Chapter 174 She Can't Be Bullied Like This

"Aurelia, those two crazy women dug up your mom's grave," Timothy blurted out, then quickly added, "Don't worry. The cemetery staff is fixing it."

Aurelia's phone slipped from her hand. She didn't hear the rest; her mind went blank.

Furious, she wanted to strangle Chelsea and Maria and drag them to Brenda's grave to make them pay. But she knew she couldn't break the law.

There was no solid proof about Brenda's car accident, but someone saw Chelsea and Maria desecrate her mom's grave, and Aurelia couldn't stand it.

Only those who knew you well could hurt you the most. Chelsea and Maria knew Brenda meant everything to Aurelia. Even though Brenda was gone, they used her grave to torment Aurelia.

Aurelia didn't care about the danger outside; she was consumed by thoughts of Brenda's grave being defiled, and her heart felt like it was being stabbed a thousand times.

Now, her priority was fixing her mom's grave.

Aurelia rushed out in her pajamas, flagged down a taxi, and headed straight to the cemetery on the outskirts of town.

Brenda's grave was in a prime spot, far from the entrance. As night fell, Aurelia walked through the cemetery, feeling no fear. Her only thought was to protect her mom.

When Brenda died, Aurelia was too young to be there. It was her biggest regret. Now, as an adult, she wouldn't let anyone disrespect Brenda. Aurelia had to stand up for her. Despite stumbling, her mind was clear.

At Brenda's grave, she saw the headstone defaced with "whore" and "adulteress" in red paint.

Aurelia couldn't hold back her tears. She tore a piece of her clothes to wipe away the words, but they wouldn't come off. The paint had dried.

She saw fresh soil on the grave, with red paint traces not fully covered. She felt like she was losing her mind, trying to clean the traces, but it wouldn't come off.

Brenda had been a very dignified person in life, unable to tolerate even a speck of dust or dirt on her clothes. Now, her grave was splattered with paint.

Thinking of this, Aurelia didn't know how Brenda would collapse in another world, nor how the vicious Chelsea and Maria had arrogantly done these evil deeds in front of Brenda's grave. It must have been the ultimate insult to Brenda.

The cemetery was dark, with only her sobs echoing. "Mom, I'm sorry. It's my fault." Aurelia, usually scared of the dark, didn't think about her fears. She was in so much pain she could hardly breathe.

The sky was overcast, with no stars. Light rain began to fall. Aurelia was covered in mud and water, unable to clean the dirt off Brenda's grave.

Finally, someone noticed. Two security guards with flashlights found Aurelia fainting at the grave, soaked, holding a clump of soil stained with paint.

They carried her to the security room. When she woke up, she noticed the surveillance had been tampered with.

A security guard used her phone to call the first number in her call log, and Timothy had arrived when Aurelia woke up.

Aurelia lay on a makeshift bed in the security room, staring blankly at the ceiling. The desecration of Brenda's grave had taken a heavy toll on her.

Timothy, knowing Aurelia well, just sat with her, worried she might do something rash.

Aurelia's voice was raspy, "Timothy, do you know anyone in the gang?"

Timothy glanced at the dozing security guards and replied cautiously, "Aurelia, let's talk about this later."

Her clothes were still wet, so Timothy draped a coat over her.

Struggling to sit up, Aurelia said, "Help me find someone. Money's not a problem."

Timothy's expression turned serious. "Aurelia, we can't do anything illegal."

Her eyes were red, and her fingers were injured from digging in the soil, with paint and blood on her hands. Timothy felt her pain just looking at her. "Aurelia, I'll help you, but let me take you to the hospital first," he suggested.

Most people couldn't handle such a blow, let alone a pregnant woman.

Timothy gently coaxed her into the car and drove straight to the hospital.

After a thorough check-up and bandaging, it was already dawn.

The doctor, looking at Aurelia's messed-up hands, sighed, "Be careful. Keep them dry and clean. If you don't protect your hands well, it will be hard to do delicate tasks in the future."

As a designer, her hands were precious. If damaged, it could end her career. Aurelia changed into hospital clothes and felt a bit warmer.

The doctor recommended she stay for 24-hour observation due to her slightly unstable pregnancy. The child's well-being was paramount, so she agreed.

She transferred a substantial sum to Timothy, saying, "Timothy, thanks for last night. I can't do much now, and I need your help. Please arrange a new headstone for my mom's grave, clean it up, and find someone capable. I have a plan."

Timothy nodded. "Aurelia, I'll do what you need. Just promise me you won't do anything foolish, like committing a crime." Timothy couldn't help but remind her.

Judging by her current state of mind, he suspected she might seek violent revenge on Chelsea and Maria, given all she'd suffered.

Aurelia forced a smile. "Don't worry. I'm not brave enough to commit murder."

She knew she had to act, or she'd never forgive herself for her weakness.

As the morning sunlight streamed in, Aurelia sat on the bed, staring blankly at the sky.

Ulysses had tried to take her out for dinner the previous day but failed. When he called the next day and learned of the incident, he rushed to the hospital. Seeing her hands wrapped in bandages, he was alarmed. "Aurelia, what happened to your hands?"

As an internationally renowned designer, one in a million kind, her hands were invaluable. Seeing them injured like this was shocking.

Aurelia replied calmly, "I strained them while digging. The doctor said they'll heal with proper care."

Her tone was flat, but inside, she was filled with sorrow, waiting to release her pent-up emotions.

Ulysses sighed, "You can't do anything like this. I'll find a caregiver for you." With that, he left the ward.

Aurelia quickly got up and followed him a few steps, "No, I'll be discharged tomorrow."

Seeing Ulysses standing motionless outside, glaring ahead with an unfriendly expression, Aurelia followed his gaze and saw Nathaniel walking towards them with Zack.

Nathaniel paused when he saw Aurelia in hospital attire. He knew she had a cold a few days ago, but could a cold be severe enough to put her in the hospital?

Why was she here?

Can't win me back
