Chapter 477 Will It Be Dangerous?

Marcus finally voiced the question that had been gnawing at him: why did two seemingly unrelated people look so alike that even he, Burry's closest confidant, could barely tell them apart?

Saying it was a coincidence? He wouldn't buy it.

Nathaniel finished cooking another dish and joined their conversation, turning to Marcus with a smirk.

"Do you really wanna know?"

He had never shared what he had discovered about Burry with Marcus. There was one time he had intended to, but that night, Marcus had kidnapped Aurelia and ended up in the hospital.

He hadn't said anything, fearing it might worsen Marcus's condition, afraid he might completely lose his mind.

Marcus sensed that Nathaniel knew something about Burry, something he desperately wanted to know—something he dreamed of knowing.

Marcus adjusted his glasses and replied calmly, "Of course."

Nathaniel placed the cleaned pot back on the stove.

"This might trigger your condition. Think carefully before you decide to listen."

With the conversation at this point, not continuing would only make Marcus more anxious to know.

"Just tell me."

Nathaniel spoke slowly, "I investigated your wife, Burry, whom you met abroad. She does look exactly like Aurelia. As for their relationship, I think you have a guess, and to be honest, we have the same suspicion.

I've already sent their hair for testing. The results will be out in a few days."

Marcus was stunned.

"Where did you get Burry's hair?"

He knew Nathaniel was capable, but Burry had passed away five years ago, and they had been traveling the world without a fixed residence. Where could he have found her hair?

Even Marcus himself couldn't have done that.

Nathaniel continued, "Burry isn't dead. She's still alive."

Marcus was completely shocked. She wasn't dead? She was still alive?

For years, he had been in a daze, always feeling she hadn't left this world, treating Aurelia as her, sometimes waking up in the middle of the night, painfully aware that she had perished in that avalanche, completely gone from this world.

Now Nathaniel was telling him that Burry wasn't dead, she was still alive.

He didn't know how to describe his feelings. It seemed his sixth sense was right; he had always felt she hadn't left this world.

"Where is Burry, Nathaniel? Tell me!"

Marcus's emotions were running high, his hands gripping Nathaniel's shoulders. He was desperate to know everything about Burry, and the avalanche had become a mystery in his heart.

He had searched after the incident, using all his connections, looking for her for so long, but found nothing, not even a piece of her clothing. They said she was buried under the snow.

He had dug through the snow with his bare hands for three days and nights until he passed out and was rescued by the search team. Now, hearing she was alive was incredible.

With the conversation at this point, Nathaniel didn't want to hide anything from him anymore. He understood how dark and difficult the days of losing a loved one could be, and he could completely empathize with Marcus's feelings at this moment.

"Burry is now with a major drug lord in Elvenia. I'm not sure if she's being coerced or if she's there willingly."

Hearing Nathaniel mention the drug lord, Marcus's eyes narrowed, and he had a hunch.

That year, he and Burry had met that person while traveling in Elvenia. That person had confessed to Burry but was thoroughly rejected. Burry couldn't have willingly gone with that person; she must have been coerced.

So, deducing from this, the avalanche was likely man-made. He hadn't expected that drug lord to resort to force after being rejected, creating a disaster to take her forcibly.

Marcus started coughing violently, his eyes reddening with hatred. He yanked off his apron.

"Nathaniel, I have to rescue her. Burry must be trapped."

He made a move to leave.

Nathaniel grabbed him.

"Uncle Marcus, we need to plan this carefully. Burry's health is fragile. I found out she has leukemia and has been undergoing treatment. That drug lord is searching everywhere for a match to help her."

Marcus's fists clenched, veins bulging on his arms. Another shocking revelation exploded in his ears.

How could she have such a deadly disease?

He turned to look at Aurelia.

"Aurelia, if you two are related... You would help her, right? She needs a match, she's only twenty-eight."

Aurelia finished chopping the vegetables and handed the plate to Nathaniel.

"Once the test results are out, if we are indeed family, I wouldn't stand by and watch her suffer. I believe if it were me with the health issue, she wouldn't just watch either."

Marcus coughed violently, covering his mouth and nose, and said,

"She wouldn't. She's the kindest person, and she values family the most. She dreams of finding her relatives in this world."

Nathaniel knew Marcus would react this way, which is why he had kept it from him.

"Don't get too worked up. This is part of my plan. The drug lord in Elvenia is dangerous; we can't act recklessly, we need to be smart."

Marcus finally calmed down, taking deep breaths. Even though he was usually composed, he was now extremely anxious.

"What do you have in mind?"

"I hired a private investigator over there, keeping an eye on things. That investigator is also working for another group, monitoring the drug lord, waiting for a chance to catch him and take him down."

Nathaniel paused and continued,

"The police are likely planning to move soon."

"So we just wait for the police to act, and do nothing?"

"Not exactly. We observe and help the police gather evidence when necessary. Since the police are onto him, he won't be able to evade them for long."

Marcus had another violent coughing fit, then took out his phone to book a ticket. Nathaniel snatched the phone from him.

"Uncle Marcus, you can't do anything right now; you'll only spook them. I'll inform you immediately if there's any movement. Besides, Burry might think you're dead, just like you thought she died in that avalanche."

Reed heard the coughing from the kitchen and came in with Marcus's usual spray.

"Why are you coughing so suddenly? Use the spray."

Reed helped Marcus out of the kitchen, leaving Nathaniel and Aurelia alone.

Aurelia said calmly,

"You shouldn't have told him so soon. He'll act impulsively, and if he does something uncontrollable, what then?"

Nathaniel leaned against the counter.

"Burry's situation can't be hidden from him for long. When the time comes, I might need to go to Elvenia myself to find a way to bring Burry back."

This time, Aurelia was the one who got anxious.

"Will it be dangerous?"

Nathaniel couldn't deny it. It would definitely be dangerous; rescuing someone from a drug lord was no easy task.

"I'll be careful."

The conversation had taken a heavy turn, and Aurelia lost her appetite for cooking.

"If it's very dangerous, I hope you won't go."

Aurelia looked at him intently, her eyes conveying her wish for him not to take the risk.

Compared to a relative she had never met, she was more concerned about his safety. If she had to choose, she would rather never have heard about Burry.

After all, Burry wasn't living a miserable life over there. The drug lord, despite his dark business, seemed to cherish her deeply.
