Chapter 366 She Manages My Money

Few people could ask to borrow money so openly. Nathaniel got out of the car, leaned against it, and looked at Oscar with a hint of amusement.

"Where's your supercar? Just sell one of the cars in your garage. You can't afford the gas anyway!"

Oscar felt a pang of sadness. He never thought he'd worry about money one day. He had no concept of how much was a lot; he just never lacked it.

Who would have thought that Oscar, born into a wealthy family, would one day be unable to afford gas? The cars in his garage were his most cherished possessions; selling them would be like taking his life.

Nathaniel knew he couldn't bear to sell them, which was why he said it on purpose.

"Cut the crap. I'm in trouble now, and instead of helping, you're mocking me. Have you forgotten who pulled you out of the grave and fed you four years ago? Without us, would you have reunited with Aurelia today? You'd have starved to death in the cemetery."

Oscar said this purely to stir up the little conscience Nathaniel had left, but Aurelia felt a pang of discomfort hearing it.

At this moment, Ulysses walked in from outside, carrying a box of fried chicken and a cup of Coke. Oscar got up to greet him, took the box of fried chicken, dipped a piece in sweet chili sauce, and stuffed it into his mouth. While Oscar was eating the chicken, Ulysses inserted a straw into the Coke and handed it to his other hand.

Nathaniel watched for a while, holding back his laughter. "Looks like you're living pretty well now, being fed and all. Many people would envy that life. What's the point of needing money?"

Oscar choked and cursed, "You're just making excuses not to lend me money, aren't you? Ungrateful bastard, our thirty-year friendship ends today."

Nathaniel glanced at Aurelia, raising his eyebrows. "You see, I have a family to support now. The money I earn isn't just for me. Whether I can lend you money, you have to ask Aurelia. She manages my money."

Aurelia, suddenly mentioned, looked at him in a daze.

Oscar chuckled. Nathaniel's words were clearly meant to show off.

"Now you want to show off Aurelia in front of me? Have you forgotten how you lived a few years ago? People need to learn to be cautious in times of peace. Be careful, or Aurelia might dump you in a few days. Don't come crying to me then; I won't care if you starve to death."

After scolding, Oscar turned to Aurelia with a smile, "Aurelia, can you lend me some money?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Ulysses flicked Oscar on the forehead. "Isn't the card with you? What money are you borrowing?"

Oscar continued eating his fried chicken, thinking that spending someone else's money didn't hurt. Now that his father had locked his card, and after spending Ulysses' money, neither of them would have any left. What would they do then?

Aurelia opened Facebook and started a chat with Oscar.

She asked, "Oscar, how much do you need? I'll transfer it directly."

She added, "It's a personal loan from me, nothing to do with him."

It was obvious who "him" referred to.

Oscar was deeply grateful. "Aurelia, you're so understanding. But isn't this a bit inappropriate?"

Oscar didn't mention a specific amount, feeling a bit embarrassed. Ulysses ruffled his messy hair. "You know it's inappropriate? Borrowing money recklessly!"

Aurelia transferred a significant amount of money to him. They were all familiar with each other, and aside from Oscar and Nathaniel's friendship, Oscar had always been protective of her during her early years of marriage to Nathaniel. Aurelia always considered him a friend.

Oscar was stunned by the transfer. He didn't expect Aurelia to be so generous. This amount could sustain his lavish lifestyle for a while. She was much more generous than his stingy friend Nathaniel.

Oscar took a big sip of Coke to help swallow the chicken and sent a heart emoji with a cat on Facebook, giving Nathaniel a disdainful look.

"Aurelia, I'll pay you back as soon as I get my payment next month."

Aurelia smiled lightly. "No rush."

Ulysses invited everyone inside. Shortly after, Amber arrived with two bottles of red wine. Ulysses had messaged their small group about a weekend gathering, and she finally had some free time, so she had to come.

Amber was surprised to see so many people. She wasn't surprised to see Oscar, as she knew all about Ulysses and Oscar's situation.

But that CEO Nathaniel...

Amber pulled Aurelia to a corner and whispered, "What's going on? Did you remarry?"

Aurelia shook her head. "Not yet."

Amber was shocked. "What do you mean 'not yet'? Are you planning to?"

"I promised him I'd seriously consider it. I haven't made up my mind yet."

Amber looked her up and down. "From what I see, you've probably already considered it. But no matter what, I advise you not to agree so easily. Even if you plan to remarry, make him work for it. Men never cherish what they don't have to work for. You were too compliant before."

Aurelia smiled. "You're right. I should learn from you in this regard. But why didn't your husband come?"

Amber sighed. "Their law firm recently took on a big case. He's been so busy he hasn't been home for days. I'm already mad at him. How can he neglect his wife and kids like that?"

Amber's words were filled with frustration, and Aurelia quickly picked up on the key point. She looked down at Amber's flat stomach and whispered, "Are you pregnant?"

Amber blushed. "I just found out last week. It's not even two months yet."

Aurelia glared at her. "Then why did you bring wine? Can you even drink?"

"You guys drink, and I'll have water."

"Take care of yourself. Especially when he's not home, you need to look after yourself."

Amber chuckled. "Don't worry. I'm a doctor, remember?"

As they spoke, Amber noticed Jacob and Dorothy digging in the dirt on the balcony, her maternal instincts kicking in. Pregnant women tended to be more emotional, and she couldn't help but watch the kids.

Amber had only seen the two kids in videos; this was her first time seeing them in person.

With no one watching, the two little ones had already made a mess of Ulysses' balcony, digging up the soil from the flower pots and sticking broken flower stems into the dirt.

Aurelia felt her blood pressure rising. "Jacob, Dorothy, what are you doing?"

The two kids felt a chill down their spines at their mom's angry shout.

Dorothy said, "Mommy, I'm helping Godfather plant flowers."

Jacob added, "Mommy, Dorothy couldn't dig the soil, so I'm helping her."

Seeing the mess, Aurelia felt exasperated. She frowned and walked over.

Can't win me back
