Chapter 846 Hope Mr. Davis Supports Thessaly More
With so many people watching, Kelvin would drink if Thessaly offered a toast.
After all, Kelvin was here to support her and wouldn't embarrass her in front of everyone.
Thessaly knew exactly what these people were thinking—they wanted to offer her to Mr. Davis tonight!
She had heard about some of the unspoken rules in the entertainment industry, even though she had never experienced them herself and found them repulsive.
Wealthy and powerful men, if they took a liking to a female star, would have the agency arrange a dinner. After the meal, they would take the star away.
It was a mutual agreement.
Men sought beauty, and female stars sought power.
Each got what they wanted.
But she wasn't that kind of person, and neither was Kelvin!
Thessaly felt a sharp discomfort in her throat and started coughing hard. "Sorry."
She could handle two bottles of beer and a glass of wine at most. This was her first time drinking hard liquor, and she had downed it in one go. It was no wonder she couldn't handle it.
Kelvin didn't say anything. He personally poured some warm water and placed it in front of her.
By doing this, he showed everyone his special care for Thessaly.
And deep down, he admired her even more.
She clearly couldn't drink, but to avoid toasting him, she downed it herself in one go.
She was straightforward and transparent.
Penelope's judgment was spot on.
"She can't drink anymore, let's skip the toasts," Kelvin said. "No more toasting."
Since he said so, the others naturally nodded in agreement.
The boss, being very astute, immediately responded, "Right, drinking is bad for your health. The dishes here are specially prepared by a five-star chef from out of town. Mr. Davis, you prefer lighter flavors; you should enjoy them. Please, have more."
Thessaly kept her head down, still coughing occasionally.
The liquor was really harsh.
The manager smiled and said, "Our Thessaly is very well-behaved and obedient in private. She never smokes, and she can't hold her liquor. She's a rare, clean, and pure good girl!"
"Yes, yes, Thessaly is beautiful, talented, and has great presence."
"She's definitely going to be a top star in the entertainment industry!"
"Mr. Davis, you have a great eye. Thessaly is our company's key talent."
Everyone chimed in, praising Thessaly.
Thessaly remained expressionless.
She never liked these kinds of occasions and rarely attended them.
Kelvin leaned back lazily in his seat and spoke casually, "Actually, there's something I want to discuss over this meal."
"Mr. Davis, please go ahead!"
"The spokesperson for Adoring Cupid, my wife and I both agree that Thessaly is the most suitable," Kelvin said. "My wife couldn't make it tonight due to a last-minute issue."
Everyone exchanged glances.
Was this "last-minute issue" real, or did Kelvin deliberately send his wife away?
After all, if a man were having an affair, he'd want to keep it low-key. How could he openly bring his wife along?
Kelvin paused and continued, "So, the spokesperson will be Thessaly. There will be no changes. The legal department is already preparing the contract."
"Great, great," the manager beamed. "Our Thessaly will definitely cooperate with Adoring Cupid, shoot commercials, take promotional photos, and use her influence to boost Adoring Cupid's sales!"
"But," Kelvin raised an eyebrow, "Thessaly is signed with your company. How long is her contract?"
"Twenty years," the manager replied.
"Yes," the boss nodded repeatedly, boasting, "So Mr. Davis can rest assured. Thessaly has always followed company rules, and the contract period is long enough. We'll keep an eye on her, ensuring no negative news comes out!"
Twenty years.
Basically, an actor's best years would be spent with the agency!
With a contract in place, many things weren't up to Thessaly to decide!
Kelvin said calmly, "Your company is the largest agency in the film industry, with countless top stars under your wing."
"Not bad, but compared to Mr. Davis's company, it's nothing."
"Where does Thessaly rank in your company?"
Kelvin's question brought silence to the entire private room.
The entertainment industry was chaotic but very particular about rankings.
In a TV series, whose name appeared first and whose name was most prominent on the poster were all crucial matters, and it should not be taken lightly.
Stars were also ranked.
First, second, and third-tier stars were essentially the company's cash cows.
And within these tiers, there were the most experienced, the most popular, the ones with the most fans, the most commercially valuable, the best actors, the ones with the strongest backgrounds, and so on. Everyone had their own ranking in mind.
Given Thessaly's current situation, she was second-tier.
She had acting skills, two Best Actress awards, notable works, high market recognition, and a promising future in the film market. But in the TV market, she hadn't made a significant impact yet.
Moreover, Thessaly was an ordinary person with no background.
She was in a somewhat awkward position, not quite there yet. To break into the first tier, she still needed more fame.
So, when Adoring Cupid was looking for a spokesperson, it was the top stars from various agencies competing. It wasn't her turn.
Yet, this opportunity fell into Thessaly's lap.
"Our Thessaly..." the manager replied, "With Mr. Davis's favor, she's definitely a top star."
The boss nodded, "Yes. In a few years, under Mr. Davis's guidance, Thessaly will be a top female star, always popular!"
There were many stars who were flash in the pan in the entertainment industry.
Stars who remained popular for decades were rare.
With Davis Group as a strong backing, Thessaly wouldn't have to worry about resources.
She would be flooded with opportunities!
Kelvin smiled slightly, "What favor do I have, and what can I cultivate? Davis Group isn't considering entering the entertainment industry for now."
"Mr. Davis, you're being modest. If you want, our small agency is always at your service!"
If the agency could be incorporated into Davis Group, it would dominate the entertainment industry!
Kelvin raised an eyebrow. "You speak very nicely."
The boss replied, "No, no, no, this is absolutely my most sincere thought."
The private room fell silent for a few seconds.
Kelvin lowered his eyes, tapping his fingers lightly on the table, lost in thought.
After a while, he spoke, "Since you're so sincere in wanting me to support Thessaly, I can give it a try."
Everyone held their breath, eagerly watching Kelvin.
They were curious to hear what he would say next!
Kelvin's words were worth their weight in gold. Thessaly was about to soar, her future success inevitable.
