Chapter 72 Like a Date
Aurelia was uncomfortable being taken to a public place by him for the first time. Perhaps it was because he was too eye-catching, always the center of attention wherever they went.
Just standing near the entrance attracted countless glances.
The largest private room upstairs was empty, and a waiter had already brought water.
"Aurelia, see if there's anything you'd like to eat on the menu?"
Aurelia casually flipped through a few pages. She was in a good mood now and had a good appetite.
"I feel like eating everything."
Her answer surprised Nathaniel. Betty reported to Nathaniel before that she was worried about Aurelia because Aurelia was very picky recently.
Today, it was rare that she wanted to eat everything.
"Then, except for sour things, please serve one of each."
Nathaniel handed the menu back to the waiter.
Aurelia was shocked. The menu had at least dozens of dishes, and they could only finish some of them.
Even though they were rich, it was not good to waste food like this.
Moreover, she used to dislike sour foods, but now that she was pregnant, her taste had changed, and she only wanted sour things.
"Let's just pick a few. Ordering one of each is too much. We won't be able to finish it at all, and it will be wasted."
Nathaniel raised an eyebrow, indicating that it didn't matter to him. This small amount of money was insignificant to him. "You order; it's up to you."
Aurelia took back the menu and picked a few things she wanted to eat. Somehow, she had the illusion of being on a date with him as if they had just started a relationship.
After ordering, she remembered the trending topic on social media, so she quickly took out her phone to check. As he had said, the trending topic had been taken down.
At that moment, she felt relieved.
After a short wait, the waiter started serving the dishes.
Nathaniel left his seat to take a work call, and Aurelia sat there without touching her fork, waiting for him.
She rarely took photos when dining out, but at that moment, she wanted to capture the memory.
When all the dishes were served, she opened her phone's camera and took a picture of the table full of food, also capturing his back as he was on the phone. She zoomed in and out on the photo, looking at it countless times.
She had the idea of posting it on social media for the first time.
Thinking about it, she did it.
It was just a back view, unrecognizable to unfamiliar people.
After posting on social media, she repeatedly checked it with satisfaction, unaware that Nathaniel had finished his call and was standing behind her, watching her for a while.
"Are you taking a sneaky picture of me?" he asked.
Aurelia felt a bit guilty, as she had posted his picture on social media without his consent. She didn't know if he would be upset.
"It's just a back view. No one can tell it's you," she explained weakly, her eyes unusually gentle.
Nathaniel suddenly burst into laughter.
"Why do you look like I'm going to scold you? If you want to take a picture, take it properly. What's the point of a back view? Is your man not presentable?"
His words stirred Aurelia's heart, making her feel delighted.
"No. Don't you want to keep it private?"
They had been secretly married for three years, and she never dared to do anything out of line. Taking a picture of his back was already a luxury for her, and she had grown accustomed to their secretive relationship.
Now, she thought that their secret marriage was not bad, saving her from a lot of trouble. He was always the center of attention, and if they announced their marriage, she would become the enemy of all women in Imperick.
That would be terrible.
"Do you still want to take a picture?"
He asked as if willing to go along with her.
Aurelia shook her head.
"Let's eat quickly. The food is getting cold."
They finally sat down to eat. Aurelia was very hungry.
"Go ahead and start eating. You don't need to wait for me."
Aurelia quickly took a bite of her food, swallowed, and then said, "I want to be with you."
Nathaniel smirked, looking very pleased.
"You want to be with me so much, but you always seemed to be against me before."
In her haste, Aurelia blurted out her thoughts. "I thought you had a love child outside."
Nathaniel was speechless.
"Can't you use your brain a bit?"
Aurelia chuckled awkwardly and continued to enjoy the food.
"If I had a love child, would you leave me?"
Aurelia's hand hesitated while picking up food, almost revealing the fact that she was pregnant.
The atmosphere became awkward for a moment, and Nathaniel suddenly realized that his question was inappropriate, creating a dilemma for her.
Her reaction made him realize that it was a sensitive topic for her.
That was her bottom line.
Halfway through the meal, Oscar walked in. Seeing Aurelia, he hesitated for a moment, feeling somewhat uncomfortable.
He felt like he was exposed in front of this couple.
"You enjoy your meal. I have something to do."
He turned to leave.
Nathaniel and Oscar had been childhood friends, and Nathaniel understood Oscar's concerns.
"Come back, Aurelia won't gossip."
He voiced Oscar's concerns, and Oscar rubbed the back of his neck before sitting down.
Aurelia asked the waiter for a new set of tableware, turning their dinner for two into a dinner for three.
Oscar wasn't really hungry, just picking at the food casually.
"Aurelia, what does your friend do?"
Aurelia paused for a moment, realizing he was asking about Ulysses.
Before she could respond, Nathaniel spoke first, "You didn't like him before. Why are you asking about him now?"
Oscar was taken aback. "It's none of your business!"
‘What's the big deal? After a one-night stand, of course, I can ask.' Oscar thought.
Aurelia showed Oscar her phone and asked, "Should I call him over so we can have dinner together?"
Oscar panicked and wanted to escape. “Aurelia, spare me. Please don't call him."
It was too awkward.
Seeing his resistance, Aurelia put her phone away. She hadn't discussed what had happened with Ulysses yet. She didn't dare to meddle in their relationship casually. After all, Ulysses was quite picky.
"He's Ulysses, a fashion designer specializing in bespoke suits. If your company has any orders, you can visit his studio."
Oscar listened silently without saying a word. Aurelia continued with more details, "Ulysses, 28 years old, 6 feet tall, 165 pounds, graduated from the Imperick School of Fine Arts, lives in Unit 1201, Building 6, Azure Bay. His phone number is..."
"Stop."
Oscar couldn't bear it anymore. It seemed like she was reciting Ulysses' personal information, as if she was setting him up on a blind date.
"Aurelia, please stop."
Feeling the atmosphere turning awkward, Aurelia looked up to see Nathaniel staring at her with an unfriendly gaze. She wondered what she had said wrong.
"Aurelia, do you know how tall and heavy I am?"
Aurelia hesitated for a moment, sensing a strong jealousy in the air.
"You, 6 feet 2 inches tall, as for your weight..."
Nathaniel raised an eyebrow. "What's my weight?"
Aurelia nervously gestured with her fingers. She knew only about his standard model physique and how many abs he had, but she didn't know his weight.
"You've lost some weight recently, so I don't know."
Her brain raced to find an excuse.
Nathaniel wasn't someone who could be easily appeased.
"Aurelia, come with me!"
Aurelia looked at his serious face and sat still.
