Chapter 87 Mr. Heilbronn Won't Be That Brainless
Everyone knew that the workplace was not fair, but there was still a bottom line.
In less than a day, the plagiarism incident spread across various departments of the company. People whispered everywhere in the company, and the situation's development exceeded everyone's expectations.
In the afternoon, Aurelia and Tiffany went to the restroom together and ran into Amy coming out.
"Aurelia, was it you?" Amy spoke directly, with a face that seemed to want to help Chelsea get justice.
Aurelia casually raised her lips. "What did I do? I didn't instigate her to plagiarize."
Refusing to repent for wrongdoing and instead shifting blame onto others was a truly shameless act. Even if Chelsea was like a dirty rag, there were still brainless people supporting her, undoubtedly betting on her relationship with Nathaniel, wanting to climb up the cooperate ladder using this connection.
Amy was not convinced. "Who are you accusing of plagiarism? You, a mere assistant without even the qualifications to participate in the project, have no right to accuse others of plagiarism. Ms. Thompson must have been framed by you. Just wait; we will find evidence and then see how Mr. Heilbronn deals with you. Are you ready to get out of the design circle?"
Aurelia looked at her disdainfully. Such ignorant people made her feel disgusting just by looking at them.
"You can investigate, but first present your evidence that you didn't plagiarize."
Aurelia pulled Tiffany and turned to walk away, ignoring the brainless fool.
Amy, finding it pointless to argue with Aurelia, also left. Before leaving, she glanced back at the restroom with a gloating expression.
After she left, Tiffany tugged at Aurelia's sleeve and asked softly, "Aurelia, did Ms. Thompson really plagiarize?"
Aurelia raised her lips. "If she claims that what she submitted was her own work, then it must be plagiarism. Everyone has eyes, and the similarity is over eighty percent."
As they spoke, Tiffany suddenly fell and lay on the restroom floor, her movements so quick that she didn't even know how she fell.
Aurelia was startled and quickly squatted down to see if she was hurt.
"Tiffany, are you okay? Where did you hit?"
Tiffany was dazed. She couldn't even remember how she fell just now. She was wearing low-heeled shoes, and the soles were not that slip-resistant, but they shouldn't have been that slippery.
Aurelia helped her up carefully.
"Tiffany, the floor is full of soap bubbles."
Aurelia furrowed her brows. It was clear that someone had deliberately caused this mess. And Amy had just come out from inside.
Aurelia immediately had an answer in her mind. Chelsea must have told Amy about her pregnancy news. That idiot not only helped Chelsea but also felt proud of it.
Now, she had to watch out not only for Chelsea but also for her accomplice.
Aurelia was grateful that she was wearing non-slip sneakers, which saved her from a disaster. With two babies in the belly, she was extra cautious, especially when buying shoes with non-slip soles.
If she had slipped today, the consequences would have been severe.
It threw a chill down Aurelia’s spine. After all, it's hard to guard against malicious people. With her current physical condition, she couldn't afford any accidents.
As they left the restroom, Aurelia was preoccupied, and Tiffany's attempts to talk to her went unheard. They walked towards the office, and in the corridor, Amy stood with her arms crossed, looking in their direction with a curious expression as if waiting for them.
Rubbing her elbow, Tiffany felt the fall was not light. Thankfully, she had braced herself with her arms; otherwise, she might have had a concussion.
Seeing that Aurelia was fine, Amy's eyes flickered with a hint of disappointment.
"Taking so long in the restroom, are you constipated?"
Amy taunted.
As a newcomer facing provocation from a senior, Tiffany dared not speak up. She glanced at Aurelia, who held the same position as her, and swallowed her grievances.
Aurelia raised her lips.
"Amy, pay attention to your behavior in the company. You have wasted company resources, causing financial losses. Be careful. The management will take action once they find out."
Amy sneered, "Are you joking? I haven't wasted anything."
"You are in charge of the department's activity funds, right? I remember the company regulations state that seventy dollars per person are allocated monthly for department team-building activities. I've been here for a while, and I haven't seen any team-building activities organized by the department with over fifty people in the design department. Where did the money go? Did you embezzle it?"
Amy's face turned red in an instant. She glanced around, and apart from the three of them, there was no one else in the corridor. Luckily, no one else heard her accusations, and she breathed a sigh of relief.
"Aurelia, I warn you to behave yourself in the company. If you do anything detrimental to Ms. Thompson again, be prepared for Mr. Heilbronn to deal with you."
Amy spoke with confidence, and to those unaware, she might seem like the boss's trusted aide.
Tiffany was intimidated by her words. She pulled Aurelia aside.
"Aurelia, if you offend Ms. Thompson, will Mr. Heilbronn not approve your permanent position?"
Aurelia reassured her. "Don't worry."
Tiffany was a bit scared. She whispered to Aurelia, "Aurelia, maybe you shouldn't provoke them. If you can't get a permanent position, it will be troublesome."
Being able to join the design department of the Heilbronn Group was already quite an achievement in the design circle. Even if she switched jobs later, having work experience at the Heilbronn Group would be a golden addition to her career, and small companies outside would offer high salaries to poach employees.
This opportunity was rare, and no one would joke about their future.
Tiffany felt that Aurelia was indeed a bit too bold. She dared to confront Chelsea, who had a strong backing, something Tiffany would never dare to do.
Aurelia patted Tiffany's shoulder. "Don't worry about me. Mr. Heilbronn won't be that brainless."
This sentence made Tiffany widen her eyes and look at her directly. No one in the company dared speak so frankly. Discussing whether Nathaniel had brains was simply unimaginable.
Amy, who was standing nearby, chuckled.
"You're still comforting yourself. I advise you to find a side job quickly. Don't end up losing your job and sleeping under a bridge. If you soften up to Ms. Thompson now, maybe she will put in a good word for you with Mr. Heilbronn and spare you."
"Don't worry. The combined area of your entire family might not even match the size of my bathroom at home. If you end up unemployed and sleeping under a bridge one day, let me know. I can hire you to clean my bathroom, and I'll pay you more than what you'd get elsewhere."
"Just wait and see!"
Amy's mouth twitched in anger as she turned and went back to her desk.
Tiffany asked Aurelia softly, "Aurelia, do you really not need a side job? My classmate recently took on a private job and needs extra hands. If you're interested, I can introduce you."
Aurelia looked at the innocent girl and felt a pang of guilt. She thought about quitting after the company's press conference and didn't want this friendly girl to be bullied by Amy.
"Tiffany, it's better if we interact less in the future. I'm afraid of causing trouble for you."
