Chapter 35 Norman Had Gone too Far

After a while, the call connected.
Before Chelsea could speak, Nathaniel said in a cold and detached manner.
"Chelsea, if you're here to plead for Norman, I suggest you’d better give up the attempt. It might strain the bond we've had for over a decade. Norman had gone too far, and my decision to withdraw my investment was already a generous one."
Chelsea felt her strength drain away as she lay on the hospital bed, unsure of what to say.
Clearly, Nathaniel hated others hitting Aurelia.
Suddenly, Chelsea felt that her effort was all in vain.
She realized that she was drifting further away from Nathaniel, perhaps not as important to him as she had imagined.
On the other end of the call, Nathaniel sat in the office with a cold look.
Zack had been eagerly awaiting Nathaniel's return to work, only to find Nathaniel in a foul mood. Zack tiptoed around, afraid of causing any further displeasure.
"Why is it always so difficult for you to track someone down? I have to reconsider whether the salary I offered you is appropriate," Nathaniel said in a frustrated voice.
Zack was taken aback and quickly replied, "Mr. Heilbronn, I believe Mrs. Heilbronn has someone protecting her. Every time her phone is unreachable, it's as if she vanishes without a trace, leaving no clue behind, and even the surveillance cameras can't catch her."
Nathaniel picked up his phone again, dialed Aurelia's number, and was told it was powered off.
"Find me detailed information on anyone in the country with the name Samuel," he ordered.
Zack felt a wave of relief and practically sprinted out of Nathaniel's office.
Nathaniel was certain that Aurelia had gone to find Samuel.
Nathaniel was determined to find out who this man, who lived in Aurelia's dreams, was. He wondered why Samuel had the power to enchant Aurelia, making her obsess over Samuel regardless of circumstance, both in dreams and waking hours.
Marcus took Aurelia to a luxurious hotel.
"Uncle Marcus, thank you for today. I’m fine alone. You can rest assured," she said.
Marcus expertly performed a perfect parallel parking.
"No rush. I can escort you to the hotel room first. I'm a VVIP at this hotel, and I have a suite here. You don't need to check in. You can tell them my phone number to get the room key," Marcus explained.
Aurelia hesitated, carefully considering Marcus's words.
'So he is offering me to stay in his suite?'
Aurelia was principled, and she felt that it was inappropriate.
As they approached the front desk, she suddenly stopped. "Uncle Marcus, I'll get a room for myself," she said.
Marcus chuckled softly.
"Okay."
He didn’t think much about it. The hotel rooms were cleaned every day, and the linens were changed.
Aurelia nodded and revealed a row of pearly white teeth.
She went to the front desk to get a room.
Once the room was ready, Marcus offered to leave.
"You go and rest. I have some things to take care of," Marcus said.
Aurelia politely smiled. With the help of a bellhop, she entered the elevator with her room key.
Aurelia took a bath when she came into the room, allowing herself to relax and unwind.
Amber had advised her to keep a positive mood. A happy mother would lead to the healthy development of the baby in her womb.
Aurelia tried to adjust her mood to make herself stronger.
In her heart, there was nothing more important than these two babies.
They would be her only family in this world, her current source of strength.
When she woke up, it was already evening.
Aurelia turned on her phone, and a flood of messages came in.
She read through them one by one.
The first was from Zack: [Mrs. Heilbronn, please call Mr. Heilbronn back as soon as you can. The lives of the Heilbronn Group employees depend on you today.]
Aurelia couldn't help but scoff. 'Nathaniel must be causing trouble at the company again.' She had received countless similar messages from Zack before, and she would always find ways to cheer him up.
But now, she decided to let it go.
It didn't feel good to be the one reaching out all the time.
Aurelia scrolled further back in her chat with Zack and saw a message from Ulysses:
[Aurelia, Norman's company is in crisis. Someone has exposed internal information, saying that it was a sudden withdrawal of investment by a big shot behind the scenes. I remember you mentioning that Nathaniel had invested a large sum of money in his company. Could it be that the big shot behind the scenes is Nathaniel?]
Aurelia opened the news link shared by Ulysses and saw people gathering at the Thompson Group gate. Netizens speculated about the commotion by leaving comments online.
She was about to reply to one of the comments when the phone rang. It was Norman calling.
As soon as the call connected, there was a muffled sound, followed by Norman's voice.
"Aurelia, I finally get through to you."
There seemed to be a group of people on the other end of the line. Subsequently, she heard Norman's exclamation of pain, followed by a harsh and menacing male voice commanding, "Say something!"
Norman said to Aurelia on the phone, "My dear daughter, I am wrong. I'm sorry." “Ouch,” cried Norman, accompanied by a crisp slap.
"Please, stop hitting me. I know I am wrong," Norman pleaded in pain.
The owner of the harsh male voice spoke again, "You should say that to Ms. Semona."
"Aurelia, I know I am wrong. I shouldn't have hit you. Please spare me. I'm old and can't bear this torment."
Aurelia was stunned for a moment. She hadn't even had a chance to speak, as if she had just witnessed a great drama. She was shocked, 'Norman has been kidnapped?'
"Norman, who is hitting you?" she asked in confusion.
Norman responded mournfully, "I’m your father. Is it too much for you to do this? We are bonded by blood. How can you torture me like this?"
After speaking, there was another sound of a slap, and another slap landed on Norman's face.
Norman cried out in pain, "I slapped you in the hospital, and now you send a group of people to hit me. You are usually gentle. I didn’t expect you to be so ruthless at all."
"I don't ask anyone to beat you, and I don't know about this. In addition, our father-daughter relationship ended three years ago. Please don't say I’m your daughter in front of me. Out of politeness, I can at most call you 'sir,' or we don't even need to greet each other when we meet on the street in the future."
Norman felt a jolt in his heart. 'You wish, but not now.'
"Forgive me this time, and put in a good word for me with Nathaniel. I'm begging you. I had no money to cover the salaries of the employees of the Thompson Group. Please help me this time. I'll do anything you ask."
Aurelia asked in disbelief, "Will you really agree to anything I ask?"
"Really, as long as you help the Thompson Group get through the difficult time, I'll agree to anything you say."
"Then listen carefully. I want 20% of the shares in your hands and also all of Helen's belongings."
Norman reacted as if he had heard a great joke. He snorted and asked, "What are you talking about? I can give you the broken pieces left by your mother, but you must be dreaming if you think I'll give you 20% of the shares."
"It's up to you. If you don't want to, no one can force you. But you have to solve the crisis yourself."
Aurelia hung up the phone.
If Norman really agreed to her conditions, she could talk with Nathaniel to stop that. Although she wasn't sure if she could make it, she could at least try.
If Norman didn't want to, then she could do nothing.
She planned to solve the grudges between her father and her in the future. She had her own plan.
On the other end of the phone, Norman received another slap on his right cheek.
Several burly men only slapped his right cheek. It had swollen up.
"Gentlemen, I implore you to refrain from striking me; I have already offered my apologies," Norman pleaded.
"Our boss instructed us to keep hitting you until Ms. Semona forgives you. I didn't hear Ms. Semona say she forgave you."
Norman wailed. "Who is your boss? Can I meet him?"
The man who hit Norman just now looked at his palm, which was a bit sore from the slapping this afternoon. He worked out regularly, and his palm had calluses, but even so, he could tell that his palm was redder than usual.
"Wait a moment. I'll make a call and ask."
Norman was tied to a chair and dared not speak. His right cheek had been slapped to the point of numbness.
After a while, the man returned with a phone in his hand.
"Our boss said he can meet you. Just wait a moment."
Can't win me back
