Chapter 305 Mistaken Identity

The stylist, unlike Lori, was super chill.

"Ms. Semona, take a seat. Let's chat about the details."

Aurelia plopped down comfortably. Since she was already here, she figured she might as well go with the flow. If she was going to be Caleb's date for the banquet, she needed to look top-notch. Otherwise, how was she supposed to show off any jewelry? She might as well stay home with the kids.

After getting a sense of Aurelia's usual style, the stylist started working her magic on her face.

While she was getting her makeup done, a whole rack of dresses was wheeled in by an assistant, showcasing a variety of styles for her to pick from.

Seeing the lineup of dresses in the mirror, Aurelia thought, 'This is way too much. If I had known, I wouldn't have come with Caleb.'

She felt like a Hollywood star, especially with Caleb's secretary popping in now and then to bring her water and snacks. The VIP treatment was a bit overwhelming.

Once her makeup and hair were done, it was time to pick a dress.

Caleb had mentioned finding a dress on set, but that was clearly just a ploy to get her here. Aurelia immediately recognized the dresses as high-end custom designs by Ivy.

In the fitting room, looking at the understated yet luxurious logo on the lining, Aurelia thought, "I'll pay Caleb back once this is over. I hate owing people."

After trying on all the dresses, everyone agreed that the black backless dress was the best match for her makeup today.

Convinced by the crowd, Aurelia put on the dress. The last time she wore a black dress was when she bought one from Marcus's store. This dress was even more daring, perfectly showing off her back. The stylist had also intensified her eye makeup, making her look stunningly seductive and incredibly sexy.

Aurelia barely recognized herself.

That evening, Aurelia arrived at the banquet with Caleb.

Caleb first introduced her to a few celebrities from his company. Aurelia wasn't a fan, but one of them was Amber's idol, so she got an autograph for Amber.

Just as the autograph was signed, Caleb waved to greet an old classmate. As they started reminiscing about elementary school, Aurelia felt a bit uneasy. She knew Caleb and Nathaniel were elementary school classmates, so this person was likely a classmate of Nathaniel's too.

Given the scandal from four years ago, Aurelia wasn't sure if this person recognized her, but it was better to be cautious. Gossip spreads fast, and who knows what version of the story would come out in the end.

Aurelia had gotten used to deliberately avoiding Nathaniel's social circle over the years.

With a slight smile, Aurelia said, "You guys chat. I'm going to get a drink."

Aurelia headed to the bar to grab a drink, but before she could take a sip, a voice behind her caught her attention.

"Burry, is that you?"

Aurelia turned around to see a foreigner speaking in broken English.

"Great, it really is you!"

Aurelia looked around. There was no one else nearby, so it was clear this person was talking to her.

"Sir, you must be mistaken. I'm not Burry."

The foreigner seemed quite emotional.

"No, you are. Don't you remember? A few years ago, you and Marcus went abroad, and I booked your hotel and acted as your guide! How could you not recognize me? I'll call Marcus right now. He's been miserable since you disappeared."

Aurelia felt a chill run down her spine. This guy's words were eerily similar to Marcus's. She couldn't believe how much she must look like this Burry woman for even acquaintances to mistake her.

"Sir, I might look a bit like your friend, but I'm really not her."

"No, you are!"

The foreigner, now super emotional, dialed Marcus's number and started talking excitedly as soon as the call connected.

Having worked at Swan Company for years, Aurelia could understand the foreigner's jumbled words. He was going on about the miraculous encounter at the charity banquet and claiming that Burry had amnesia, urging Marcus to come quickly and take her back.

Aurelia decided to leave, but Caleb walked over and asked, "Aurelia, what's going on?"

"This gentleman mistook me for a friend of his."

Caleb laughed and said, "How could that be? You have a very distinctive look. Come on, let me introduce you to some influential celebrities to promote your brand. Get familiar with them, and later you can tell me who you'd like as a spokesperson."

"Sure."

Aurelia didn't want to get caught up in this. For one, she was a bit afraid of Marcus, and being mistaken for someone else was not a pleasant experience.

Caleb grabbed a glass of red wine, and the two of them left the area.

The foreigner was still on the phone, his eyes following Aurelia as she moved.

Aurelia and Caleb walked to the dessert area. Suddenly, there was a commotion at the entrance, and a path was quickly cleared, as if someone important had arrived.

All eyes turned towards it.

Aurelia and Caleb also stopped to look, curious about who had arrived.

Once the crowd quieted down, a scream erupted.

"It's Lori! Lori is here!"

Many of the socialites present were Lori's fans and eagerly pushed to the front to get a closer look at their idol.

Someone in the crowd shouted, "Lori, can I get an autographed photo?"

"Lori, when is your new show coming out? I've been waiting forever!"

"Lori, may I shake your hand?"

All of a sudden, the charity banquet had turned into a Lori fan meeting.

Lori, however, ignored everyone, maintaining a cold demeanor as she walked straight ahead. She only stopped when she saw Caleb.

Lori said, "Mr. Sinclair, have you changed your date?"

Lori gave Aurelia a scrutinizing look, which was quite intimidating.

Caleb raised an eyebrow and said, "When have I ever had a date?"

Lori seemed to sense there was more to the story.

"True, Mr. Sinclair is known for not being exclusive. But I'm the same. I only want one man as my date, and I was lucky enough to get one today."

Caleb teased, "Be careful of the rumors. It might affect your career."

Lori's tone softened, but her expression remained defiant, even in front of her boss.

"Mr. Sinclair, please. Actors have emotions and personal lives too. You can't expect me to stay single just because I'm in this industry, can you?"

Caleb said, "Just make sure to maintain proper boundaries."

Lori lightly pursed her red lips and said, "Mr. Sinclair, I'm serious. At this age, I can't afford to play around anymore. All the good men will be taken."

Then she turned to Aurelia and asked, "Don't you agree, Ms. Semona?"

Aurelia was taken aback. She remembered that Caleb hadn't introduced her by name, yet Lori addressed her as Ms. Semona. A sense of unease washed over her.

She sensed that this woman had ill intentions.
