Chapter 548 Imperick's Highly Matched Blood Sample
The production team worked efficiently, delivering the finished piece to Aurelia within two days. She examined it meticulously, checking every detail before placing it in an elegant gift box.
During her lunch break, Aurelia called Dominic. "The necklace for Mrs. Sawyer is ready. When would be convenient for you? I can bring it over."
Dominic's face lit up with satisfaction as he gripped the phone. "I'm free anytime—how about today?"
There was a pause on the other end. "I have a meeting tonight that I can't miss."
Dominic pinched the bridge of his nose, annoyed with himself for being too eager and only considering his own schedule. "Whenever works for you, just let me know."
"How about this Saturday?"
"Perfect. I'll send a car to pick you up—and bring the children along."
After hanging up, Dominic flipped through his desk calendar. His schedule was packed with appointments from his business trip—he certainly wasn't here for leisure.
Saturday aside, he had an important business dinner tonight. He tapped his forehead, wondering how thoughts of Aurelia could make him forget everything else so completely.
He looked up at his assistant. "Cancel Saturday's golf with Mr. Gonzalez. Tell him I'm not feeling well."
His assistant looked puzzled. "Mr. Sawyer, we're not meeting Mr. Gonzalez just for golf—we're supposed to sign the contract."
The assistant wondered silently, 'Canceling golf is one thing, but what about the contract?'
"We'll reschedule the contract. There will be other opportunities." Dominic waved dismissively.
The assistant obediently went to handle the arrangements.
Aurelia's mind had been remarkably clear lately, brimming with creative ideas and bursting with inspiration. She worked like a tireless design machine, producing sketches at a rate that far exceeded anyone else's productivity.
Thursday arrived quickly—the day of Jacob and Dorothy's school sports day. Fearing the children might be upset, Aurelia gently consoled them at home. "Your daddy isn't staying away on purpose—he's sick right now. When he comes back, he won't miss a single sports day."
The children said they understood, though disappointment lingered in their eyes.
As usual, Joe and Aurelia attended the event together. Since Aurelia couldn't participate in strenuous activities due to her pregnancy, Joe shouldered most of the responsibility. Fortunately, he rose to the occasion and even won first place in the family competition.
Jacob and Dorothy clapped excitedly as they received their trophy, when Joe's phone rang. He answered in front of Aurelia and the children, his expression growing serious after just a few words.
Hanging up, Joe spoke with gravity. "Aurelia, this is good news."
Aurelia waited expectantly.
"The hospital in Imperick found someone whose blood sample shows high compatibility with Burry."
Aurelia asked urgently, "Who is it? Are they willing to donate bone marrow?"
Joe paused thoughtfully. "The sample information is confidential. I'm flying to Imperick immediately to see if I can track down their identity. If they're willing to cooperate for comprehensive compatibility testing with Burry, we can offer them anything—property, money, whatever they need."
The Semona family had no shortage of either houses or money. Joe spoke with such confidence that it seemed victory was within reach, though blood type compatibility was only preliminary—they needed full matching confirmation. If this person proved completely compatible with Burry, they could save Burry's life.
Aurelia exclaimed with delight, "That's wonderful news! Go quickly."
Joe immediately called his assistant to arrange a private jet to Imperick—he couldn't wait for commercial flights.
That evening, Aurelia visited the hospital to share the good news with Burry, and hope rekindled in her pallid face.
Joe had been gone for two days without definitive news when Saturday arrived.
Remembering her appointment with Dominic, Aurelia got the children ready that morning. Dominic's driver called. "Ms. Semona, I'm downstairs. You can come down now."
Aurelia took Jacob and Dorothy downstairs and settled into Dominic's car. Her sharp eyes caught sight of a lucky charm hanging inside—it looked well-worn, its red cord faded from years of sun exposure yet kept meticulously clean.
Aurelia's gaze fixed on the knot of the red cord, finding it strangely familiar. As a child, she'd often watched Brenda do handicrafts—Brenda was so skilled that two red cords could become anything in her hands. The wind chimes Aurelia still made were learned from Brenda in childhood, though she'd always regretted learning only that one craft when Brenda knew so many others.
She stared at the lucky charm, lost in thought.
The car soon entered an upscale residential area, and Aurelia realized Dominic was hosting dinner at his home. She'd assumed they'd meet at a restaurant—going to someone's house suggested a closer relationship than their few brief encounters warranted.
Though Nathaniel frequently visited the Sawyer family and maintained excellent relations with them, she suspected Dominic's invitation was largely due to Nathaniel's connection.
The car stopped in an underground garage, and the driver led them upstairs.
When the elevator doors opened, Phoenix stood there with disheveled hair, phone in hand, mid-game. Several pairs of new slippers lay scattered on the floor—he'd been stationed there on orders.
Dominic had dragged him from bed early that morning, demanding he buy women's slippers and two pairs for children. Too lazy to go out, Phoenix had simply ordered them online.
Halfway through his game, Dominic had grown impatient, literally kicking him off the sofa and posting him at the door to greet their guests. Phoenix wondered what kind of VIP warranted such treatment—even he and the family dog had been recruited for welcoming duties.
Seeing Aurelia emerge from the elevator, he froze in complete surprise. Dominic's honored guest was his idol, Aurelia!
He frantically ran his hands through his hair, thinking if he'd known earlier, he could have woken up two hours early to style it properly—or at least wash it and use some gel.
Phoenix stood stunned for a long moment. "Aurelia, it's you."
Dominic rushed out from the kitchen, spatula in hand, having heard voices. "Aurelia! You brought the children! Come in, come in quickly."
He kicked Phoenix lightly. "Go cut a fruit platter—what are you standing around for?"
"Right!" Phoenix snapped back to reality, thinking he should change clothes and wash his hair, but not daring to disobey Dominic's orders, he headed to the kitchen to prepare fruit.
Aurelia felt somewhat uncomfortable, not having expected a home invitation. Had she known, she would have brought fruit or gifts as proper etiquette for visiting an elder's home.
