Chapter 356 Can't We Share a Room

Aurelia smiled faintly, her lips pressed together. The two children were nearly five, and she had been hands-on with every detail of their upbringing. Now, it was time for her to enjoy some freedom.

"Can Jacob and Dorothy stay with you for the next few days?" she asked.

Nathaniel thought for a few seconds, quickly running through his upcoming work schedule in his mind. He had Zack push back some of his outings and social engagements.

"As long as the kids are willing, it's fine with me."

"Alright, it's settled then."

Nathaniel's phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and took the phone to the balcony to answer.

"Mr. Heilbronn, a lot of family members of that injured young model have approached Marcus. He's currently being harassed."

Nathaniel held a cigarette between his fingers and said calmly, "These people just want money. Contact the model and see what she wants. Satisfy her demands."

Zack acknowledged and hung up the phone.

Meanwhile, at the entrance of Marcus's private residence, Marcus was completely surrounded.

Recently, during a bridal show, a model hired by Marcus had her shoes tampered with by an insider. She fell on stage, fracturing her ankle and shattering her kneecap. The people under Marcus had failed to find out the cause of the incident.

The model, who had a bit of fame in the modeling world, was sent to the hospital. Marcus had the PR department suppress the news and visited her in the hospital, offering a small compensation.

The model initially thought she could be discharged after some rest and continue her career. However, the doctor later told her that while her ankle injury wasn't severe, her knee injury would likely leave a lifelong problem, making it inadvisable to wear high heels again. Returning to the stage was out of the question.

Being a model was her lifelong dream, and she couldn't accept this fate.

But she was up against Marcus of the Heilbronn Group, a powerful capitalist. For someone like her, with no background, seeking justice was nearly impossible. Just a few days ago, she mysteriously received Marcus's home address. She gathered all her relatives and friends and even paid some people to cause a scene at his door.

After a day and a night of waiting, they finally saw Marcus in person.

Marcus was now surrounded by a group of people hurling insults at him. No one knew the address of this house, so he had let his guard down and didn't even have an assistant with him.

He had been too careless.

Marcus was getting a headache from the noise.

"Can someone speak for the group? What exactly do you want?"

The group continued to shout, their harsh words ringing in Marcus's ears. Marcus covered his mouth and nose, feeling the air was polluted.

The leader, the injured model's mother, was the loudest.

"You heartless businessman, you ruined my daughter's leg. If you don't give us an explanation today, we won't let you go. My daughter still can't walk properly. You've destroyed her life. Don't you capitalists have any conscience?"

"Yeah, don't let him off. It's useless to find his assistant; we need to find the person in charge. Our Lulu was harmed by this heartless businessman. He only cares about making money and doesn't care about others' lives. His employee's mistake caused Lulu's leg to be damaged. We must get justice today!"

"What do you propose? If we don't get justice today, we won't leave. We'll see who can hold out longer."

Marcus covered his mouth and nose, coughing a few times. Surrounded by the crowd, Marcus felt suffocated.

"Everyone, please calm down and listen to me. The Heilbronn Group is also a victim here. No one wanted this to happen. It's possible that Cara offended someone, and the incident just happened to take place at our company. We've already compensated according to the law. What more do you want from us?"

"You are still dodging responsibility. Everyone, beat him up!"

Marcus glanced at his front door, just a few meters away, but he couldn't get home.

"There are surveillance cameras above. If you want to get physical, go ahead. The Heilbronn Group's legal department will pursue this to the end. No one will escape."

The group, inexperienced, was scared by Marcus's words and didn't dare to move forward. They didn't get physical, but they continued to hurl insults. The scene quieted down for a few seconds before the shouting resumed.

The crowd pointed at Marcus and cursed.

Marcus, unable to move in the crowd, started coughing violently. Realizing his asthma was acting up, he reached into his bag for his medication. Just as he grabbed the bottle, his bag was snatched and torn apart by the troublemakers.

Marcus, holding his neck, felt his breathing become labored. The crowd, realizing something was wrong, backed away, afraid of being blamed.

Marcus fell to the ground, his face turning red.

The crowd had only come to cause trouble and vent their anger. They didn't want to cause a death, especially not that of a Heilbronn Group executive. Seeing Marcus collapse, they were stunned.

"Seriously? He is this frail? We didn't even touch him, right?"

Everyone shook their heads.

"No, I didn't touch him."

"Me neither. He collapsed because of his own health issues."

"He won't blame us, will he?"

This question made everyone serious. They looked at each other and then quickly retreated, leaving the scene.

Marcus tightly gripped the medication bottle, spraying it into his nose. After a while, he began to feel better.

Sitting on the ground, he heard the ambulance approaching.

The incident quickly reached Nathaniel's ears. Zack had called for an ambulance after seeing Marcus being taken away and immediately reported everything to Nathaniel.

Zack didn't dare delay and called his boss right away.

"Mr. Heilbronn, Marcus had an asthma attack and was taken away by an ambulance."

Nathaniel tightened his grip on the phone.

"I told you to give him some trouble, not to hurt him."

Zack was so scared he didn't dare breathe.

"Mr. Heilbronn, it was an accident. They didn't get physical, just talked. Who knew Marcus was so weak? Just twenty or so people caused his asthma to flare up."

"Keep an eye on him. Make sure nothing happens."

"Mr. Heilbronn, our people are with him. They even checked in the hospital. He's fine, probably just affected by the air and a bit anxious. He can be discharged after a day of observation."

Nathaniel had just hung up when Reed called.

"Nathaniel, how about setting up Marcus's blind date at the Blue Ocean Restaurant?"

Nathaniel replied, "Grandpa, that sounds great."

Aurelia finished cleaning the kitchen and remembered that Nathaniel had slept on the couch the previous night, even though there were extra rooms in the house.

She decided to clean out a room for him. Sleeping on the couch occasionally was fine, but doing it for too long would ruin his neck.

As Aurelia came downstairs, Nathaniel had just finished a cigarette on the balcony.

"I'm going to clean out a room for you. Which one do you want? Or you can take the master bedroom, and I'll pick another room," Aurelia asked.

Aurelia gestured with her chin towards the empty rooms upstairs, letting him choose one.

Nathaniel looked at her thoughtfully and then replied, "Why go through all that trouble? Can't I just share a bed with you?"

Can't win me back
