Chapter 1046 When I Grow Up, I'll Marry You!
"I..." Brandon hesitated, unsure how to respond. "Why are you suddenly interested in this?"
"Angel Thessaly is so beautiful and kind. Why don't you appreciate her? Mom said it's your fault, and the responsibility is yours. Uncle Brandon, why don't you know how to cherish her? You won't find another like her!"
Sam scolded Brandon.
"Relationships need effort. Arguments are normal, but as guys, we should be more considerate of girls. Uncle Brandon, where will you find another girlfriend as gentle and beautiful as Angel Thessaly?"
"Just apologize, swallow your pride, and win her back, okay? I'm really worried some other guy will swoop in and take her away, and then you'll have nowhere to cry!"
"A good man doesn't argue with a woman... well, you get the idea!" Sam scratched his head. "You understand, right?"
Penelope stood quietly behind him.
There was a long silence.
Brandon had no words for Sam.
Penelope had spared him the embarrassment of revealing his actions to the kids. Otherwise, his image in their eyes would have crumbled.
"Uncle Brandon, Uncle Brandon?" Sam called out several times. "Why aren't you saying anything?"
"Sam... adult matters are hard to explain in a few words."
"So you really want to break up with Angel Thessaly?"
At that moment, a gentle female voice came from the entrance: "I'm the one breaking up with him."
Sam looked up.
Thessaly walked in, her long hair flowing, wearing a white knit dress, looking graceful and composed.
"Angel Thessaly..." Sam stared at her. "Why are you here?"
"I missed you and Lucy, so I came to see you."
Thessaly carried several bags of gifts.
Sam held the phone, stunned.
"Hang up," Thessaly smiled. "Sam, you can ask me anything in person."
She seemed unaffected by the breakup.
Sam quietly put down the phone.
What a shame.
He thought Uncle Brandon and Angel Thessaly were a perfect match.
A handsome man and a beautiful woman, a match made in heaven.
How did it fall apart so quickly?
They hadn't been together long!
"It's okay, Angel Thessaly," Sam earnestly comforted her. "Wait for me to grow up, and I'll marry you!"
Thessaly laughed and pinched his cheek. "Alright, you said it, so I'll wait for you! Pinky promise!"
"Pinky promise!"
Big and small hands linked together.
Penelope watched this scene and then turned to Kelvin, who was standing beside her.
Kelvin held her hand, giving it a gentle squeeze.
He didn't know Thessaly's current state either.
"Here, this is for you, and this is for Lucy." Thessaly handed out the gifts. "Open them and see if you like them."
Sam: "I like everything you buy."
Lucy: "It's the Barbie doll I wanted!"
Thessaly smiled warmly. "I only bought gifts for you two. Sam, Lucy, even if I'm no longer Uncle Brandon's girlfriend, you'll still like me as before, right?"
Sam replied, "I like you not because you're Uncle Brandon's girlfriend. I like you because you're you."
Lucy nodded. "Sam's right!"
"Then I'm relieved," Thessaly said with a soft smile. "I was worried you wouldn't want to play with me anymore."
Sam looked at her, curiosity written all over his face. "Angel Thessaly, what did Uncle Brandon do to make you break up with him... ouch! Do not twist my ear again!"
Before he could finish, Penelope had already twisted his ear and pulled him to her side.
"Enough, don't ask. You don't need to know so much. Love isn't something you should be concerned with at your age," Penelope said quickly. "Finish your dinner and then go do your homework!"
Sam blinked, looking at her, silent.
Penelope's heart softened.
Was she being too harsh?
Just as this thought crossed her mind, Sam said, "You're like a shrew, you know."
Penelope was silent.
"Especially compared to Angel Thessaly, you..."
Sam wanted to continue, but seeing Penelope's increasingly fierce expression, he quickly broke free and ran off.
Seeing Sam get no sympathy, Lucy smartly went back to the dining room to finish her meal.
Penelope sighed in relief.
She looked at Thessaly. "Don't mind their words, they're just kids, speaking without thinking. We were talking about Brandon during dinner, and I told them you and Brandon broke up."
"It's right to tell them. But you didn't say what Brandon did, did you?"
"No." Penelope shook her head. "I'm a mess myself, can't sort it out, let alone explain to the kids."
Should she tell Sam and Lucy that Brandon had schemed against her, almost violated her?
Should she say that Brandon had someone violate Thessaly?
These things were too dark, not suitable for children.
Thessaly sighed. "Yes, the children's world is innocent and pure. Such dirty and vile things shouldn't be known to them."
"Thessaly, I'm most worried about you. Why aren't you resting at home? Why come here?"
"I went to the hospital, but the doctor said you had already gone home, so I came over."
Penelope bit her lip. "I was too angry at Brandon, but I'm fine physically. I left the hospital after a nap."
Thessaly smiled, a bit bitterly. "Why get angry over someone like him?"
Thessaly had long seen through Brandon's true nature.
Hypocritical, selfish, dark, pretending to be cultured and graceful, but in reality?
But she was even more foolish.
Knowing his nature, seeing through his essence, she still fell in love with him.
Love and hate being intertwined was the most painful and deadly!
Looking at Thessaly, Penelope felt immense pity.
She stepped forward, gently holding Thessaly's hand. "I can't imagine how much you've endured alone during this time..."
"It's alright. Knowing that my actions revealed the truth and exposed Brandon's hypocrisy makes it all worth it."
"Thessaly, from the day you assured me that Brandon and I were innocent, you already knew the truth, didn't you?"
"Sort of." Thessaly nodded. "I overheard Brandon and Paul talking. But it was just me hearing it; I had no evidence. I cannot impose retribution upon Paul and Brandon. So, I chose to stay with Brandon, getting closer step by step, until I got the evidence."
