Chapter 475 Bullying Aurelia Has No Good Outcome

Phoenix knew Demetrius was a workaholic, always taking his job way too seriously.

"Demetrius, it's not what you think. I'm thinking about leaving the industry," Phoenix said, then turned to his assistant, Beck. "And Beck, you should find a new job first, then I'll leave."

Demetrius was livid. How could Phoenix even think about quitting over something so minor? The entertainment industry was brutal, and without grit, how could he handle future challenges?

Phoenix had always had it too easy. Now, just because he lost some fans and got criticized, he was ready to throw in the towel?

"Get a grip, man. It's just a rumor, no big deal. You're trending number one, and Instagram crashed for two hours. Do you realize how much influence you have?"

"Demetrius, stop trying to convince me. I'm feeling really down and just want to be alone. Is there any alcohol at home?"

Demetrius sighed, almost swearing in frustration. "Come on, dude. You're a grown man, and you're upset over a rumor? If you can't handle this, maybe you should go back to being an heir."

They were talking past each other.

Phoenix had one thought in his mind: if he weren't a celebrity, just an ordinary guy, maybe he'd have a chance with Aurelia. At least he wouldn't be rejected outright.

He tried to see things from Aurelia's perspective. If he were an ordinary person and his girlfriend was a celebrity, constantly harassed by paparazzi and fans, he wouldn't be able to stand it either.

Phoenix spent most of the day on the couch, convinced that his celebrity status was the root of the problem. His idea of quitting the industry grew stronger.

Meanwhile, Aurelia was keeping an eye on the online buzz. As the negative comments started to decrease, she felt a bit better.

But then, the trending topics on Instagram suddenly changed, replaced by other celebrity gossip. Just as she was wondering what had happened, Nathaniel called.

"Aurelia, I'm sorry. I just saw the news. Why didn't you tell me earlier?"

He had been in meetings all day and only saw the gossip news afterward. He immediately had Zack contact the PR department to remove the trending topic.

Now he finally had time to call her.

Aurelia had a pretty good idea of what happened. "Did you pay to have the trending topic removed?"

"Yeah."

"Phoenix has already clarified things. It's not a big deal."

As she spoke, her eyes drifted to a package on the table. She picked up a small knife from the pen holder and opened the box. The next second, she screamed in terror.

"What happened?" Nathaniel was frantic on the other end. Her scream was filled with fear, and he couldn't see or help her.

"Aurelia, what's going on?"

In her panic, Aurelia had knocked the box to the floor, revealing a dead rat inside.

Aurelia was terrified of rats. Just thinking about them scared her.

She clutched her phone and hid in a corner.

Hearing her scream, the employees outside rushed in to see what was wrong. When they saw the dead rat, none of the women dared to approach. Finally, they called a guy to use cleaning tools to remove it and throw away the box.

Aurora came in with disinfectant to clean up.

Aurelia, still shaking, took her phone and walked to the lobby. Once she calmed down, she spoke.

"Someone sent me a dead rat."

Nathaniel's brow furrowed, cursing Phoenix and his troublesome fans.

"Aurelia, wait there. I'm coming to you."

Nathaniel hurried to the elevator, and within minutes, he was at Karma Jewelry.

By then, the mess had been cleaned up, and Aurora and her team were disinfecting the office.

Nathaniel stepped out of the elevator and quickly walked over to Aurelia, pulling her into a comforting hug.

"Are you okay?"

Aurelia pulled away, embarrassed. "Don't... they're all watching."

Nathaniel had acted on instinct, wanting to comfort her.

They stood outside the office, and in those few minutes, Aurelia had thought a lot. It wasn't just the rat that scared her; it was the fear that this might be just the beginning. If someone could send her a dead rat today, who knows what they might do tomorrow?

Aurelia sniffled. "Do you think they'll come back?"

Nathaniel licked his lips. The chances of them coming back were high. They had to be extra careful for now.

"Aurelia, I'll find out who did this. Until this is resolved, don't go anywhere alone, not even downstairs."

Aurelia nodded.

Nathaniel continued, "I'll handle the rest. You go back to work."

Nathaniel had brought Zack with him, who was already in the lobby checking the security footage to trace the package.

Aurora came out of the office. "Ms. Semona, the office is clean. We've disinfected everything thoroughly."

Nathaniel followed Aurelia back to the office, which was spotless and smelled faintly of disinfectant. Aurora hadn't missed a single corner.

Nathaniel inspected the office, and Zack called.

"Mr. Heilbronn, it was a slightly overweight woman disguised as a delivery person. The security footage didn't clearly capture her face. I'll check the street cameras next to find her."

"Good. Don't let her get away!"

He needed to show everyone that messing with his woman had serious consequences.

Aurelia sat back in her chair and looked at Nathaniel. "Aren't you busy today?"

"Not really."

He was lying. It had been a hectic day.

"Go back to work. I'm safe here in the office. There are security guards downstairs."

Nathaniel hesitated, but seeing that she was okay, he relaxed a bit.

"Remember what I said. Don't go downstairs alone. Wait for me to pick you up after work."

"Okay."

"Don't open any packages until I get here."

"Okay."

"Don't eat any takeout. I'll have The Velvet Palate deliver your meals."

"Okay."

"Don't go online to read those nasty comments. I won't let anyone who insulted you get away with it."

"Okay."

Nathaniel gave a long list of instructions, and Aurelia just kept agreeing. He wasn't sure if she was really listening.

Nathaniel asked again, "Are you sure you'll be okay alone?"

"Yes."
