Chapter 979 Thessaly, I Like You
"Fake or not, who cares?"
Revenge was the only thing keeping her going.
"Brandon..." Thessaly whispered, caught between surprise and shyness. "Do you even know what you're saying?"
"Yeah, I do."
"Are you sure you're not just talking crazy 'cause you're hurt?"
Brandon let out a small laugh. "I hurt my back, not my brain, Thessaly. I know exactly what I'm saying and what I want."
"But I'm not good enough..."
"If that's how you see it, then I'm not good enough for you either," Brandon cut in. "I've been engaged, had feelings for someone else, and my past is a mess. If you're okay with that, I'm already thankful."
Thessaly bit her lip hard again.
He was such a smooth talker... Every word pulled at her heartstrings!
With Brandon's looks, charm, and skills, he could have any woman he wanted, no doubt about it!
Why couldn't he just let go of Penelope and start fresh with someone new?
Why did he use all these sneaky tactics to get Penelope?
Thessaly turned her head. Right then, she really didn't want to act.
She wanted to rip off the mask, confront Brandon, and see his true face!
'Brandon, stop pretending! Aren't you tired of saying things you don't mean and doing things you don't believe in?'
Thessaly closed her eyes.
Even though she was a pro actress, with awards to prove her talent, she couldn't keep up the act right now.
She could only close her eyes and hide all her emotions.
Just as she was trying to calm the storm inside her, Brandon suddenly pulled her into a hug.
"Brandon, you..."
"We've come this far, Thessaly. Don't you get it?" he asked. "If you have any worries or questions, just tell me. I'll answer them."
His chin brushed against her hair by her ear. "I want you to feel completely at ease. I don't want you to have any misconceptions about me. Between us, there should be no secrets, only honesty."
Easier said than done!
"I... I don't have any questions," Thessaly replied.
Because even if she asked, she wouldn't get a single truthful answer.
'It's all fake, every bit of it!'
She couldn't trust Brandon!
"So, can you accept me?" Brandon asked softly. "From the day I met you, I found you incredibly special and charming. Your independence, your professionalism, your dedication to your work—those are all things I admire."
"...Really? Is that true?"
"It is."
That was the truth from Brandon.
Thessaly was beautiful and graceful, a talented actress who had won a Best Actress award, with her career on the rise, and she was known for her integrity. She didn't suck up to anyone, refused to play by the industry's dirty rules, and worked hard on her own... Among all the actresses, she stood out brilliantly.
Brandon thought, 'if he could let go of Penelope, he could try to start something with Thessaly.'
But there was no "if."
He only wanted Penelope. Everyone else was just a compromise, a substitute.
Twenty years ago, he had set his sights on Penelope, and twenty years later, he still wanted her!
Brandon had to compete with Kelvin!
"Thessaly, I really want to get to know you better. I... really love you," Brandon said, his voice softening with love, he was nervous. "Do you... love me?"
He waited for her answer.
Thessaly opened her mouth.
She hesitated... even though she knew she had to agree.
Only by becoming Brandon's girlfriend could she gather evidence more easily!
But she still felt some resistance inside.
Why could men lie so easily, act so convincingly, as if they truly cared?
While for women, reaching this point required immense courage and strength!
"Thessaly?" Brandon called her name again, sensing her hesitation.
She wouldn't turn him down, would she? He was confident; otherwise, he wouldn't have confessed so boldly.
He couldn't win over Thessaly?
He had done enough groundwork, and today he had even risked himself to save her!
Brandon couldn't believe she wasn't moved, unless... that day in the office, Thessaly had really overheard his conversation with Paul!
Otherwise, normally, she would have fallen for his charms by now!
"Brandon, I," Thessaly stammered, "I want to tell you that I love you."
He smiled.
"But..."
"What is it?" Brandon asked. "But what? Do you have any concerns?"
Thessaly gently pushed him away and looked him in the eye.
She had already adjusted her emotions!
Face it!
"If we love each other, can we really be together?" Thessaly asked. "Will others bless us? How will you deal with Paul in the future? Will the Walker family accept a movie star with you?"
"Those aren't problems. Thessaly, I love you. As long as you love me too, we can be together."
"I..."
Just then, there was a noise at the door.
Suddenly, the door burst open.
Penelope stumbled in, barely managing to stay on her feet.
Brandon and Thessaly both turned to look at her.
Penelope stood up straight, forcing a smile. "Hey there!"
She waved, trying to cover her embarrassment with a grin.
Oh my God, how did she end up barging in at this moment?
Why now? What happened?
Penelope only remembered that she was listening intently, at a crucial moment, practically glued to the door... when it suddenly opened.
She was completely unprepared, caught off guard, and just tumbled in.
Thankfully, she didn't fall, but... how embarrassing!
"Penelope?" Brandon looked at her. "What are you..."
"This door, I don't know what happened, it wasn't closed properly, I guess? I just knocked, and it suddenly opened on its own. I wasn't paying attention and lost my balance, so I ended up falling in..."
Then, Penelope quickly explained, "I came to check on your injury. The way you saved Thessaly was so cool and heroic. Thank goodness you were there, or it could have been bad! But... you must be pretty hurt, right?"
She spoke earnestly, as if she hadn't been eavesdropping at the door!
Kelvin also walked in from outside.
He glanced at Brandon. "Doesn't seem too serious."
Penelope: "How can you tell? That camera was huge and heavy!"
