Chapter 195 Let Me Go

"Aurelia, can you give me a moment?" Nathaniel's eyes were bloodshot as he asked, almost begging.

Aurelia wore an insincere smile..

She said, "I just have one question. It won't take up your time. Answer me, and I'll leave."

Seeing that she didn't intend to make a scene, Norman relaxed and didn't stop her.

Hearing her words, Nathaniel felt awful. He knew that she still minded.

He emerged from the bathroom and, walking over to her, reached out to take her hand. Aurelia quickly withdrew her hand, and their relationship plummeted back to an icy standoff.

Nathaniel felt as though he was on the brink of losing her completely.

Two women, and he couldn't seem to handle either.

They both walked outside one after the other. Aurelia looked at him coldly, seemingly waiting for an answer.

Nathaniel wished he could disappear on the spot. The answer she wanted was clearly one he was unwilling to give.

"Nathaniel, I'm tired of this. Please let me go. You don't have to make it so hard. If you agree to divorce me now, I'll leave with nothing."

Nathaniel's heart ached. She was willing to leave with nothing just to get away from him quickly.

He instinctively reached into his pocket for a cigarette, as if smoking could help him find an answer.

"Aurelia, I won't let go," he said.

Aurelia was provoked by his words, and despite trying to control herself, she couldn't help but raise her voice a few decibels.

"Nathaniel, this kind of like feels disgusting. Even morning sickness wasn't this bad. What did I do wrong to deserve this punishment?"

She rarely spoke so loudly or lost her temper like this. Her usual demeanor as a docile lamb had led people to misunderstand her as someone easily pushed around..

Nathaniel opened his arms to embrace her, but Aurelia forcefully pushed him away with all her strength.

"Don't touch me. It's really disgusting. When are we getting divorced? Can you give me a definite time so I can arrange my work?"

Nathaniel remained silent. He couldn't give her the answer she wanted.

Inside the ward, it was quiet.

Norman and Chelsea could hear the conversation outside. They were now more eager for Nathaniel's answer than Aurelia was.

Chelsea was so anxious she wished she could answer for him, 'Just divorce her now.'

But she wasn't him.

After a long while, Nathaniel's voice came from outside, trying to appease Aurelia.

"Aurelia, don't be impulsive. Go home and wait for me. There's your favorite seafood, flown in from overseas, already delivered to the villa."

Chelsea took a deep breath to calm the frustration inside her. It infuriated her how he could be so cold and aloof in front of her, yet lower himself and beg Aurelia to come home.

She thought to herself, 'I used to have so much confidence in myself, thinking I was invincible and that no matter how far I went, he would always wait for me to return.'

Reality had slapped her hard.

If she had known, she would rather have died of a heart attack than go abroad for treatment to prevent herself from losing her chance to become Mrs. Heilbronn.

Chelsea tried to control herself but couldn't hold back anymore.

She threw off the covers and got out of bed, but as soon as her feet touched the ground, her knees buckled, and she fell to the floor.

The fall scared Norman out of his wits. He couldn't tell if Chelsea was faking it or if it was real, as it looked so convincing.

"Doctor!" Norman shouted hoarsely towards the door.

The nurse on duty outside heard and called the doctor. Chelsea had already collapsed on the floor, unconscious.

Norman used all his strength to lift Chelsea off the floor, feeling the sticky blood on his hands. He looked and saw spots of blood, and he was terrified.

The doctor ushered him out of the ward.

After what felt like an eternity, a doctor came out.

Norman rushed over and asked anxiously, "Doctor, how is my daughter? The baby in her womb must be okay!"

Norman understood that losing this child would push Chelsea further away from becoming Mrs. Heilbronn, dashing his hopes.

The doctor looked serious and said, "The patient is experiencing a threatened miscarriage. She needs to stay in bed for a week to protect the pregnancy. The embryo's implantation site is very poor, and the patient has been under stress. Any mishap could be life-threatening."

Norman's face turned pale. He knelt in front of Nathaniel, clutching his pant leg and begging, "Mr. Heilbronn, please save Chelsea. She has had a hard life, born with a heart condition. She almost drowned saving you that year, and it took years of treatment abroad for her condition to stabilize. And now this..."

Norman humbled himself to the lowest point for Chelsea, even kneeling before Nathaniel to beg.

Aurelia had come to ask Nathaniel for a divorce, but she hadn't expected to witness such a dramatic display.

If she remembered correctly, the year Penelope passed away, she had also knelt before Norman, begging him to find an expert for Penelope or at least visit her in the hospital. In return, she received insults from him and Maria.

Her position in Norman's eyes was not even a fraction of Chelsea's.

She even wondered if she might have been adopted by Norman. In a fit of desperation, she secretly had a paternity test done, but the results were a crushing blow.

Norman was indeed her biological father, and that fact only deepened her anguish.

Now, in front of her, Norman—a grown man—was kneeling before Nathaniel, tears streaming down his face. It was clear that he was genuinely terrified for Chelsea, afraid that she might die.

After begging Nathaniel for a long time without getting a response, Norman crawled over to Aurelia and changed his plea to her.

"Aurelia, this is the last thing I'll ever ask of you. Please spare your sister. She's your biological sister. You can't be so heartless as to let her die. It's because of you that her relationship with Mr. Heilbronn is in such turmoil. Only you can save her now."

Aurelia took a step back, moving further away, and looked at Nathaniel with a cold smile.

"Nathaniel, you see? If Chelsea dies, they'll think I'm the murderer. Save her, and let me go too."

She couldn't bear this moral blackmail.

Even though she had done nothing wrong, she was being held responsible for everything.

The atmosphere was tense when the door to the ward suddenly opened. Several doctors came out after a consultation and solemnly informed them, "The patient's condition is very poor. She must not be further agitated. The baby might not survive. If it doesn't, we may have to perform a hysterectomy in an emergency."

Seeing the blood on his hands, Norman couldn't hold back and started crying loudly, "She's gone through so much to have your child, and you're still pushing her?"

Norman was frantic. He stood up and grabbed Aurelia's shoulders, shaking her violently, his eyes filled with rage.

Aurelia was caught off guard and felt dizzy from the shaking.

Can't win me back
