Chapter 292 Torture

Nathaniel's eyes landed on the suit jacket hanging over the chair. He frowned, grabbed it, and tossed it to Zack before plopping down next to Aurelia.

"So, Aurelia, you into sports?" Nathaniel asked.

Aurelia barely looked up from her phone and just nodded slightly.

Nathaniel shot a mocking glance at the two guys engrossed in their game. They didn't even notice.

"Did you come with Marcus?" he pressed.

Aurelia shook her head, still not looking up. "No."

That made Nathaniel feel a bit better, but then she added, "I came with Patrick."

Nathaniel's jealousy flared up. "Aurelia, do you even know what kind of guy Patrick is? He's had like a dozen ex-girlfriends. You'll regret getting close to that player."

Nathaniel had done his homework on Patrick. Sure, the guy had a past, but it wasn't as bad as Nathaniel made it sound.

"Why does it matter?" Aurelia asked, not even bothering to look at him.

That hit Nathaniel hard. Did she really not care about Patrick's sketchy history?

Nathaniel coughed, his arm itching like crazy from the rash.

Zack scratched his head. "Mr. Heilbronn, it's time for your meds."

Nathaniel crossed his legs and said, "No rush."

He had bigger things on his mind. But the itch on his chest was getting worse, driving him nuts.

Zack looked worried. "Mr. Heilbronn, Dr. Carter said these three days are crucial. You need to take your meds on time, or it'll mess up your work."

Zack started pulling stuff out of the nanny bag: a thermos, a medicine bottle, and a blanket. It was like taking care of an old man!

It was weird seeing Nathaniel, usually so full of energy, being taken care of like this. Even a thermos was involved.

Zack handed him two pills and opened the thermos. "Mr. Heilbronn, at least take these."

Nathaniel didn't argue, swallowing the pills and washing them down with the thermos. Then he rolled up his sleeve and started scratching again.

Aurelia chuckled as she watched him squirm and scratch, wondering why the rash wasn't on his face. If it had been, he likely wouldn't have left the house.

Gabriel came back from a phone call and saw more people had joined. He noticed Zack first and thought, ' Isn't that Nathaniel's assistant? What's he doing here?' Then he saw Nathaniel chatting with Aurelia.

The kicker was that Aurelia was glued to her phone while Nathaniel was trying hard to make conversation, looking desperate to impress her. It was shocking.

Lately, there were all sorts of rumors about Nathaniel. He'd sent a model who tried to seduce him from the runway to selling clothes in a live stream, a ruthless move that scared off all the women at Imperick.

Since then, no woman dared to make a move on him.

But here he was, the guy who usually treated women like they were invisible, trying to win over Aurelia.

Gabriel thought back to his partnership with Norman years ago. Best decision ever. Without it, he wouldn't be rubbing shoulders with these big shots today, let alone meeting Aurelia.

With a fake smile, Gabriel said, "Mr. Heilbronn, what brings you here?"

Nathaniel barely looked up, forcing a smile as a greeting.

Gabriel, eager to impress, quickly mentioned his business with Aurelia. "Mr. Heilbronn, I've been working with Ms. Semona's company for a while. First time meeting her, though. Didn't know you two were friends. Small world, huh?"

Nathaniel gave him a bit more attention. "You working with her? Got a business card?"

"Sure do!" Gabriel said, pulling out a card and handing it over with both hands.

Nathaniel didn't think much of it, assuming Gabriel was talking about Aurelia's new jewelry company. Without even glancing at the card, he passed it to Zack.

His body was itching like crazy—not just his arms, but his shoulders, neck, back, stomach, and legs too. It was torture.

The most difficult part was having to maintain a façade in front of Aurelia. Caleb had once said he was a guy who'd been married too many times, and not only had his looks gone downhill after thirty, but he also had an "old man's smell."

He didn't know what that was, but it couldn't be good. He had to make sure Aurelia didn't find him gross.

He knew she was into looks, and that's what had drawn her to him in the first place.

He never used to care about his appearance. His role model was Reed. He believed that excelling in a particular field, like his grandfather, was enough for a man, and he had achieved that.

But since meeting Aurelia, he started caring about his looks, even sending Zack to buy a set of high-end men's skincare products.

Using all those bottles and jars was a pain, but knowing they could help him keep up his looks, he stuck to a skincare routine, trying to stay the way she liked.

Seeing him suffer, Aurelia felt a bit sorry for him. "Mr. Heilbronn, you should really apply the medication. If it gets worse, it'll just be more trouble for Zack."

Nathaniel raised an eyebrow and said to Zack, "The new project at Coral Bay is doing well. I'll give you a ten percent bonus next quarter."

Zack was secretly thrilled. He had managed that project, and Nathaniel had invested a lot in it. A ten percent bonus for a quarter was enough to buy a decent house in Imperick.

This way, he could buy a house for his parents too.

Aurelia was truly his lucky star!

"Mrs. Heilbronn, I'm not tired. But Mr. Heilbronn really needs to apply the medication. Please help persuade him."

Nathaniel unscrewed the thermos, took a sip, and then leaned back in the chair, looking pretty miserable.
