Chapter 383 Can I Be Officially Accepted?
In the evening, Aurelia cooked, which was her first time making a meal in this house.
Nathaniel, lying in bed, kept himself busy with his laptop, organizing a lot of work. Over the next weekend, Aurelia would take the two kids back to Coral Bay, and he needed to plan his recent work, prioritizing the urgent tasks and pushing the less urgent ones back.
He definitely planned to go to Coral Bay with them.
As his grandfather had said, the focus of Imperick needed to gradually shift to Coral Bay.
Aurelia prepared four dishes and a soup and set them on the table. Nathaniel was still in a remote meeting. Despite it being the weekend, the core management of the company was not idle, as he had called them in.
Aurelia called him for a long time without a response, so she went directly to the bedroom to get him. "Do you want me to bring it to the bedroom for you?"
Aurelia knew his peculiar habit of not liking to eat anywhere other than the dining table. Considering he wasn't feeling well, she asked.
Nathaniel shook his head and said, "I'll be right there."
Aurelia, unaware he was in a meeting, added, "It'll get cold. Won't your stomach feel uncomfortable?"
Nathaniel smiled indulgently and announced to the computer camera, "Meeting adjourned. My wife is calling me for dinner."
Aurelia's eyelids twitched. He never told her about the meetings, making her feel so awkward.
Nathaniel got out of bed, put on his slippers, and caught up to her, skillfully wrapping an arm around her waist.
The two kids were already sitting obediently at the dining table, waiting for their parents to start the meal.
The food on the table was tempting. Nathaniel's stomach was uncomfortable, but he wanted to try it. The vegetable porridge he had requested was already served and placed at his usual spot.
The porridge was thick, and a spoonful in his mouth tasted familiar.
Nathaniel ate the porridge slowly, constantly comforting himself that such happy days should be cherished one day at a time. Just focus on the present.
At worst, when she left, he would follow.
However, back in Coral Bay, there wouldn't be as many opportunities to spend time with her and the two kids, living under the same roof. She would have to return to The Semona Family.
At bedtime, the two kids asked to sleep in their rooms.
Kids had a playful nature, and the novelty of the tent had worn off after a day or two.
Aurelia didn't mind, but Nathaniel felt a bit sad.
Sleeping in their rooms meant the four of them in four different rooms. It seemed he lost the chance to sleep holding her. He slept best when she was by his side.
After putting the two kids to sleep, Aurelia returned to her room. Nathaniel had been waiting for her to come to him, but she didn't. He couldn't sleep.
Nathaniel tossed and turned in bed, finally gently pushing open Aurelia's door. "Aurelia, can we sleep together?"
Aurelia was reading a novel, with a lamp on the bedside. Nathaniel's question made her hesitate. Sleeping together, would he misbehave?
Aurelia sat up and tidied her hair. Before she could refuse, Nathaniel was already in bed with his blanket, the same double blanket they used to share.
"I can't sleep. My head hurts a bit." Afraid she would kick him out, he started to act pitiful.
Aurelia's bed had a faint fragrance, not the industrial scent of cosmetics or perfume, but her natural scent.
Nathaniel was addicted to this scent. Smelling it made him feel secure, even in his sleep, his subconscious telling him she was there.
Aurelia had no chance to refuse. He was already close, taking half her pillow.
Nathaniel folded her blanket and took it away, covering them both with his large blanket, skillfully pulling her into his chest. The whole process was smooth and natural.
"Aurelia, when we go back to Coral Bay, can you introduce me to your family?"
Aurelia paused, "There will be a chance."
She was thinking about when it would be appropriate to take him back. She needed to prepare her grandmother first. Suddenly bringing him back might be too much for the family to accept.
She knew her grandmother's attitude.
Nathaniel rubbed his chin on her head and said softly, "I'll do my best to make a good impression."
"Don't put too much pressure on yourself. This can't be rushed."
"Okay." He knew it couldn't be rushed. Changing her family's impression of him in a short time was almost impossible. He needed to do something to win their favor.
But before that, he needed to be sure of her feelings. "Aurelia, can I be officially accepted?"
Aurelia was getting warm under the blanket, but she wasn't losing her mind.
"Mr. Heilbronn, you've only been on probation for a few days. The Heilbronn Group employees have a three-month probation period. I'm looking for a partner, not an employee, so I need to test you more."
Nathaniel chuckled, "Fair enough. But is there a fixed period or a set of criteria?"
"It depends on my mood."
Nathaniel smiled helplessly, "Let me know when you're in a good mood, and I'll ask again."
Aurelia rolled her eyes at him, "Depends on your performance. You're young, don't you want to work hard? Don't think about taking shortcuts."
"Okay, I'll do my best."
Nathaniel inhaled her scent, forgetting to control his strength. Aurelia was almost suffocating in his embrace.
"You're going to smother me." Aurelia shrank her neck, trying to move away. His rough chin was hurting her.
Nathaniel loosened his grip a bit, but the next second, he pulled her back into his arms. Holding her like this was something he never dared to dream of before. He wanted to become one with her.
Aurelia protested softly, "Let go, or do you not want to be officially accepted?"
Nathaniel chuckled, "Being officially accepted is my biggest goal, but I want to hold you tight even more."
Aurelia snorted, trying to find a comfortable position in his arms, unaware of Nathaniel's reaction.
Her head kept rubbing against his Adam's apple, making it hard for him not to have thoughts.
He wasn't a saint, especially with the woman he loved in his arms.
Aurelia found a comfortable angle and settled down, feeling something was off. She looked up and met Nathaniel's intense gaze, immediately understanding.
His body heat was burning her. Aurelia quickly looked away, moving to the side, avoiding his gaze.
The room suddenly became quiet. Aurelia's mind raced to find an excuse to escape, "I need to check if Dorothy kicked off her blanket."
She was about to get up, but before she could, Nathaniel pulled her back, "Aurelia, don't run."
