Chapter 205 Where Did My Granddaughter-in-law Go?

The car wound through the affluent neighborhood and stopped outside a beautiful villa boasting a small courtyard in the best location throughout the neighborhood. Reed paid the fare, got out of the car slowly, and rang the doorbell of the villa.

Inside the villa, the servants had finished cleaning. As their owner was not home, their day's work was done.

Hearing the doorbell, a servant came out to open the door. Seeing it was Reed, they quickly opened the door and respectfully welcomed him in.

Reed looked around but didn't see Aurelia. He directly asked, "Where is Aurelia?"

The servant honestly replied, "Mrs. Heilbronn hasn't been back for three days. We couldn't reach her by phone, and Mr. Heilbronn hasn't been able to contact her either. We don't know what happened, so we're just waiting."

Hearing this, Reed became even more anxious. He leaned on his cane and shakily climbed to the third floor, where the couple's bedroom and the children's rooms were located.

The children's rooms were exquisitely decorated, filled with many baby items he had sent over. He casually picked up a baby rattle, held it in his hand, and walked to the master bedroom. At the door, he saw an open suitcase on the floor.

The suitcase contained items Aurelia had packed the night before. It seemed she had planned to come back and finish after finalizing the divorce.

Reed's gaze fell on the open suitcase, which contained a few baby clothes, her diploma, and some important-looking trophies—her most treasured possessions.

It all looked like she was planning to leave.

Reed's expression grew cold, and he felt a surge of anger thinking about his unreliable grandson.

'That little bastard must have done something outrageous to make his wife so angry that she wanted a divorce and didn't even want the house,' Reed thought.

He then tried calling Nathaniel again.

At the hospital, Ted had just finished the discharge procedures and couldn't find Reed anywhere. Panicked, he called Zack and found out that Nathaniel was also in the hospital.

In the ward, Ted saw Nathaniel's phone screen flashing with the word "Grandpa," and he was terrified.

He said to Nathaniel, "Mr. Nathaniel Heilbronn, you mustn't tell Mr. Reed Heilbronn about Mrs. Heilbronn. He can't handle it. He's just started to recover, and he can't take another blow."

Nathaniel looked dazed. Before the incident, he would visit his grandpa in his ward every day, even if it meant getting scolded.

He hadn't visited his grandpa for three days and hadn't answered his calls. Reed, with his intelligence, must have realized something was wrong.

He collected himself and answered the phone, his voice hoarse and barely audible. "Grandpa, where are you? I'll send someone to pick you up."

Ted's heavy breathing came through the receiver, indicating his anger. "What did you do to make Aurelia leave? Where is my granddaughter-in-law? Where are my two great-grandchildren?"

Reed's cane hit the floor with a thud, his voice growing louder with each word, trembling by the end.

Nathaniel's heart trembled at Reed's questioning. He wished Aurelia had left because of him; at least then she would be alive somewhere in the world with their two healthy babies.

But the reality was excruciatingly painful.

She was gone, and she had taken the children with her forever.

He remembered her last words to him when she got the divorce papers, her face full of disappointment and indifference. "Nathaniel, we'll never meet again."

She didn't even give him a chance to see her one last time, leaving him with endless regret and a lifetime of guilt and pain over losing her and their children.

He didn't dare tell Reed the truth and choked out, "Grandpa, where are you? I'll explain in person."

Reed, furious, replied in a deep voice, "I'm at Aurelia's villa. You better get back here within half an hour and explain where my granddaughter-in-law and two great-grandchildren are!"

After hanging up, Zack helped Nathaniel up and to change.

Reed had given a strict order, and no one dared to stop him. This matter had to be explained to him sooner or later. If Nathaniel didn't say it, Reed would eventually find out himself.

If so, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Zack, a skilled driver, got Nathaniel back to the villa as quickly as possible.

Reed sat upright on the sofa, exuding a murderous aura.

Before entering, Nathaniel pushed away Zack and Ted's supporting hands, mustered his strength, and walked in.

"Grandpa!" he called out, his voice so hoarse it was unrecognizable.

Reed was taken aback by his appearance.

Under his impression, the usual proud and high-spirited Natheniel had never looked so defeated. Ignoring his sickly appearance and bloodshot eyes, his whole demeanor was one of collapse, lacking the vitality of a normal person.

Reed felt heartbroken over Nathanie's appearance while harbored anger toward his doing. Nathaniel was his beloved grandson, who had been by his side since childhood and was most like him.

But this little bastard had done the one thing that made him the angriest—driving away his wife and children.

Before Reed could speak, Nathaniel approached and knelt down, "Grandpa, I made Aurelia leave."

Reed's lips trembled with anger, and he struck Nathaniel's back with his cane.

Nathaniel endured his grandpa's punishment, his body nearly giving out, but he held on, letting Reed vent his anger.

Reed stopped when he was exhausted, sitting back on the sofa. "You idiot, what's the use of kneeling here? Your wife left with the kids. Why aren't you out there looking for them? Are you only good at making people angry?"

Nathaniel held back his tears, choking up, "Grandpa, I'm looking for her. I'll bring her back."

Reed, still angry, said, "What's the use of you? Aurelia is pregnant with twins. She is at her most vulnerable time, and you, as her husband, are not considerate at all. You only know how to anger her. If you can't bring Aurelia back, don't come back to see me!"

Nathaniel nodded while kneeling. "I'll bring her back, I promise."

But he had no confidence in his words. She had left this world completely, and he couldn't even find her grave, let alone bring her back.

He would never have the chance in this lifetime.

After hearing his repeated assurances, Reed snorted and left the villa with Ted.

The large house became empty.

Nathaniel looked around at everything in the house, filled with traces of her short-lived presence.

Her favorite cup was in the small kitchen, her half-finished design drafts were in the study, and the loose dresses she had taken to wearing recently were hanging in the bedroom closet.

In the children's room, there was a half-assembled baby slide. He kicked off his slippers, walked barefoot into the children's room, and sat on the floor to assemble the unfinished parts, piece by piece.

Meanwhile, at Coral Bay, a family anxiously waited outside a high-end ward.
