Chapter 228 Go to Coral Bay and Find Her
At that time, Jacob and Dorothy were already in a sweet slumber.
Joe stood on the living room balcony, calling Aurelia.
Joe informed, "Aurelia, the kids are asleep. We plan to take them to the aquarium and the museum tomorrow, and then we'll fly back the day after."
The kids went to Imperick with their uncle, and Aurelia hadn't slept well for days, plagued by nightmares.
Aurelia asked anxiously, "Bro, you didn't run into anyone you shouldn't have, right?"
Joe paused for a moment and said, "We did, but he and the kids didn't see each other. I was very careful, so don't worry."
Hearing this, Aurelia felt a chill run down her spine. They actually ran into him in Imperick? In such a big city with millions of people, the odds were supposed to be slim, right?
Aurelia reminded him, "Bro, make sure to keep an eye on Jacob. That kid is full of mischief."
Speaking of Jacob, Joe also felt a bit troubled. He had a hunch that Jacob was hiding something from him, always sneaking around and playing alone in his room.
Joe replied, "Alright, I got it. Hit the hay early."
Aurelia hung up the phone and sneezed several times. What she didn't know was that Nathaniel, unable to find J, had gone straight to the suburban cemetery.
Right next to Brenda's grave was Aurelia's cenotaph.
Nathaniel had bought two bouquets on the way and placed one in front of each grave.
In the dead of night, he didn't feel scared at all, talking to the tombstone as if it were a person.
Nathaniel spoke in a somber tone, "Aurelia, that old man said you're in Coral Bay. Are you really in Coral Bay? Should I come find you?"
The cemetery was eerily quiet, with only his voice and the breathing of Zack and a few bodyguards that accompanied him hung in the air.
He squatted down and carefully wiped the photo on Aurelia's grave clean. After bowing a few times at Brenda's grave, he got up and walked back.
Zack and the bodyguards followed closely.
The car drove back to the city, and he dismissed the bodyguards, leaving only Zack.
Nathaniel instructed, "Book a flight for tomorrow. We're going to Coral Bay."
Zack, driving, hesitated before saying, "Mr. Heilbronn, you have an important meeting tomorrow morning and an appointment with Mr. Dubois from Newrun in the afternoon."
While postponing the meeting was an option, canceling the appointment with Mr. Dubois was not feasible. The collaboration between the two companies had been in the works for a long time and was finally nearing completion. Postponing it could result in an indefinite setback.
Nathaniel's voice was cold, "Cancel it!"
Zack silently thought that his colleagues involved in the project might not get their bonuses next month.
After dropping Nathaniel off at his residence, Zack booked a flight for early the next morning.
The next day, Zack appeared at the entrance of Nathaniel's neighborhood right on time.
Nathaniel came down with a suitcase, looking like he was planning to stay at Coral Bay for a while.
Zack was prepared and knew how to explain things to comfort his fiancée.
At ten in the morning, Nathaniel and Zack landed in Coral Bay and checked into the Platinum Peaks Retreat as usual.
This time, he decided to stay for an extended period in Coral Bay, determined to find Aurelia's grave and resolve the unresolved issue in his heart. No matter what, he needed to know her whereabouts, even if it was just a cold tombstone.
While he was in Coral Bay, he first had Zack contact all the cemetery managers in Coral Bay to check their systems and compile a list of all the cemeteries.
While Zack was busy, he went to a well-known real estate agency in Coral Bay. Considering his frequent visits, buying a house seemed more convenient than constantly searching for hotels.
Shortly after, Joe received a report from his assistant.
The assistant informed, "Mr. Semona, Nathaniel is looking to buy a house in Coral Bay. He's interested in our Clearwater Gardens riverfront property."
Joe was at the aquarium with the two kids, taking pictures of sharks. Hearing this, alarm bells went off in his head.
"Why is he buying a house in Coral Bay?" Joe asked, alarmed.
The assistant replied, "Not sure. I heard he postponed a lot of important work and took an early flight here. He must have something urgent."
Joe couldn't figure out what Nathaniel was up to. The Heilbronn Group's business and partners were all in the North; they had no operations in Coral Bay.
'Only someone planning to stay long-term will buy a house. What is Nathaniel planning?' Joe thought.
Joe instructed sternly, "Notify all our property managers. If Nathaniel tries to buy a house, tell him they're all sold out. Keep an eye on him and report any suspicious activity immediately."
The assistant replied, "Got it, Mr. Semona."
All the upscale communities in Coral Bay were developed by the Semona family. Nathaniel, with his status, wouldn't be interested in the lower-end developments by small developers.
Joe wouldn't give him a chance to settle in Coral Bay.
Joe hung up the phone and looked down at the two kids, feeling uneasy. He had a hunch that Nathaniel wasn't in Coral Bay for business but for Aurelia and the kids.
He wondered if Nathaniel had received a clue that may lead him to them.
At that moment, Dorothy was focused on filming the sharks with her little camera, aiming for the perfect shot to show her mommy.
Jacob had perked up his ears when he heard "Nathaniel" in his uncle's phone call, but the call had already ended.
He opened his smartwatch and checked the screen. The other party wasn't tracking his location anymore, probably fooled by his trick yesterday and no longer relied on the GPS to find him.
So dumb, he wondered what his mommy saw in Nathaniel.
Jacob felt relieved and finally dared to keep his smartwatch on.
In the afternoon, Joe took the kids to the museum. Then, in the evening, Dahlia packed their suitcase and toys in preparation for their trip.
Joe called the kids over.He spoke to them gently, "We're going home tomorrow. Did you have fun this time?"
Dorothy smiled with her eyes squinting.
She replied enthusiastically, "Yes, I had fun. I want to tell mommy all about it."
Jacob replied half-heartedly, "Yeah, it was fun."
His real purpose for coming was to find his dad, but he ended beingdisappointed. He did want a dad, but not one who had other women on his mind.
A philandering dad was worse than no dad at all.
Joe noticed the kid's reaction.
Joe asked affectionately, "Jacob, you don't look like you had fun. Is there something bothering you? You can tell me."
Jacob shook his head and said, "No, I'm just missing mommy."
Joe patted Jacob's little head and comforted, "Alright then, we'll fly back to see mommy tomorrow."
Nathaniel's sudden trip to Coral Bay left Joe feeling uneasy. He was eager to return as soon as possible.
Early the next morning, Joe boarded a flight back to Coral Bay with the kids and the nanny.
The first thing they did after landing in Coral Bay was to head to Anne Studio.
The kids had never been away from Aurelia for so long and missed her dearly. They chattered non-stop, wanting to show her photos and give her gifts, and insisted on bringing her along next time.
Aurelia had been too distracted to work all morning, she was just eagerly waiting for her kids to come back.
As soon as the kids entered, they rushed into Aurelia's arms, each giving her a kiss.
Dorothy said, "Mommy, did you miss me?"
Jacob said with pride, "Mommy, I was good and didn't cause trouble for uncle."
Aurelia hugged them tightly, finally feeling at ease.
Joe sat on the sofa in her office, waiting for the kids to finish their reunion before speaking with her discreetly, "Nathaniel is in Coral Bay."
Hearing that, Aurelia's body suddenly tensed up.
