support you. The farther, the better. If you stay here, Nathaniel won't make life easy for you and your children. He might even come to take the children away in the future. It's best to hide where he can't find you."

Upon hearing Ulysses' words, Amber changed her tone. "Yes, don't let that bastard see the children. Let him raise someone else's illegitimate child."

The meal lasted for two hours.

The next day, Aurelia moved to the apartment in the east of the city. Ulysses made time to accompany her, ensuring there were no safety hazards in the new place before leaving.

Aurelia ordered some essential household items online, being cautious not to buy too much. She would be leaving Imperick in a month and didn't want to waste anything.

The deliveries arrived directly at her door, and she spent the day unpacking.

In the following days, she immersed herself in her designing. She couldn't afford to be lazy anymore; she needed to earn enough money to ensure a good life for herself and her two children.

Raising children now was different from before; it wasn't just about feeding them. She needed to keep up with all aspects of their needs. The babies in her belly no longer had father, and she couldn't let her children suffer in life with her.

Busy and preoccupied these days, Aurelia only realized before going to bed that the unopened bottle of prenatal multivitamins was left in the Bloom Villa, hidden in a relatively discreet spot. She felt a faint worry.

If Nathaniel found it, it would be a disaster.

With these thoughts in mind, her heart was restless, and she felt Nathaniel's call would come any second.

At that moment, Nathaniel was sleeping in the lounge behind his office. He had been away from home for five days.

Nathaniel still hadn't figured out how to confront Aurelia. He wanted to keep her in the company to help him, but he didn't know how to broach the subject.

After all, she was not happy in the design department of the Heilbronn Group before.

Moreover, she had clearly stated that she would resign after the press conference, and he had already approved her resignation.

He couldn't think of a good solution, no matter how hard he tried.

Ashley called, her voice trembling, "Nathaniel, Chelsea's heart condition has acted up. She's in the emergency room now, please come quickly!"

Previously, Chelsea had called several times, saying she wasn't feeling well and asking him to come over. Nathaniel thought she was causing trouble again, lying too many times that he didn't believed her anymore.

But hearing Ashley's tone, he realized it was serious. He quickly grabbed his suit and rushed out.

Before he reached the hospital, the butler Ted called, "Mr. Heilbronn, please come quickly. There's been an accident here. Mr. Reed Heilbronn is not doing well."
