Chapter 278 Mind Your Own Business

Patrick cleared his throat and kept pouring wine for Aurelia.

"Ma'am," Patrick said, "you should worry about your own son first. Aurelia's got both looks and talent. Why would she compete with other women for your son? Instead of wasting your breath here, you should hurry and find a woman for your son. If you wait any longer, even the blind and crippled ones will be taken."

Beatrice's lips turned white, and she almost couldn't stand. She said, "Ashley, let's go!"

Manager Davenport led them into the private room across the hall and brought  Ashley a new towel.

Ashley was still cursing and shouting about seeking revenge. After being splashed with two glasses of red wine, she realized that Aurelia had changed and was no longer easy to bully. Despite her own aggressive demeanor, she had no way to back it up.

At this moment, the guest Beatrice had arranged to meet arrived. It was Quinn, accompanied by her daughter Ruth Cohen.

Their families had business dealings, and Quinn was always flattering Beatrice in social circles, which made Beatrice take a closer look at the Cohen family.

This time, Beatrice wanted to check whether her daughter Ruth was suitable to marry into the Heilbronn family. If she were satisfactory, Beatrice would introduce her to Nathaniel.

Now, after being angered by Aurelia, she felt that suitability didn't matter anymore. As long as it wasn't Aurelia, anyone could be her daughter-in-law.

Moreover, she needed to quickly place a woman by Nathaniel's side to distract him from the rude Aurelia. As the president of the Heilbronn Group, it was unbecoming for him to constantly follow that woman around, who, coming from a humble background, didn't deserve her son's attention.

Quinn, being perceptive, instructed her daughter as soon as they entered the private room.

"Ruth, say hi to Mrs. Heilbronn. You might have a closer relationship in the future," Quinn said.

Ruth smiled, showing a small dimple. "Mrs. Heilbronn, I brought a gift for you. I hope you like it."

Ruth had heard that Quinn was bringing her to meet Nathaniel's mother, so she did her homework and bought a gift to please Beatrice. A handsome man like Nathaniel, at the top of the pyramid, was rare to find.

However, it was said that none of the many socialites who wanted to marry Nathaniel could catch Nathaniel's eye, not even getting his phone number.

She presented the gift box with both hands. Beatrice accepted it with a smile but couldn't help but sigh inwardly. The girl was sweet-looking and had fair skin, but she wasn't her son's type.

Her disappointing son liked seductive women, like Aurelia, whose eyes could captivate Nathaniel even when she wasn't smiling.

However, the anger she felt from the confrontation with Aurelia earlier was unbearable. She used to think Aurelia was just inconsiderate towards Ashley, but now she felt that Aurelia had no respect for her, even as a former mother-in-law.

The more Beatrice thought about it, the angrier she became.

She called Ashley over and whispered in her ear, "Ashley, call your brother and tell him that I fainted while eating out. Tell him to come immediately."

Ashley got the hint and quickly stepped out of the private room, dialing Nathaniel's number. "Nathaniel, Mom fainted. I'll send you the location. Come over quickly. I'm scared to be alone."

Nathaniel was in the middle of a meeting when he got the call. Hearing that Beatrice had fainted, he immediately left the room, leaving Zack to handle the rest.

Beatrice had complications from childbirth when she had Ashley, leaving her with health issues. Despite seeing many doctors, there was no solution, and she often felt dizzy, sometimes fainting.

Nathaniel opened the location Ashley sent and drove straight there. He didn't suspect a thing; he thought his mom had really fainted and had no idea this was all a setup for a blind date. At that moment, he was just a pawn in Beatrice's plan to rile up Aurelia.

Nathaniel handed his car to the valet and rushed upstairs, finding the private room where they were. Seeing Beatrice sitting there perfectly fine eased his tension.

Nathaniel asked, "Mom, are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital for a check-up?"Beatrice pretended to rub her temples. "No need for that trouble. I should be fine after a while. Come and sit down."

She pointed to the empty seat beside her, signaling Nathaniel to sit. He pulled out a chair and glanced at the unfamiliar woman on the other side. Then he pulled Ashley over to sit down and took the seat next to Beatrice.

"Nathaniel, let me introduce you. This is Ruth from the Cohen family. Since you are all young, you can have a chat together," Beatrice said.

Ruth greeted proactively, "Nathaniel, I heard your new season's collection is out. Can I take a look?"

Nathaniel's eyes grew deep and cold, making people fearful. "No," he said.

Ruth felt a moment of awkwardness. Beatrice quickly intervened, "You have such a bad temper. How can you talk to a girl like that? You need to change!"

Ignoring everyone, Nathaniel continued to look at messages in his Facebook group, occasionally replying. He had left a room full of people in the meeting, feeling frustrated.

Ruth pursed her lips, "It's okay. I understand that Nathaniel is busy with work."

Beatrice nudged her inattentive son with her elbow. "Did you hear that? Ruth is so understanding. You should find a girlfriend who is considerate. What kind of good girl can come from a humble background? No sense of propriety, just good at seducing men."

Beatrice's sarcastic remarks made it hard for Nathaniel to focus on his messages. He didn't know that Beatrice had met Aurelia and had a conflict. But her words made him very irritated.

"Mom, don't worry about me. You should focus on Ashley," he said.

Beatrice, still fuming from her encounter with Aurelia, felt even more frustrated hearing her son's words. "How can I not worry about you? Are you planning to stay single forever? Are you so hung up on that woman? Look at all these girls, aren't they better than her?" she said.

Nathaniel stood up, furious. "Mom, I'm telling you, don't interfere in my affairs anymore. I left a lot of work to come see you, not to hear your harsh words. Besides, Aurelia is excellent!"

He walked out with his phone. Just as he left the private room, Zack's call came in.

Can't win me back
