Chapter 311 We'll leave on time

A sound of cough confirmed Aurelia's suspicions.

She calmed down and looked around. She wasn't familiar with this place and didn't even know where the staircase was, making it hard to run.

Since she came, she might as well have settled down.

"Marcus, so you're patient number nine?"

Aurelia casually placed the water bottle on the table.

"This bottle of water is for you. My task is done, and I need to go downstairs to get new clues."

Marcus had already turned around, his face obscured by the moonlight.

"Aurelia, I have something to discuss with you. Could you not leave just yet?"

Aurelia held her phone, ready to dial at any moment, watching Marcus approach step by step. The closer he got, the faster her heart raced.

"Marcus, can we talk about it tomorrow? I just remembered I left my bag downstairs, and it has some valuable items. I need to go get it."

Marcus didn't come any closer and instead sat down on the sofa.

"Aurelia, I just want to have a quick word with you. Please hear me out."

Aurelia fell silent, and Marcus added,

"A few months ago, I bought the house abroad that we once liked. I thought I'd never see you again and bought it just for the memories. Who would have thought we'd have another chance? I've had my assistant take care of everything over there; all that's left is for us to move in. How about we move next month?"

Aurelia's heart trembled. Marcus started losing it again! Damn!

"Marcus, I'm not the person you think I am. Maybe I look a lot like her, but I am Aurelia, no one else! Please wake up. I was born in Imperick, grew up in Imperick, and have only been to Melicia. Do you understand what I'm saying?"

Aurelia finished in one breath. The air fell silent for a long time. In the darkness, she heard a soft laugh. Though she couldn't see Marcus's face, she could tell from his voice that the laugh was full of affection.

He must really love that woman, to the core.

Marcus paused and then asked,

"Aurelia, of course, I know you're Aurelia, but you are more than just Aurelia."

Marcus paused again and said,

"You are also my wife, whom I married in Elvenia."

Aurelia gasped. It seemed that everything she had said was useless. Marcus had already decided on his own that she was his wife.

"How could I have two identities, Marcus? Do you need to see a doctor?"

In Aurelia's view, Marcus's most critical issue wasn't his asthma, but his schizophrenia, which had reached a very severe level.

"Aurelia, haven't you had enough of Imperick? Haven't you seen through those men? Don't you know there's nothing worth staying for here? The person who loves you the most is me. I could die for you."

Marcus said these extreme words without changing his expression or tone, sitting on the sofa and sipping his tea.

Aurelia clutched her phone, a thin layer of sweat forming on her forehead.

"Marcus, I think you need to see a psychologist. If you don't want to go, I can help you make an appointment."

Marcus smirked and said,

"The one who needs to see a psychologist is Nathaniel, not me. You think there's something wrong with my mind. That's okay. I can give you time to adjust. I can wait as long as it takes, as long as you stop entangling with Nathaniel. Do whatever you want."

Aurelia was getting frantic. She wanted to leave immediately.

Downstairs, Caleb was restless with the cards in his hand.

He had already arranged a safe passage with his assistant. Once Aurelia came up, he would take her away from here, away from Nathaniel's sight. Nathaniel was openly scheming against him, and he couldn't let Nathaniel have his way, especially since they were now rivals in love.

He had to stop Nathaniel from getting close to Aurelia, even in public, not giving him any chance.

Caleb glanced at his watch. The game had been going on for over twenty minutes. If everything was going as expected, Nathaniel should be tied up with Lori by now. Why hadn't she come up yet?

He called his assistant.

"Check the surveillance and see where Ms. Semona is right now."

Soon, the assistant called back.

"Mr. Sinclair, Ms. Semona went to the top floor and hasn't come down since."

Caleb looked out the window with his hands on his hips. The power outage was strange, and he was worried. Could it be another one of Nathaniel's tricks?

It was entirely possible!

Nathaniel had been a bad person since childhood, usually hiding it well but full of schemes and tricks.

Thinking of this, Caleb quickly headed to the safe passage. The top floor was just above him. He used his phone's flashlight and climbed up two steps at a time.

"Aurelia, are you there?"

Caleb's voice was breathless from hurrying.

Hearing his voice, she felt a sense of hope.

Aurelia quickly responded,

"Caleb, I'm here."

She ran towards the sudden light.

"Caleb, I want to go back."

Caleb's eyes fell on the figure on the sofa. He couldn't see who was sitting there but felt an oppressive aura.

"Let's go."

Caleb turned and shone his phone's light on the stairs, letting Aurelia walk in front of him. They had just taken a few steps when they heard a somewhat hurt and helpless voice from behind,

"Aurelia, make some time to pack your things. We'll leave."

His tone wasn't one of discussion, but of notification.

Aurelia felt a chill down her spine and ran down the stairs like a rabbit, with Caleb almost unable to keep up with his phone.

Only when she was sure no one was following did Aurelia stop to catch her breath at the stairwell.

Caleb caught up and helped her calm down.

"Aurelia, what happened?"

Aurelia was still catching her breath, panting heavily, saying,

"He might have some mental issues."

Caleb had recognized Marcus's voice earlier. He had a good impression of Marcus before, thinking he was polite and well-mannered, more refined than Nathaniel.

"What happened to him?"

Aurelia, leaning on her knees, had been resting for a while. She felt this wasn't the time to go into details and decided to talk to Nathaniel later, asking him to find a way to get Marcus treated.

She didn't care about Marcus's health, but now he was harassing her. Thinking back to Marcus's words made her feel creepy, and she couldn't imagine what he might do next time, possibly even forcibly taking her to Elvenia.

The more she thought about it, the more terrified she became.

"Let's not talk about it now. What floor are we on?"

As soon as Aurelia asked, she heard a seductive woman's voice from inside the building,

"Darling, why are you in such a hurry? Am I not attractive? Say something!"

Can't win me back
