Chapter 335 A Little Troublemaker
Jacoba was still afraid of Aurelia. When he heard her calling his name angrily from downstairs, he couldn't help but feel a bit nervous. However, he was still dissatisfied with his mom's actions and pouted as he went downstairs.
At this moment, Nathaniel had already given up struggling, being controlled by the robot. He couldn't figure out what exactly was holding him down. It was more effective than having a sheepdog, and having one at home was better than hiring a security guard.
Aurelia was a bit anxious. It was the first time she had formally invited him in, and for such a thing to happen was distressing. She was more worried about the future relationship between father and son.
Although Nathaniel wanted to be a dad who spoiled his children, he wasn't someone without principles. Jacob's rude behavior would surely earn him a scolding in the future.
The key issue was that Aurelia was anxious but didn't know how to command the robot to let go. If she accidentally gave the wrong command and made the robot do something even crazier, she really wouldn't know how to ease the tension between Nathaniel and Jacob.
Finally, when Jacoba came downstairs, Aurelia sternly called out, "Jacoba, come here!"
Jacoba pouted and responded with a nonchalant, "Okay."
He pressed a button on the robot with his small hand, and the robot made a clicking sound and let go.
Nathaniel was finally free.
Aurelia helped him up, looking embarrassed. "I'm really sorry, Nathaniel. Only Jacob knows how to control this robot. I didn't dare to touch it just now. Are you hurt anywhere?"
Nathaniel put his hands on his hips, licked his lips, and looked at Jacob.
From Aurelia's words, he understood another layer of meaning: only Jacoba could command the robot. That meant it was the little guy who had commanded the robot to attack him!
What a little troublemaker! What a surprising welcome gift.
At this moment, Jacoba acted as if nothing had happened, playing with a scooter in the living room, sliding from the kitchen to the balcony and back. He was usually a polite child who would greet guests, but now he completely ignored Nathaniel, riding the scooter back and forth in front of him.
Aurelia, of course, didn't know what was going on in her son's mind. She was a bit angry at Jacoba's rude behavior.
"Jacoba, put the scooter down and wash your hands for dinner," she demanded.
Jacoba didn't dare to disobey Aurelia and obediently put the scooter aside, taking Dorothy to wash their hands.
Nathaniel stood there feeling both angry and amused. He thought the airport incident was bad enough, but meeting his son was even more challenging. In comparison, Dorothy was much better behaved.
He looked at Jacoba's round head and the confident way he walked, already imagining how rebellious this son would be in the future.
Jacoba came out after washing hands with Dorothy and noticed Nathaniel still staring at him. He fearlessly met Nathaniel's gaze.
Nathaniel chuckled, thinking of how fearless he was as a child. Matthew's friends' kids, who had visited Nathaniel's villa a few times, had all been influenced by him, turning into little rascals that even the neighborhood dogs steered clear of.
Looking at Jacob now, Nathaniel thought, wasn't he at the age where a bit of mischief was only natural? A little bit of trouble in a boy wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
In just a few minutes, Nathaniel had forgotten the embarrassment of being pinned down and made peace with the robot.
He waved at Jacoba and said, "Jacob, come here."
Jacoba wasn't afraid of him and walked over confidently.
Nathaniel glanced towards the kitchen where Aurelia was helping Betty serve the food. He squatted down and asked softly, "Who took you to my office last time?"
He wasn't stupid. The moment he saw Jacob, he recognized him as the boy who had mysteriously appeared at his company looking for his dad not long ago. At that time, he had told the boy that he had mistaken him for someone else.
Now he realized that it wasn't the child who had made a mistake.
Judging by Aurelia's reactions over the past few days, it was clear that Jacob had gone to find him without her knowing.
Jacoba, hearing Nathaniel's question, instinctively looked back at Aurelia. Seeing that she hadn't heard their conversation, he let out a sigh of relief.
If Aurelia found out that he had tricked Dahlia into taking him to the Heilbronn Group to find his dad, he would definitely be in trouble. This was a secret that had to be kept from his mom.
Jacoba admitted, "I tricked Dahlia into taking me there myself."
Nathaniel raised an eyebrow and asked, "Then why did you leave after finding me?"
"Do you really need to ask? I wasn't satisfied with you!" Jacoba replied.
Nathaniel rubbed his forehead. "You weren't satisfied with me the first time you saw me? Can you tell me what you weren't satisfied with?"
Jacoba's big eyes rolled, just about to speak when Aurelia called out, "Dinner's ready; let's talk while we eat!"
Jacoba turned and ran to the dining room, helping his sister into her seat before climbing into his own. His eyes darted between his mom and dad, worried that his dad would complain to his mom.
He regretted rushing over so quickly; he should have given a few warnings first.
Dorothy tugged at Jacoba's shirt and whispered, "Is that handsome uncle really our dad?"
Jacoba, with a hint of disappointment in his voice, replied, "I'm sorry to tell you, but yes, it's him."
Dorothy didn't ask anything else, blinking her eyes and looking over at Nathaniel.
At this moment, Nathaniel was also helping to bring out the food from the kitchen.
Betty had been busy all morning, preparing all of Aurelia's favorite dishes, along with a variety of delicate snacks to delight the children, looking even better than what the kindergarten chef made.
Nathaniel brought out a plate of small animal-shaped bread, including tigers, dinosaurs, ducks, and pigs.
Nathaniel placed the small bread in front of the two kids, clearly trying to please them.
Once Aurelia and Betty had set all the dishes on the table, Nathaniel sat down next to Dorothy. This was the first meal the four of them had together, and Nathaniel felt a deep sense of contentment. Despite the two kids still being somewhat reserved towards him, he was confident that he could win them over eventually.
