Chapter 956 Mr. Walker Actually Likes Mrs. Davis!
Thessaly was under Brandon's protection. If Brandon gave the green light, Paul could make a move on her. Without Brandon's say-so, Paul wouldn't dare touch Thessaly!
Thessaly stood in front of the bathroom mirror, stunned.
Paul was a big shot in the entertainment world. As a young director and a box office hit-maker, everyone treated him with respect. He always had this air of superiority, talking about art like he was the authority.
But behind closed doors, in front of Brandon, Paul was a whole different person!
And the kicker? From their chat, it was clear Brandon knew about her and Paul hooking up!
How did Brandon know?
Wasn't he out cold, too??
And they talked about her like she was some fancy toy to play with!
What did they think she was? A plaything?!
Thessaly clenched the lipstick in her hand, her nails digging into her palm, leaving deep marks.
Something was off about that night at the hotel...
She held her breath, not daring to make a sound, scared the two guys outside would find her!
She heard Brandon say, "I don't want Thessaly, and you shouldn't either. Paul, you can go after any actress in the biz, but not her."
"Why, Mr. Walker? If you don't mind me asking, what's your deal with Thessaly?" Paul was confused.
If Brandon cared about her, why did he send Thessaly to his bed?
If Brandon didn't give a damn, why warn him to back off?
"That's none of your business," Brandon shot back. "Stick to making your movies. Got it?"
"Got it, got it. Mr. Walker, who are you interested in? Someone in the industry? Just say the word, and I'll make sure she's all yours!"
Paul wanted to keep Brandon, his benefactor, happy. Not many actresses were as stubborn and proud as Thessaly. Most would strip down in a heartbeat if there was something to gain.
Brandon gave him a look. "You still don't know who I'm after?"
Paul was stumped.
He'd been hanging around Brandon a lot lately and hadn't seen any woman by his side.
Brandon was always busy with social events and was often accompanied by his assistants.
The woman who appeared most frequently in Brandon's life was Thessaly. But Brandon didn't seem interested in her.
The other one was... Penelope?!
Mrs. Davis from the Davis family, the top family in LA?!
Paul was floored, his mouth hanging open, speechless for a long time.
Brandon stayed cool, casually sipping his water.
After all, he and Paul were in the same boat now. Paul had plenty of dirt on him and wouldn't betray him, only be used by him!
"Mr. Walker," Paul finally managed to say, "that night, you took Mrs. Davis away because... because..."
Holy crap!
That was Mrs. Davis! A married woman!
Why was Mr. Walker into that?
When Paul agreed to help, he thought Brandon had some other reason for taking Penelope away.
Maybe it was about business competition, and Brandon wanted some leverage over Penelope to threaten the Davis family and the Davis Group.
Or maybe Brandon had a beef with Penelope.
But he never imagined that the suave Brandon, who could have any woman, actually had a thing for Penelope!
"You took Thessaly for a reason, and I took Penelope for the same reason," Brandon said, cool as a cucumber. "Do I really need to spell it out?"
"But..."
A married woman with two kids? What's the thrill in that?
Brandon's tastes were definitely... unique!
Paul suddenly felt a wave of panic.
He couldn't afford to tick off Brandon, but the Davis family? Yeah, he couldn't mess with them either!
In this circle, one wrong move and he could be wiped out, vanish from the entertainment scene!
Right then, Paul realized he might've stirred up some serious trouble.
"Feeling nervous?" Brandon noticed his worried look. "What are you scared of? You didn't cross the Davis family. Thessaly can't touch you."
"I, I..."
Paul was stumbling over his words.
Even though he hadn't laid a finger on Penelope or even dared to think about it, he'd helped Brandon set it up!
He was in deep as an accomplice!
"Mr. Walker..." Paul hesitated, then asked, "That night... did you get what you wanted?"
If Brandon had really hooked up with Penelope, it would be huge.
But then again, it could be leverage for Paul against Brandon.
If Brandon ever stopped backing him or tried to throw him under the bus, he could spill the beans to Kelvin!
He needed a backup plan, a way out!
Brandon's face turned dark, clearly unhappy.
Seeing his expression, Paul guessed, "You... didn't pull it off? How's that possible? I did."
Brandon stayed silent.
Every time he thought about it, Brandon felt a sting of frustration.
Why hadn't he moved faster? Why hadn't he just taken Penelope and dealt with the fallout later?
He'd been too soft, too wrapped up in his feelings for her. Seeing her lying there, letting him do whatever, he wanted to savor it, take his time.
Who knew Kelvin's bodyguards would show up so fast!
But... nobody knew the real story!
Only Brandon knew!
Paul waited for Brandon to say something, but no matter how long he waited, Brandon kept quiet.
Paul's heart raced. "Mr. Walker, did you not..."
Before he could finish, Brandon shot him a glare. "What did you say?"
Paul clammed up immediately!
Whether Brandon had succeeded with Penelope or not was none of his business!
He was too curious! It would land him in hot water!
The less he knew about this, the better!
"What you did, I did," Brandon said, his lips tight. "Do I need to explain?"
He would never admit he had failed.
Never!
Even to someone like Paul, Brandon wouldn't admit it!
As long as everyone believed he had been with Penelope, then even if it was a lie, it would become the truth!
Some things, once they're out there, become reality!
Even Brandon was convincing himself, repeating over and over that he had been with Penelope, had her.
Only if he truly believed it could he make others believe it too.
Especially... Kelvin!
Kelvin was always on his tail, and he knew it.
But this time, Brandon had been super careful, leaving no trace or evidence.
Let Kelvin dig all he wanted; he'd find nothing!
