Chapter 89 Why Aren't You Wearing Clothes?
Reed raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong? Has Nathaniel been bullying you again?"
Aurelia chuckled lightly, wondering why her grandfather was always worried about Nathaniel bullying her. "Grandpa, it's not like that."
"I can see that you've been looking good lately. It seems like you've gained some weight. If Nathaniel dares to bully you, come to me. Let me handle him!"
Aurelia thought to herself that she had found good support. Her grandfather never favored his own grandson and always sided with his granddaughter-in-law.
However, her grandfather noticed that she had gained some weight, which meant that her recent weight gain was quite noticeable.
"Aurelia, how's your time in the design department been recently?"
Aurelia hesitated for a moment. She didn't want to burden her grandfather with the trivial annoyances of work.
"Grandpa, it's been good."
Reed nodded. "You've spent enough time in this department. Consider trying out other departments. Rotate through the core departments of the group and then help Nathaniel. The wife of the head of the Heilbronn Group can't stay in the design department forever. In a few years, I'll give you half of the shares I hold, and the future of the Heilbronn Group's jewelry business will be in the hands of you young people."
Aurelia's lips twitched. She hadn't expected her grandfather to plan things out for her like this, hoping that she and Nathaniel could run the company well together.
"Grandpa, Nathaniel won't let you down. The Heilbronn Group will only get better and better."
Reed smiled kindly. "The Heilbronn Group will thrive, and both of you will as well. It would be best if, in my lifetime, I could have great-grandchildren."
"Grandpa..."
Aurelia scratched her head, unsure of how to respond. Just then, Betty from the kitchen finished preparing the meal and called her over to eat.
"You should go eat," Reed urged her.
Aurelia sat in the dining room with a myriad of thoughts. She planned to tell Nathaniel about this matter when he returned from his business trip to put her grandfather's mind at ease.
That evening, Aurelia stayed at the Heilbronn Villa.
She played a few rounds of chess with Reed in the evening. By nine o'clock, Reed yawned, saying he was tired. Aurelia packed up the chess set and escorted him back to his bedroom.
That done, she came out and ran into Marcus standing at the staircase, one hand covering his mouth and nose, and he coughed forcefully.
Seeing Aurelia, he coughed a few more times abruptly.
"Uncle Marcus, are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?"
Marcus waved his hand, trying to calm himself down. "I have asthma, an old problem."
"Do you need me to get you a glass of water?"
Marcus smiled. "That would be great, Aurelia."
The water dispenser was on the first floor. Aurelia passed by him and went downstairs.
"Uncle Marcus, you don't need to be so polite with me. You've helped me a lot."
This was their little secret. Marcus smiled knowingly, looking somewhat weak.
Sitting in the living room, Marcus took a small bottle from his pocket, poured a few pills into his palm, and washed them down with the water Aurelia had brought.
"Aurelia, did you block me on Facebook?"
Aurelia's mind raced. Nathaniel had pressured her to block Marcus last time, and she had forgotten to unblock him afterward. Now, being asked directly by Marcus, she felt embarrassed. How could she have forgotten about this? It seemed that pregnancy really made women a bit forgetful.
At that moment, she felt awkward and didn't know what to say.
Blaming Nathaniel for forcing her to do it might sow discord in their uncle-niece relationship, but she couldn't admit to doing it herself either.
"Uncle Marcus, I cleaned up a lot of intermediary and advertising friends a few days ago. I might have accidentally blocked you. I'll unblock you now."
Marcus raised an eyebrow and casually picked up a grape from the fruit plate on the table, looking nonchalant.
After a few seconds, Aurelia awkwardly said, "Uncle Marcus, it is done."
Marcus checked his phone and saw an emoji she had sent, followed by the word 'Sorry.'
"Aurelia, it's okay. Come over and have some fruit."
"Uncle Marcus, I heard you haven't been going to the company recently. Is your health okay?"
Marcus took out a tissue to wipe his hands. "It's nothing serious. I might have some pollen allergies, causing a recurrence of my old problem. A few days of rest should fix it."
Since Marcus returned, all the flowers in the villa's yard had been removed, leaving only green plants. However, it was currently the flowering season, with flowers blooming everywhere in the streets, and the pollen in the air had exceeded what he could tolerate.
Aurelia felt sorry for Marcus. Such a handsome man was burdened with such an ailment.
"Aurelia, could you do me a favor?"
Aurelia's thoughts were brought back. "Uncle Marcus, what do you need my help with?"
In Aurelia's mind, Marcus was as enigmatic as Nathaniel. Both belonged to the type of people who could control everything. The difference was that Nathaniel was like a proud peacock, flaunting everything openly and using his strength to crush anyone who dared to defy him.
Marcus, on the other hand, was different. Since getting to know him, Aurelia had sensed that he was very deep in thought, appearing gentle on the surface but ruthless in his methods. Anyone who crossed him would not have a good ending.
Aurelia didn't know what kind of help a person with such wealth and power needed from her.
Marcus opened his phone's album and handed Aurelia a set of pictures. "A new line from the Auro brand needs models. Could you come and endorse Auro?"
Aurelia nervously scratched her knee. "Uncle Marcus, it's better to find professional models for endorsements. Besides, I..."
Her gaze fell on her waist and belly. She had recently gained weight, and she was aware of it.
Marcus chuckled lightly. "It's okay. I just think that the style of Auro brand clothes matches your temperament, and as the boss lady of the Heilbronn Group, you are the most suitable choice for endorsement."
Suddenly, Aurelia thought of Nathaniel's warning at home. Could Uncle Marcus have some inappropriate thoughts about her?
Thinking about this, she felt uncomfortable all over, feeling restless.
However, Marcus remained professional in discussing work with her, and his words and actions were proper, showing no signs of offense.
"Uncle Marcus, may I ask why our brand is named Auro?"
Aurelia asked tentatively, holding her breath, afraid of hearing something she shouldn't.
Marcus looked at her face, paused for a few seconds, and smiled. "A professional naming company chose the name. They said that the Auro brand would be popular worldwide, so the name was finalized. It seems that you and the Auro brand are destined to be together!"
Aurelia breathed a sigh of relief. It was good that his answer wasn't what she had feared.
"Uncle Marcus, I might not be suitable for endorsing the Auro brand. Why don't you find a model? Sinclair Media should have plenty of suitable candidates. They are coming over today to discuss Ashley's marriage. The marriage has already been arranged by both families, so it should be easy for them to find a suitable model with just a word."
Marcus raised an eyebrow. "Ashley is getting older. It's time someone managed her spoiled temperament."
Aurelia chatted awkwardly with him for a few more moments, thinking of an excuse to go upstairs. Just then, her phone rang, and she almost dropped it in surprise.
"Nathaniel, why aren't you wearing clothes?"
