Chapter 925 Don't Ruin Your Body, It Hurts My Heart

It was Brandon's underestimation and his own overconfidence that led to this mess!

Penelope stood under the showerhead.

Warm water streamed over her body as she closed her eyes, tilting her head back, letting the water cascade from head to toe over and over.

Her hair clung to her shoulders and face.

Penelope felt so dirty... She scrubbed her skin vigorously, scrubbing until it turned red and sore, continuously applying body wash, almost peeling off her skin. Her skin had wrinkled from being soaked for too long... yet she still didn't stop.

Not clean enough, still not clean enough!

Outside the door, Kelvin glanced at his watch.

Penelope had been in there for an hour.

He knocked on the door with his knuckles: "Penelope."

No response.

He knocked harder: "Penelope! Answer me!"

Penelope's voice accompanied the sound of water splashing. "I'm still showering."

"You've been in there long enough."

"...Not enough."

"Enough!" Kelvin's voice rose, "You either come out yourself, or I'll come in right now."

Penelope fell silent again.

Kelvin couldn't wait another second and broke the door open, the lock... snapped.

Inside the bathroom, steam filled the air, hot and thick.

Penelope stood there, her skin covered in red marks!

He knew she had scrubbed them into her skin!

Kelvin quickly walked over and turned off the showerhead.

The sound of water abruptly stopped.

"What are you doing..." Penelope looked up at him, "I'm not done yet."

"It's been an hour, how much longer do you need?"

"...Until I'm clean."

Kelvin's face darkened. He didn't say another word, grabbed a towel, wrapped her up, and lifted her horizontally.

"No, don't..." Penelope struggled to avoid him, "Kelvin, let me shower a little longer, just a little longer... I'm still dirty, I'm still so dirty... Let me go..."

She turned the shower back on.

Water instantly soaked the towel wrapped around her.

Kelvin's clothes were drenched too!

"Penelope!" Kelvin shouted, "How long are you going to torture yourself like this? How long are you going to punish yourself?"

His voice was angry and deep, but more than that, it was filled with pain.

Her pain was his pain.

Her sorrow, he felt it even more deeply!

It wasn't her fault; she shouldn't be like this!

The ones at fault were Brandon, Paul, and her negligent husband!

Through the steam, Penelope looked at him.

"Leave," she said, "Don't worry about me, I'll shower as long as I want... You're soaked, go change your clothes, don't catch a cold."

Water continued to pour over both of them.

Kelvin's eyes reddened.

On their faces, it was impossible to tell if it was water or tears.

In such a situation, tears had long merged with the water!

"Do you know how much it hurts me to see you like this?" Kelvin's Adam's apple bobbed.

Penelope's body trembled slightly.

"Penelope," he said, "Don't punish yourself, don't mistreat your body like this, it hurts me to see it, I don't want you to continue like this..."

She turned her head away.

"What you're doing is meaningless, it won't change anything!" Kelvin said, "What we need to do is find the person behind all this, find the truth, find the evidence! Don't punish yourself!"

Penelope murmured, "The truth? What truth? Even if everything comes to light, Brandon and I... that's a fact, it can't be changed."

"Even if it's a fact, so what! Penelope, I won't blame you, I don't care!"

"But I care!" she shouted, "I can't face you, I'm not worthy of you, how can I still stay by your side?"

Seeing Sam and Lucy, Penelope felt so sad.

The children's faces were still innocent and pure; they had no idea what had happened.

One night could turn the world upside down, could change so many things!

Between their mom and dad, a rift had formed, an unavoidable crack etched deep into their hearts!

Kelvin raised his hand, gripping Penelope's shoulders tightly: "Listen to me, Penelope, you and Brandon might not have had sex. There's no evidence, no surveillance, no one can draw that conclusion! Not even Brandon himself!"

Penelope looked at him in despair: "At this point, you're still comforting me, still deceiving yourself? When you walked into the room, what did you see? You know better than I do."

She hadn't woken up then, but he had seen everything!

"What I saw was just you and Brandon lying together," Kelvin replied, "Nothing more."

"Isn't that enough?"

"Maybe you were just lying together?"

Penelope closed her eyes, shaking her head repeatedly: "Don't lie to me, don't lie to yourself... I'm sorry, Kelvin, it's my fault. I can't accept who I am now, and I think you can't either. Otherwise, we should..."

"Penelope!"

Realizing what Penelope was about to say, Kelvin raised his voice sharply, interrupting her!

Penelope looked at him.

"Don't say it, don't ever say it!" Kelvin's voice grew more severe, "Never say that! Do you hear me?"

She just looked at him quietly, the sadness in her eyes so evident.

Kelvin no longer coddled her, no longer feared hurting her, dealing with her now... he had to be firm!

He turned off the shower again, wrapped her in the towel, ignoring her struggles, lifted her horizontally, and carried her out of the bathroom, placing her on the big bed!

Penelope lay on her side, curled up into a ball, her eyes dark and vacant.

Kelvin said nothing, silently drying her hair, then blow-drying it, and dressing her in pajamas.

He looked down at her swollen fingers from the water, gently stroked them, then kissed them.

Penelope trembled slightly, watching his lips touch her fingers.

She could still clearly see Kelvin's eyelashes, his brows, his high nose.

He was still the same as he had always been.

But... she was no longer herself.

Penelope tried to pull her fingers back, but Kelvin held them tightly.

The more she tried to pull away, the tighter he held.

She couldn't match Kelvin's strength!

"Penelope, you can't have any other thoughts," Kelvin said, "Not even a hint, do you hear me?"

Penelope remained silent.

"Even if you do, I'll personally extinguish them."

Kelvin looked into her eyes, unwavering.

The one who wasn't steadfast was Penelope!

Her hair hung quietly by her ears, still warm from the blow dryer, and as Penelope lowered her head, strands of hair slipped from her shoulders.
