Chapter 1003 The Feeling of Arranging Final Affairs
Dwight left the CEO's office, his face a mix of shock and confusion.
As he opened the door, Timothy appeared, about to enter.
"Hey, Dwight," Timothy greeted, stepping aside.
"Why did Kelvin call you in today?" Timothy asked casually. "What did you talk about?"
"Tim, you can ask Kelvin yourself. I gotta take care of some stuff," Dwight replied, hurrying away.
Timothy watched Dwight's retreating figure, raising an eyebrow.
Dwight was always composed and meticulous. What could Kelvin have said to shake him up like that?
"Alright, spill it," Timothy said, pulling out a chair and sitting down. "You called me out of a meeting. What's going on?"
Kelvin looked at him, a slight smile playing on his lips. "You seem to be doing well lately, looking all cheerful and content."
"Well, I'm in the honeymoon phase. You know how it is. You've been there."
Kelvin's smile faded as old memories surfaced.
Honeymoon phase?
He and Penelope had started with marriage, skipping the whole dating part. If he had to pinpoint a time, it was when he realized he loved Penelope.
But back then, Kelvin's way of expressing love was subtle, almost selfish.
"I did go through it, but it left a lot of regrets," Kelvin admitted. "It's nothing like the sweetness between you and Monica."
"Everyone's love story is different. As long as there's love, that's what matters."
"Best wishes to you."
Timothy nodded with a smile. "Thanks."
It felt good to openly acknowledge his love for someone and receive his friend's blessings.
When people mentioned Timothy, they thought of Monica. And vice versa.
Love binded two people together, making them one.
Kelvin tapped his fingers on the desk. "By the way, Timothy, how long have you been with Davis Group?"
"How long?"
"Yes."
Timothy looked puzzled. "Why are you asking this all of a sudden?"
Kelvin's expression was calm. "Why? Can't I ask?"
"It's just odd, reminiscing like this. Not a good sign," Timothy said. "I haven't really kept track, but ever since you took over Davis Group, I've been with you through thick and thin, unpaid overtime..."
Kelvin interrupted, "It's been about ten years, right?"
"Sounds about right."
How many decades did one get in life?
"Timothy, in the entire Davis Group, you're the person I trust the most," Kelvin said. "I wouldn't trust anyone else with confidential matters, but you. I can tell you anything without holding back."
Timothy slid back in his chair, looking startled.
He made a big "X" with his hands. "Wait, wait, Kelvin, you're giving me vibes like you're about to make a final confession."
Kelvin fell silent.
He wasn't dying!
The test results weren't out yet!
"Look," Timothy realized he might have misspoken. "I was just making a point. You get what I mean."
"Even if I had final matters to settle, would I need to tell you?"
"True, you'd probably tell Penelope first..." Timothy paused. "No, wait, Kelvin, you wouldn't tell Penelope!"
In the past, Timothy wouldn't have thought this way. But since he started dating Monica, he understood the beauty of love and learned a lot about relationships.
If Timothy had to settle final matters, he wouldn't tell Monica.
He couldn't bear it. He'd be too scared to face her.
Leaving her behind in this world... just the thought made his heart ache.
He'd keep it a secret, quietly arranging everything, only revealing the truth at the end.
"Kelvin..." Timothy's voice grew serious. "Don't talk like this. If you have matters to discuss, speak plainly. This is making me anxious."
Kelvin chuckled, tossing a file at him. "You just want me out of the way so you can run Davis Group without anyone holding you back!"
Timothy caught the file. "I'm used to your demands. I actually like it. Keep treating me the same way!"
Their decade-long friendship was solid, built on trust and understanding. Sometimes, a single glance was enough to know what the other was thinking.
They were friends, brothers, and comrades.
"Alright, alright," Timothy said, getting serious. "What's the matter? Just say it, no beating around the bush."
Kelvin spoke calmly. "Everything's fine right now. What could be wrong?"
"Really, nothing?"
"Nothing."
"Then why did you call me here? Just to argue?" Timothy scrutinized him. "That doesn't sound like you, Kelvin. Can you be straightforward?"
Kelvin met his gaze. "I just wanted to say, out of everyone at Davis Group, I trust you the most. No matter what happens, you'll stand by me and prioritize my interests."
"Of course, that's a given."
"And I also want to say..." Kelvin hesitated. "Penelope is my wife. I support all her decisions unconditionally. I hope you can trust her as much as you trust me."
Timothy pointed at himself. "Me, trust her?"
"Yes."
"Yes, what? Kelvin, what are you getting at?" Timothy waved his hand. "This is confusing. Penelope has nothing to do with me. She's your wife, but she doesn't interfere with company matters."
"What if she does in the future? She's the largest shareholder of Davis Group."
"You know how exhausting managing a company is. You wouldn't let her go through that. You'd rather create a perfect world for Penelope, protecting her from everything!"
Interfering with company affairs... impossible!
Kelvin wanted Penelope to be a carefree, pampered wife, enjoying life while he took care of everything.
Kelvin looked at him. "I just want you to understand, Penelope and I are a unit. Trust her as much as you trust me."
Timothy replied, "Setting aside our relationship, just because she's Monica's friend, I wouldn't dare cross her. Kelvin, what are you thinking?"
"Nothing."
