Chapter 914 The Person Who Took Penelope Must Be Brandon
"Yeah," Sam said, "He just can't sit still. Men, no chill at all, and he's over thirty."
He hummed a tune while continuing to build his Lego set.
The car sped down the road.
Halfway through the drive, Kelvin got a call from his bodyguard.
"Talk to me!"
"Mr. Davis," the bodyguard's voice was frantic, "Brandon's not home! I've checked the master bedroom, the study, the living room, everywhere!"
"Dammit!"
Kelvin slammed his foot on the gas pedal, flooring it!
The sports car roared even faster!
His earlier suspicions now flooded his mind.
Brandon wasn't at the Walker Mansion, but he had managed to slip past Kelvin's surveillance, using his regular car to leave the mansion.
This meant Brandon had figured out that Kelvin had eyes on him, so he used a clever trick to escape unnoticed!
And Penelope and Thessaly weren't answering their phones. Something had happened!
'Penelope, hold on, wait for me, you have to wait for me!' He thought.
The flashy sports car screeched to a halt in front of the restaurant. Before the valet could approach, Kelvin had already jumped out and was striding towards the entrance.
He headed straight for the restaurant!
The manager hurried forward to greet him, "Hello!"
Kelvin grabbed the manager by the collar. "Where's my wife, Penelope?"
"Penelope?"
"The surveillance footage, pull it up!" Kelvin's entire demeanor radiated hostility. "Now!"
He looked like an enraged lion, his face dark and stormy, a ticking time bomb ready to explode at any moment!
He couldn't afford to waste time, not even a minute.
Every minute that passed, Penelope was in more danger!
Kelvin knew the person who took Penelope had to be Brandon! It had to be!
Penelope in Brandon's hands wouldn't be in any physical danger; she'd be safe, but... what would a man deeply in love with Penelope do to her?
The answer was crystal clear! Obvious!
Even if the worst happened and Brandon succeeded this time, Kelvin knew Penelope was being manipulated; she was a victim. He could convince himself not to care, but what about Penelope herself?
She would care about her reputation! She would feel tainted!
Kelvin's whole body trembled uncontrollably, shaking with anger, rage, a fury that threatened to consume him entirely!
If Brandon dared to touch Penelope, Kelvin would make him pay a terrible price, a fate worse than death!
The restaurant staff cooperated quickly, pulling up the surveillance footage and identifying the table where Penelope and Thessaly had dined.
"Mr. Davis," the manager stammered, "According to the footage and the receipt, Penelope paid the bill after dinner but didn't leave the restaurant. She's still here."
"Then where is she?"
The manager was bewildered, "I don't know..."
Kelvin shoved him aside, staring intently at the computer screen.
The footage showed Penelope, Thessaly, and Brandon, each holding a glass of water, chatting casually, and the atmosphere was relaxed.
Then, the three of them left together.
But then the footage cut out, turning into static, nothing visible!
"What happened?" Kelvin clenched his fists. "Where's the footage?"
"It seems to be broken," the manager trembled, "The later footage is all gone. I contacted the engineer to fix it, but at this hour, it's unlikely..."
Before he could finish, Kelvin punched the wall.
"Search!" he commanded coldly, "Turn this place upside down if you have to, find her!"
Without the footage, it was like being blind, unable to move forward.
But it didn't change Kelvin's determination to find Penelope!
Well done, Brandon, what a clever trick!
First, he misled Kelvin's surveillance, creating the illusion that he was still at the Walker Mansion, relaxing Kelvin's vigilance, when in fact, he had already come to the restaurant!
Brandon must have gotten word that Penelope and Thessaly would be dining here tonight!
Then, he pretended to bump into them, chatted casually, and found some excuse to make Thessaly and Penelope leave with him.
After that, the footage was gone! Nothing visible!
No one knew where they went, what they did, who they met, or what happened!
Kelvin closed his eyes, taking a deep breath.
At that moment, he felt a murderous intent towards Brandon, completely and utterly.
Forget evidence, forget friendship, Brandon had become a serious threat.
Kelvin needed to be ruthless, no longer considering Penelope's feelings, and find someone to kill Brandon!
Eliminate the threat once and for all!
Kelvin's bodyguards arrived quickly, well-trained, and efficient.
The restaurant was surrounded, and cleared out.
Soon, the bodyguards found Penelope's purse in a private room.
"Mr. Davis, this is Mrs. Davis's purse!"
Kelvin pushed through the crowd, looking at the purse. It was hers, no doubt.
Everything inside was still there, including her phone, filled with his unread messages and missed calls.
But where was she?
And where were Brandon and Thessaly?
Had they vanished into thin air?
Kelvin gripped the purse, veins bulging on his hand, issuing orders through gritted teeth, "Search the entire city. Whoever finds Penelope will be heavily rewarded!"
His heart was filled with fear, worry, and helplessness.
But the more critical the situation, the more he couldn't lose his composure; he couldn't fall apart!
Penelope was waiting for him, waiting for him to rescue her!
No matter what happened, no matter what Brandon did to Penelope, he still loved her; she was still Mrs. Davis.
Preparing for the worst, Kelvin's eyes were dark and intense.
The night was deep.
Los Angeles was bustling and vibrant, but after midnight, the streets grew quieter, with fewer pedestrians and even fewer cars.
Kelvin leaned against the car door, smoking one cigarette after another.
At his feet, a pile of cigarette butts.
He didn't know where Penelope was now; all he could do was mobilize everyone under his command to search for her.
Time was slipping away.
In a secluded alley, there was a small motel, shabby and cheap.
It was next to an old residential area, dirty and rundown, barely noticeable.
The air was filled with a musty smell.
In a corner room.
Brandon gently placed Penelope on the bed.
She was so beautiful and pure, making the motel room seem upscale.
A place like this was somewhere Brandon, with his status, would never set foot in his lifetime.
But today he had no choice.
"Sorry for the inconvenience, Penelope," Brandon said, "I wanted our first time to be perfect, but for now, this will have to do. I'll make it up to you later."
The room's soundproofing was terrible.
