Chapter 59 An Old Friend

Aurelia blushed at his words.
Nathaniel intentionally leaned in to nibble her earlobe, and when she tried to evade, he gently held her head in place.
A soft moan escaped her; her ears were indeed sensitive.
Nathaniel knew exactly how to tease her.
"Don't change your clothes when we get back," he whispered, his restrained breath sending shivers down her spine.
Nathaniel released her, both of them breathing heavily.
Aurelia avoided his gaze as his eyes were filled with desire. She feared that one more word from her would lead to something more between them.
Nathaniel brushed aside a strand of her hair. "You look beautiful," he remarked. "In the future, dressing in such a manner shall be confined to our abode."
Aurelia felt a surge of happiness at his compliment. It was rare for him to say something nice. But his next words quickly dampened her mood.
He was still possessive, not wanting others to share in her beauty.
Aurelia chuckled, "Wear makeup and formal attire at home? Are you out of your mind?"
Dressing up was for going out, not for staying in.
Nathaniel narrowed his eyes. "You don't have to wear formal attire at home, but there are plenty of clothes that suit you."
Aurelia rolled her eyes, not expecting his next words to be so direct.
"Actually, I think you look best without anything on."
Aurelia blushed, wanting to escape.
She looked at the man who was speaking so casually; he seemed as if he was discussing business.
Aurelia couldn't be as straightforward as him; she awkwardly bit her lip.
Little did she know, this action was incredibly enticing to Nathaniel.
He lowered his head and kissed her.
Aurelia couldn't resist his advances.
She pushed against his chest, but her actions only seemed to excite him more.
"Aurelia, let's sleep in the main bedroom tonight," he said, his slightly calloused fingers brushing her lips, removing the remnants of water and the lipstick he had partially consumed.
"Don't you want to sleep next to your husband?"
Aurelia didn't give in. Nathaniel's ability to easily suggest they sleep together, despite their previous argument, upset her.
Did he not care about her pain, or was he only interested in the physical aspect of their relationship?
The two fell into a sudden silence.
Nathaniel's gaze was fixed on her. "Aurelia, don't think you can hide from me. Do you think a lock can keep me out? I have keys to every door in this house. I bought this house, so I can even break down the doors if I want."
Aurelia was shocked; he actually had spare keys!
Nathaniel had probably been mocking her for locking the doors every night.
"Nathaniel, a marriage can't have three people," Aurelia said.
Nathaniel gently looked at her reddened eyes. "There is no such a person, just the two of us."
Aurelia looked into his serious eyes, and her heart softened a bit. Every time he spoke so gently, she found it impossible to resist.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. "Nathaniel, are you in there?"
It was Ashley's voice.
Nathaniel stood in front of Aurelia, unmoved, showing no intention of answering the person outside the door.
The knocking grew more insistent. "Nathaniel, it's your sister." Aurelia reminded him, and Nathaniel's eyebrows furrowed.
The two fell silent for a few more minutes. Nathaniel took a step back, and Aurelia breathed a sigh of relief as she turned to open the door.
Outside, Ashley and Chelsea were standing arm in arm. Their expressions changed at the sight of Aurelia. Clearly, they hadn't expected to find her inside.
"Nathaniel, why is she here?" Chelsea, who had sensed Nathaniel's growing distance after the last incident, stood silently to the side.
Ashley, as his friend, was sure to help her. After knocking for a long time, Aurelia came out with a blushed face, and Chelsea knew at once what they had been doing inside. She was sure about that when she spotted the lipstick at the corner of her lips.
Aurelia didn't even stop, treating the two outside as if they were invisible. Nathaniel's gaze remained on her even as she entered the elevator.
Ashley, a little displeased with the way Nathaniel looked at Aurelia, called out, "Nathaniel!"
Nathaniel's thoughts were interrupted, and he turned to face Ashley, asking, "What's the matter?" He didn't even glance at Chelsea.
"Oscar said he tried calling you, but no one answered, so he asked me to come up and find you. There are guests downstairs," Ashley explained.
Nathaniel raised an eyebrow. "What kind of guests require my welcome?"
Ashley impatiently replied, "I don't know. He didn't say. You should go and see for yourself."
Nathaniel took out his phone and saw seven missed calls from Oscar. As he turned to go downstairs, he paused for a few seconds as he brushed past Ashley. "Aurelia is my wife, so mind your manners in the future."
After speaking, he walked briskly to the stairs, leaving Ashley fuming.
Chelsea stood frozen on the side, her fingers ice-cold. She had suspected that Nathaniel had really fallen for Aurelia, and now, seeing him look at her back with such reluctance made her feel incredibly uncomfortable.
Chelsea knew that her impulsive actions had made Nathaniel lose trust in her and pushed him further towards that woman.
She clenched her fists in anger.
Why should she give up the man she had loved for over a decade? Aurelia didn't deserve Nathaniel's love.
"Chelsea, Chelsea?" Ashley called out, snapping Chelsea back to reality.
"Chelsea, don't worry. I have a way to deal with her," Ashley whispered, blocking her hand and speaking in a low voice with a smug smile on her face.
Chelsea was puzzled. "Can it really work? What if Nathaniel finds out?"
Ashley said, "Don't worry. Nathaniel cares a lot about his reputation. If Aurelia causes a scandal at today's event, she won't be able to stay in the Heilbronn family. Just wait and see."
The two went downstairs hand in hand.
In the lobby downstairs, Oscar was happily chatting and drinking with a man.
Nathaniel looked around until he spotted Oscar and walked over with a glass of wine.
"Nathaniel, where have you been all this time? You didn't answer your phone," Oscar said.
Nathaniel took a sip of his drink, and for a moment, the scene in the private room flashed through his mind.
Oscar wasn't interested in his whereabouts; his focus was on introducing the person in front of him.
"Guess who this is?"
Nathaniel looked at the handsome man in front of him, feeling a bit familiar but unable to recall his name. Out of politeness, he clinked glasses with him.
"This is Caleb Sinclair of Sinclair Media. We went to the same school before. Does that ring a bell?"
Nathaniel almost choked on his drink, and he coughed lightly.
"You don't seem to look the same as when you were a kid."
Caleb was always teased for being chubby and short when he was young. Oscar and Nathaniel remembered it.
It was a bit awkward to bring up these old stories after so many years.
Caleb picked up his glass and finished the remaining wine in one go.
Compared to Nathaniel, Oscar was completely at ease. He naturally enjoyed such social occasions.
"Caleb, are you staying in the country this time?" Caleb shook his head. "No, I'm getting married."
Oscar became interested. "You got engaged as soon as you returned? Who's the lucky girl?"
Caleb looked at Nathaniel and said, "The engagement isn't official yet, but I'm confident in pursuing her."
Can't win me back
