Chapter 331 What Time is the Flight?

Aurelia had just finished booking the plane tickets when she finally noticed the person in the driver’s seat.

"Nathaniel, can you unlock the door?" She tried the handle but found it was still locked.

Nathaniel tried to suppress a smile, attempting to appear calm. "Did you book the tickets?"

Aurelia shot him a glare, realizing this sneaky man had been eavesdropping on her conversation.

Before Aurelia could answer, Nathaniel asked again, "What time is the flight? I'll pick you up!"

Aurelia looked at him. Despite Nathaniel's efforts to maintain a neutral expression, his joy was unmistakable. He had obviously guessed the truth.

Since the topic hadn't been brought up directly yet, she deliberately teased him, "None of your business."

Nathaniel rubbed his nose, his mind filled with the image of Dorothy hanging around his neck, calling him daddy. He had planned to talk about the kids at the Royal Elven Suites earlier.

He thought he wouldn't get the chance today, but with Dorothy's call, the timing was perfect. "Aurelia, when can I meet the kids?"

Aurelia was momentarily stunned. As she had suspected, Nathaniel knew. "When did you find out?"

Nathaniel looked a bit hurt. He wondered how long she would have kept this from him if he hadn't accidentally seen Jacob running out and guessed the truth.

"Aurelia, thank you!" he said, his voice thick with emotion.

This was the best gift he had ever received. He had never dared to dream of having children, and now he found out he had a son and a daughter, both growing up without his knowledge and already in preschool.

He regretted missing out on four years, not being there to watch them grow, not fulfilling his duties as a father. Now, he was desperate to make up for lost time.

Aurelia paused. "Actually, I should thank you. Four years ago, when I was lying in the ICU with tubes all over me, if it weren't for the two babies in my belly, I probably wouldn't have wanted to wake up. They gave me the strength to keep fighting."

Hearing her talk about four years ago, Nathaniel felt a sharp pain in his heart. He remembered the tattoo on her shoulder from back then.

"Aurelia, was it very painful?" he asked.

Aurelia smiled faintly. "It's all in the past now."

Nathaniel's throat tightened. He couldn't bear to picture Aurelia lying there, covered in blood; the thought suffocated him.

"Aurelia, you haven't told me what time Dorothy's flight is tomorrow. I'll pick you up!" Nathaniel spoke with determination, making it clear that he was going to personally pick up his children.

Aurelia didn't object to him meeting the kids. They would eventually need to know the truth. But it was so sudden; she hadn't even told the kids in advance. Wouldn't it be too abrupt to suddenly bring him in front of them?

"Nathaniel, I'm not sure if the kids will recognize you. They've grown up without a father and have no concept of one. Don't scare my kids," Aurelia said.

Nathaniel corrected her, "Our kids."

After a moment, he added, "I know what I'm doing. I'll make sure the kids accept me."

"You'd better behave!" Aurelia replied.

Aurelia thought to herself that Dorothy might be easy, but her son wouldn't be so easy to handle. Don't get too confident.Nathaniel felt a surge of determination. He wanted to spend as much time as possible with the kids and pursue Aurelia.

Thinking about his packed schedule for tomorrow, he immediately sent a message to Zack: [Cancel all my appointments for tomorrow]

After sending the message, another thought crossed his mind. He turned to Aurelia and asked, "What does Dorothy like? What kind of gifts make her happy?"

Aurelia didn't want to hide it from him. If he wanted to be a good father, she was happy about it. At least the kids wouldn't grow up without a father's love like she did. She deeply understood the importance of family.

"Dorothy likes everything related to Disney's Princess Elsa, anything strawberry-flavored, drawing, and playing the piano," Aurelia said, thinking of Jacob next. "Jacob is into electronics, robots, programming, and he also enjoys playing soccer."

Nathaniel silently noted everything down and started planning what to prepare next.

Aurelia asked, "Can you unlock the door now? Jacob is still waiting at home."

Nathaniel cleared his throat and tentatively asked, "Can I come in?"

"No," Aurelia replied firmly.

She thought of Joe at home. If he saw the two of them, there would definitely be a fight. Until Nathaniel's image improved in her family's eyes, it was best to avoid any meeting to prevent more conflicts and unpleasantness.

Nathaniel felt a bit down.  "Alright, see you tomorrow."

He still didn't unlock the car door. Nathaniel's gripon the steering wheel tightened unconsciously.

"Aurelia, can I touch your shoulder?" he asked.

Aurelia felt a chill run down her spine at his question. What kind of request was that?

She tried the car door again, finding it still locked. Was he planning to force her into something? Aurelia edged away from him, unlocked her phone, ready to call for help if he tried anything inappropriate.

However, she believed Nathaniel wouldn't dare.

Nathaniel realized his question was inappropriate,

Realizing how his question must have sounded, Nathaniel quickly clarified, "Aurelia, I meant, can I see the scar on your shoulder?"

Aurelia relaxed upon hearing this. She lowered her head and smiled. The scars on her body were not just limited to her shoulder.

"It's late. Unlock the door. Jacob might be worried," she said.

Nathaniel nodded, and the next second, the car door unlocked.

Aurelia got out of the car and went straight into the house without looking back.

Although Nathaniel felt a bit down from being rejected, he was happy thinking about seeing Dorothy tomorrow.

She hadn't stopped him from meeting the kids, which meant she was willing to let them accept him. If he could win over the kids, winning over their mom wouldn't be far off.

Eventually, they would live in the same house.

Nathaniel stood outside for a while. Not long after, Joe came out, locking the security door and checking it before leaving.

Joe didn't drive today; his car was taken by Patrick.

Nathaniel initiated a conversation.  "Hey, brother-in-law, where are you headed? I can give you a ride!"

Joe paused, finding the voice annoying. "What are you doing here again?"

Nathaniel didn't hide anything and said directly, "To see the kids and discuss with Aurelia what gifts to buy for them."

Joe didn't bother with pleasantries. He opened the back door, got in, and gave him the address, treating him like a chauffeur.

"You seem to be getting the hang of being a dad. Do you have any idea how much Aurelia went through giving birth to those two kids?" Joe said.

Nathaniel remained silent. He knew that childbirth was no small feat. Beatrice had complications after giving birth to Ashley and had been consulting various doctors with little improvement.

Even with modern medical advancements, many postpartum issues were unavoidable. For instance, changes in body shape were relatively minor. Some women experienced postpartum depression due to hormonal shifts after giving birth.
