Chapter 452 The Old Guy
Phoenix's lips curved into a smile. "Just parked in the garage, not far from here. Want to see it?"
"Let's go."
Nathaniel wasn't really interested in his car; he wanted to get away from the crowd to teach Phoenix a lesson.
The two of them left immediately. Aurelia wasn't interested in cars; she was feeling a bit hungry and wanted to go inside to find something to eat. "You guys go ahead, I'll head in first."
As soon as Aurelia stepped inside, Nathaniel pulled Phoenix into a corner and gave him a light smack on the head.
"You've got some nerve now, huh? Even daring to ogle my girlfriend?"
Phoenix was defiant. Since Nathaniel had torn the facade first, he saw no need to be polite to him.
"What nonsense are you talking about? She's so outstanding, why would she want to be with an old guy like you?"
Nathaniel was stung by the term 'old guy.' His hawk-like eyes fixed on the ungrateful brat in front of him. The little tail that used to follow him around had grown up and now dared to call him 'old guy'!
"Forgot who protected you when you were bullied, huh?"
"Don't give me that. Why can't I look? I'm being polite by just looking. I won't just look; I'll pursue her too!"
Nathaniel twisted his ear and asked, "Say that again?"
"Even if you beat me to death today, I won't change my mind. So what? She hasn't become your wife. Everyone has a fair chance. Why can you pursue her, but others can't?"
Nathaniel applied more force. "You dare!"
"Let go! If you twist my ear off, my fans will tear down the Heilbronn Group building. Do you know how many fans I have?"
At this moment, Nathaniel's phone rang.
"Have you seen the car yet? It's about to start here." It was Aurelia's voice on the phone.
"Coming right away." Nathaniel let go of Phoenix's ear, reluctantly giving him a break, and turned to walk towards the hall.
The atmosphere in the hall was already lively, and everyone was waiting for the host to cut the cake.
Madeline held the cake knife, her eyes scanning the room. The cake wouldn't be cut without her only grandson present.
Dominic was furious, one hand on his hip and the other dialing the phone repeatedly, but no one answered. The household staff had all been sent out to find Phoenix!
At this moment, a voice in the crowd caught everyone's attention.
"I just saw Phoenix being called away by Aurelia. Not sure what they're up to."
Instantly, Aurelia became the center of attention, with many people whispering.
"I told you she's a vixen, right? She's ensnared all the wealthy men in Imperick. It's not enough to have Mr. Heilbronn; now she's after the only heir of the Sawyer family. Who else has such skills?"
"Don't talk nonsense. She's right there. If she hears and tells Mr. Heilbronn, can your family's business handle it?"
The person who had spoken immediately covered their mouth. "I didn't say it that loudly, did I?"
Aurelia heard all their words but held back, waiting for a more opportune moment to retaliate. Causing a scene at Madeline's birthday party would be inappropriate.
Aurelia simply held her wine glass, quietly waiting for Madeline to cut the cake.
Sometimes, the more one wanted to avoid trouble, the more it came to them.
Aurelia felt a chill on her shoulder. She turned around, but it was too late to dodge. Her white dress was stained with a large wine spill.
"Sorry, I lost my balance."
The apology came from a familiar face. Aurelia recalled the name, Lori, the actress who wouldn't leave Nathaniel alone.
Whether she lost her balance was obvious.
Aurelia didn't hold back. In the next second, she splashed her wine back at Lori. "Sorry, my hand slipped."
Lori was stunned. She hadn't expected Aurelia to be so direct. Before she could react, she was drenched in wine, ruining her meticulously styled hair and two-hour makeup.
She was furious.
No one had ever dared to treat her like this!
"What are you doing?" Lori shouted, her voice dripping with anger.
Aurelia took some tissues from her purse to wipe her dress, calmly saying, "I was standing here minding my own business. Lori, you lost your balance and spilled wine on me, knocking over my glass. How can you be the one to get angry and question me? Shouldn't you apologize first?"
All eyes were on them, waiting to see the drama unfold.
Aurelia had been out of the scene for four years. The only news people heard about her was that she had died in a car accident, and Nathaniel had remained faithful, rejecting all other women—a story that made many envious.
But now she was back, clearly the center of attention among the socialites and young men. Everyone was curious.
Seeing her in a confrontation with a hot-tempered actress, everyone wanted to see her embarrassed.
Even Madeline, waiting to cut the cake, noticed the commotion and asked, "What's going on over there?"
A servant replied, "A young lady's dress got stained."
"I thought it was something serious. Take her to clean up."
"Yes."
After speaking, Madeline noticed a familiar face in the crowd.
"Isn't that the Heilbronn family's daughter-in-law, the one who always lost money to me in poker?"
Madeline put down what she was holding and walked towards the crowd.
"Aurelia, it's you! Come with me."
Madeline didn't give her a chance to refuse, pulling Aurelia upstairs and leaving the crowd behind.
She had always liked this girl when they played cards at the Heilbronn Villa. She was beautiful and polite.
Madeline took her to her room, followed by her son Dominic.
"Aurelia, I'm really sorry. That dress doesn't look cheap. It seems like the stain won't come out."
Madeline then instructed her son, "Dominic, go find a dress for this young lady. She can't wear this one anymore."
Dominic was momentarily at a loss. "Mom, you're the only woman in our family. Where am I supposed to find a dress?"
It had to fit too. It was impossible to buy one now. This was a tough task!
"Stop talking nonsense. I know you have one hidden in your closet. Go get it."
Dominic's brow twitched. That dress had been his treasure for years. How could he just give it away?
"Mom..."
Madeline glared at him. "Stop talking and go get it!"
Dominic had no choice. It was Madeline's birthday, and he didn't dare to upset her. He had to comply and fetch the dress.
