Chapter 424 Control Yourself, This Is the Office

Nathaniel, still unwilling to give up asserting his dominance, picked up the glass in front of him and poured some wine.

"Thank you for introducing celebrities to Aurelia. It's not easy for an old classmate to go this far, especially an elementary school classmate. Many people, once they have money, don't even remember their classmates' names. But you enthusiastically help a classmate's girlfriend with promotion. I appreciate this kindness. If you need my help in the future, I won't refuse."

Nathaniel's long speech left Aurelia stunned.

Caleb, on the other hand, was used to it. It wasn't his first day knowing the scheming Nathaniel.

"Mr. Heilbronn, you're too kind. Let me clarify, I'm not doing this because of our old friendship. I genuinely want to help a friend. A few years ago, when I first came to Coral Bay, Aurelia helped me a lot. We're business partners, and mutual assistance is inevitable. You don't need to feel pressured."

Aurelia tried hard to recall how she had helped Caleb. It seemed like she hadn't.

By the end of the meal, all three had used a lot of brainpower. It was a battle of wits, where any misstep could be fatal.

As they left The Velvet Palate, Nathaniel checked his watch and asked Aurelia, "What's your plan for the afternoon?"

Aurelia had a lot of work to do and answered honestly, "I have a video conference, and I need to review some drafts submitted by the company's designers. Plus, I have my own designs to work on..."

The more she counted, the more work there seemed to be.

Nathaniel also had things to do in the afternoon. His newly rented office was set up, and all the office supplies were purchased. But without employees, it wouldn't work. It was a crucial time for hiring, with many details to handle carefully.

He said, "I'll head back to the company first. Call me if you need anything."

At the intersection, the three split into two groups. While waiting for the light to change, Nathaniel saw Caleb standing next to Aurelia and felt uncomfortable. "Caleb, what's your plan for the afternoon?"

Caleb chuckled dryly, "Mr. Heilbronn, are you planning to have someone else pester me?"

He hadn't forgotten Nathaniel's strange antics.

Nathaniel showed no embarrassment at being called out, instead, he looked justified, "If you need it, it's not impossible."

"No need, thanks. I have someone I like."

As the light turned green, Nathaniel suddenly didn't want to leave after hearing Caleb's last sentence. He turned around and walked back to them.

"I'll take you back to the company first." He was genuinely worried.

The two groups merged back into one.

Even when they reached the Karma Jewelry office building, they were still a trio. Nathaniel was puzzled, "Caleb, are you coming up too?"

Caleb, with his hands in his pockets, didn't see anything wrong with it, "My suitcase is in Aurelia's office."

Nathaniel suppressed his displeasure, "No need to trouble you. I'll have the assistant bring it down."

"It's fine. I'm free this afternoon, so I won't take up Aurelia's assistant's time. It's not easy being a worker."

So the three of them entered the elevator together.

Anyone could sense the strange atmosphere among the three. The other two people in the elevator moved to the side, giving them the most space.

Caleb indeed had no reason to stay in Aurelia's office. She had work to do, and it would be boring for him to stay. After going upstairs, he took his suitcase and left. Aurelia asked Aurora to see him to the elevator.

Nathaniel sat in Aurelia's office chair, loosening his tie.

Finally sending Caleb off made the air feel fresher to him.

Aurelia poured him a glass of water, "Mr. Heilbronn, have some water to calm down?"

Nathaniel was indeed a bit angry. He reached out and pulled her by the waist, naturally bringing her into his lap. "Don't get too close to him!"

Aurelia responded, "Mr. Heilbronn, are you jealous?"

Nathaniel didn't want to admit it, but he was indeed jealous. "Of course I'm jealous. You need to give me some benefits, or I'll feel bad all day."

His hand mischievously pinched the soft flesh on her waist, his tone carrying a hint of whining.

Aurelia remembered the awkward moment when Aurora saw them last time and tried to jump off his lap. But as soon as she had the thought, his hand tightened around her waist.

"Aurelia, don't go away."

Aurelia cleared her throat, "Control yourself, this is the office."

Nathaniel, relentless, started to act spoiled, "I don't care. My heart is deeply wounded. If you don't comfort me, I won't feel better today."

Aurelia had no choice but to indulge him.

She cupped his face and pecked his thin lips, "Is that enough, Mr. Heilbronn? We both have work to do this afternoon. If my assistant sees us again, it'll be so embarrassing!"

Nathaniel rested his chin on her shoulder, closing his eyes to calm down, "Promise me, besides work, don't contact him alone. You can only talk about work in messages and calls. No private meals, no accepting his gifts."

He vented all his grievances in one breath.

Aurelia agreed, "Okay! No contact, no talking about anything other than work, no accepting his gifts, no private meals!"

Nathaniel felt a bit better, "How about dinner tonight?"

Aurelia checked the work schedule Aurora sent, "Okay, I'll wait for you. So, are you still jealous, boyfriend?"

"A little."

Aurelia remained silent.

Nathaniel lifted his chin from her shoulder, cupping the back of her head as he kissed her passionately.

They only pulled away when they both felt breathless and realized they needed to control themselves.

Nathaniel's phone rang on the desk. It was Zack, probably informing him that the business partner had arrived.

Nathaniel replied, "Tell him to wait a bit. I'm heading back now."

Nathaniel stood up, covering the phone's mouthpiece, and said to Aurelia, "Wait for my call tonight."

Then he left, continuing his phone conversation.

Aurelia, in broad daylight, was left a bit dazed by his teasing, her cheeks burning hot.

After Nathaniel left, Aurora knocked and entered, "Anna, here are some questions from the media. You can prepare in advance to avoid being nervous."

Aurelia picked up the printed paper Aurora handed over. It listed about twenty questions. She glanced through them and noticed Aurora still standing there, "Is there anything else?"

Aurora hesitated, feeling a bit awkward, "Anna, your lipstick is smudged."

Aurelia frowned, having forgotten about that. She opened a drawer, took out a small mirror, and saw her lipstick was indeed smudged. It was clear what had just happened.

She pretended nothing was wrong and took a tissue from the desk to fix it.

Aurora coughed again and asked in a low voice, "Anna, when Mr. Heilbronn left, I noticed his lips were a bit red. Should you remind him?"

Aurelia glared at Aurora, who quickly fled the office in fear.

Aurelia had no secrets from this assistant.
