Chapter 456 A Foodie Living in the House

"Aurelia, it's great that you came today. I can pay you back the money I owe you. It's rare to find friends who lend money these days. Thanks again!"

The money Oscar borrowed last time hadn't been repaid yet, but coincidentally, he received a payment today and could settle it in person. After speaking, he picked up his phone to transfer the money.

Aurelia's phone chimed, indicating a deposit, which was slightly more than what she had lent.

"Oscar, I didn't come to ask for the money back. You can keep it for now; I don't need it at the moment."

"A good borrower repays promptly, making future loans easier. Aurelia, you're much easier to deal with than Nathaniel. Despite our many years of friendship, you saw his attitude last time when I borrowed money from him!"

Just then, Nathaniel arrived at the door. It wasn't locked, so a gentle push opened it.

Nathaniel asked, "Did your dad unlock your card?"

Oscar was taken aback and cursed inwardly. He could never badmouth someone without them overhearing.

"None of your business! Even if I starve on the streets, I won't borrow a penny from you again. Look how scared you are."

Nathaniel ignored him, changed his shoes, and walked over to Aurelia.

"Aurelia, was there any traffic on the way?"

"No traffic."

"Are you hungry? How's everything at the company?"

Oscar felt nauseated. This guy, who usually acted tough, was now showing a softer side around Aurelia. It was as if the wild wolf had turned into a loyal pet, completely tamed by her.

Oscar asked, "My latest batch of tea is about to be ready. Are the people you contacted reliable?"

Back when Oscar was still a wealthy young man, he had bought a tea plantation out of boredom, thinking the environment was nice for occasional visits. Little did he know that he would now rely on the income from that plantation to make a living.

The tea he grew was delicate and required meticulous care, with a complex production process. Naturally, it was marketed as a high-end product. Nathaniel had helped him find many clients, and the previous batches had sold at high prices.

Oscar's wallet could be a bit fuller again.

Nathaniel sat on the sofa, pretending to be thirsty. "I'm a bit thirsty!"

"Got it!"

Oscar brewed the latest tea and served a cup to Nathaniel, then another to Aurelia. These two were his VIPs now.

"Mr. Heilbronn, how is it?"

He even changed his address, calling him Mr. Heilbronn when he needed something, and Nathaniel when he didn't.

Coincidentally, Ulysses came out of the kitchen with freshly made dishes. Hearing this, he shot a disapproving look in their direction.

Oscar scratched his head and muttered, "Petty man."

Aurelia couldn't help but tease, "Oscar, are you trying to steal my man? Mr. Heilbronn is a straightforward guy, you know."

Oscar was exasperated. These people were definitely ganging up on him.

Nathaniel said, "I think your tea might not sell well this year. Why don't you think of a way to set up a stall at the market? You don't have much to do anyway, and selling a bit is better than nothing."

"Mr. Heilbronn, don't be like that! If not for our years of friendship, at least consider these cats. If I weren't taking care of Dorothy's cats, who knows how she'd react."

On the balcony's cat tree, several cats were yawning and sunbathing. Oscar loved cats and had taken good care of them, making them much fatter than when he first got them.

Nathaniel finally stopped teasing him.

"I've already arranged the sales channels for you. As long as you can maintain the quality, the price will only go up, not down. The feedback from the last batch was good, and the clients were quite satisfied. You can increase the planting volume and expand this business. You might even surpass your dad one day."

Oscar had no grand ambitions. From the day he was born, he was told not to worry about anything because most problems in the world could be solved with money, and his family had plenty of it. He just wanted to live a carefree life.

"No need to surpass him. As long as I can cover my daily expenses without asking him for money, that's enough."

Meanwhile, Ulysses had prepared a table full of dishes and neatly set four sets of cutlery, calling everyone to eat.

"Dinner's ready."

The four of them hadn't seen each other in a while, so they couldn't help but have a drink.

Aurelia looked at the exquisite dishes on the table and couldn't help but praise, "Ulysses, your cooking skills have improved so much!"

Ulysses opened a bottle of red wine and poured a glass for everyone. "With a foodie living in the house, what else could I do?"

Oscar was displeased with Ulysses' comment. What did he mean by a foodie living in the house? Even when he was alone, he still needed to eat. It wasn't like the food was made just for him. "Isn't it you who likes to cook? Why blame it on me?"

Ulysses replied seriously, "I don't like it!"

Aurelia raised her hands in agreement, "Oscar, he really didn't like cooking before. When he used to invite me over, he always ordered takeout. Look at the treatment now; it's improved by countless levels."

Oscar cleared his throat uncomfortably. Among these people, Aurelia was the only one he could somewhat believe. So, this guy really was cooking for him every day.

"Then I'll help you next time."

"No need. Just wash your own dishes after eating and do your own laundry. Don't wait for me."

Oscar knew he was in the wrong and focused on eating.

Halfway through the meal, Oscar's phone rang. Seeing it was his sister's number, he answered.

"Oscar, come quickly!"

Oscar's expression turned serious. "What happened? Don't cry."

"Dad... Dad is in the hospital. Come quickly. They haven't found out what's wrong yet."

Oscar's hand holding the cutlery froze. He left the table to change his shoes. "You guys eat. My dad is in the hospital. I need to go see him."

Nathaniel, who hadn't finished his drink, grabbed his car keys and stood up. "I'll go with you."

Aurelia said, "I'll go too."

Ulysses also stood up, "We're all going."

The four of them got into Nathaniel's car and headed straight to the hospital.

In the consultation room, the doctor hadn't come out yet. Oscar's mother and younger sister Linda were anxiously waiting in the hallway.

Seeing Oscar come out of the elevator, his mother wiped her tears, both angry and worried.

"Your dad suddenly fainted, and we don't know why. Oscar, can you stop fighting with the family? Move back home tomorrow."

Oscar didn't say whether he would move back or not. If he did, his dad would recover and start setting him up with women again. Who could stand that?

"Mom, let's not talk about that now. Let's see how Dad is first."

As they spoke, the doctor came out of the room.

"The patient has something in his brain pressing on his nerves. He needs surgery as soon as possible. The family should prepare and go through the admission procedures."

Oscar was stunned. In his memory, Arthur had always been in good health, never having any major issues. He didn't even take medicine more than three times a year.

But now, he suddenly had a serious illness.

Can't win me back
